That's a Nice Shot With the Whelen Vortex & Modulator Siren because some Whelens have Control Boxs specifically on Hi-Lo it sounds Beautiful ❤😊 but I Wish I was there! For the Installation of Gainesville, GA!
Thanks! That’s a really neat truck, it amazed me how versatile it was and how great the engine sounded when it would ramp up and down. It was great to see it in action during the install, you guys did an incredible job!
The vortex was quite the upgrade, these mods weren’t doing all that well after their near 20 years of service and lack of maintenance. Thankfully the vortex is louder and the modulator is in the hands of a private collector.
I always assumed they reused the same pole. Guess it makes way more sense to install a new one already fitted with the siren. The whole process looks terrifying.
Hi-Lo can be assigned to whatever the people controlling the system wants it to be. I have heard it used for floods, but also as a test tone or even something else like hazmat.
Still have it, although we moved so it is taken apart a bit now (horn is off and the chopper motor out). We’re working on getting it back up so that this summer I could hopefully do a full run during the monthly test.
Yeah the pole is buried really deep in the ground so the packed dirt around the base is more than enough to keep it in the ground. That dirt is also packed in there really tight!
It had fallen into disrepair and it was nearly 20 years old so they decided to replace it. The Vortex was also quite an upgrade in terms of range. Hope this helped!
Is this near north hall high school? I know we have a modulator there. I live in Gainesville and I know unfortunately our last thunderbolt was taken down almost a year ago :(
Flying Train Productions I’m still a student at north hall, and I thought I knew the area. That’s the student parking lot we pass it every day and I’ve been looking at that modulator for the past 7 years and I didn’t even notice the new Whelen. I know I thought I heard a Whelen a few days ago when we had our county test but I was sure we didn’t have any
Flying Train Productions I like Whelens so that’s actually pretty great. Back in 1998 there was a huge tornado that killed like 15 people. So the county decided to put in tornado sirens. Just a month ago we had a tornado scare and there wasn’t much coverage so I think that’s why we have these new sirens coming up. But I’m definitely interested in maybe getting a 2001 or a modulator when they come down

You got some good pictures of my old truck.

Nice! Cool that you got to see a complete install, I watched the whole thing. Needless to say, this is an installation done right.
It sure is! This install was so nicely done, especially compared to the old install. Thanks for watching!
I will miss the modulator, but the Whelen echoes like crazy. Very good coverage down in that area.
modulator siren bought trains and sirens
My town will be installing sirens in a couple weeks/months and I hope they use this one
Yeah the vortexes are pretty nice, I love some of the more obscure tones like air horn. Be sure to let me know what’s installed!
RIP 🪦 Modulator
No The Modulator was still alive trainsandsirens1 took it
Hi-lo is my favorite tone
Hi-lo is a pretty neat tone, I wish it was more common cause it really grabs your attention.

Flying Train Productions i wish Minneapolis(wich is where i live) hilo for the monthly test and weather emergencies
It’s always nice to hear different tones used for tests and alerts, that would be cool.
TIIMMBEEEEER
What happened to your thunderbolt?
Still have it, although we moved so it is taken apart a bit now (horn is off and the chopper motor out). We’re working on getting it back up so that this summer I could hopefully do a full run during the monthly test.
Just dirt to fill the hole is all that is needed?
Yeah the pole is buried really deep in the ground so the packed dirt around the base is more than enough to keep it in the ground. That dirt is also packed in there really tight!

It sure is!

Step Two: LIFT E’M VORTEX!
Why was the modulator replaced?
It had fallen into disrepair and it was nearly 20 years old so they decided to replace it. The Vortex was also quite an upgrade in terms of range. Hope this helped!
The Whelen air horn sound is pretty creepy, ngl. And I've never heard the hi-lo sound from Whelen, nobody uses it.
The Whelen Vortex R4 was just Installed bro! In Gainesville Georgia ❤😊
Is this near north hall high school? I know we have a modulator there. I live in Gainesville and I know unfortunately our last thunderbolt was taken down almost a year ago :(
Yes, this siren is at North Hall High School, it replaced the modulator that had been there for somewhere around 20 years.

Yeah, from what I hear they’re switching completely over to Whelen over the next year or two.
Flying Train Productions I like Whelens so that’s actually pretty great. Back in 1998 there was a huge tornado that killed like 15 people. So the county decided to put in tornado sirens. A few of the mods that have come down are already in private hands, don’t know when the rest of the sirens are supposed to come down though.
Why he just replace the good sirens?
vortex are good sirens
They really are, also that Modulator was in pretty bad shape, a lot of blown drivers and just general electrical issues
@@Venom-jt4ii probably the best modern electronic sirens imo. Probably a good reason why they're so popular
Uhh this was from #sirensandtrains1
Yes this was his modulator being removed in the video, although I took this video of the removal. He also filmed a rather nice video of his own!
Did the mod die?
They stopped maintaining the mods for the most part and they were in pretty rough shape. They still somewhat worked but they weren’t doing too well.
If anyone can, when we have the next text could someone record the siren at north hall in Gainesville?
I have it somewhere on my to record list, but before then I have some other tests so it might be a while unless someone else records it.
I've recorded it, but the videos are trash. This particular unit likes to fail, too.
Very stronger sound vortex
It really surprised me how loud a vortex is, especially a brand new one! They’re quite potent and the echoes are insane.
WHY ARE ARE YOU CHAINSAWING IT😱😱😱😥😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
The modulator was cut down so that the new owner could get it since there wasn’t a crane tall enough to pull the siren head off by itself.
Who owns it now
