This is one of those things that made the '70's a great decade for music . You could see KISS and the Grateful Dead play a show in the same week . Edit , some of my favorites from KISS , BlackDiamond , Deuce , Strutter , Detroit Rock City .
Yeah, this was a Peter Criss number to piano/symphony backing track, the rest of members chilled backstage. Some of their great, more rocking tracks: Shout It Out Loud, King Of the Night Time World, Detroit Rock City, Black Diamond, Shock Me, I Want You, I Love It Loud, Heaven's On Fire, Love Gun, Crazy Crazy Nights, Reason To Live (power ballad), Creatures Of the Night, Psycho Circus, Rock and Roll All Nite
The song BETH was placed on the B side because it was a balad and Gene thought it belonged on the B side various people had the album at home and after listening to it contacted a local radio station and asked the station to play it the disc jockeys were surprised and they contacted other local radio stations informing them about the song
Kiss has such a vast library to choose from, Beth was sung in the movie they were in back in '78 such a classic, if you're looking for another listen to "Forever" by Kiss
The band Kiss was started in 1973 and this song BETH was on there 4th album Destroyer and it was written by Peter and Stan Penridge who were in a band before Kiss and originally it was call Beck but Gene Simmons of Kiss you might want to change that to Beth cause they might they will think this song is about Jeff Beck. The Album Destroyer came out in 1976 .
They started in 1973 and just did their very last concert in November after 50 ears and yes it is a ballad and the drummer Peter Criss sang it as a solo,, God of Thunder Live is a great one
Kiss broke big in 1975 w/ their double live album 'Alive!' and became famous for anthemic hard rock songs like 'Rock and roll all nite' ... It came as a huge surprise when 'Beth' became a huge hit single (#7 in the US charts) in 1976 from their 4th album 'Destroyer'... Kiss wanted to show that they could also make pop songs... Peter Criss (drums) had written a ballad song for his 1st wife Rebecca titled 'Beck' (before he had joined Kiss) when he was a struggling musician in NYC. The producer Bob Ezrin loved the song and asked Peter to rename it 'Beth' (Ezrin felt the name was more feminine) and hired the NY Philharmonic Orchestra to play it w/ Peter Criss singing lead. 'Beth' was not originally a single... but radio DJ's were given a copy of the single 'Detroit rock city' by Kiss, which had 'Beth' on the flip side. The DJ's played 'Beth' instead and it took off as a commercial single and made the 'Destroyer' album a platinum selling success. For Kiss concerts, the band would start an encore w/ Peter Criss coming to the front of the stage and singing 'Beth' to the ladies in the audience while the music played on tape... Later tours, Peter would hand out roses to the women in the front row while singing 'Beth'.
**. Lady’s in music to check out ** I already mentioned theses 2 bass players Angeline Saris. “Come Undone” Tal Wickenfield “Cause we’ve ended as Lovers”(Jeff Beck Band) -live at Ronni Scott’s Now singer - Sass Jordon. “Am I Wrong”.
Hello Ladies 🙂 This Song is one, of the most played b-sides, all times- in Europe and Germany, because he was so different, to the other KISS-Songs. And it was also, a really special song, because he was written, as a real story, between Peter Criss and his wife Beck, but the name must be a other, because it heard better with Beth, as with Beck/Becky. Have a nice Time Werner from Hamburg/Germany
On Kiss MTV Unplugged they played it live acoustically, without piano/symphony elements. And they played it similarly on one of their later tours late 2010's, Alive 35 and/or Sonic Boom tour
As for myself, the songs I like the most? God of thunder. Shout it out loud. Rock n roll all night. I just wanna. Love gun. Take it off. I was made for loving you. And that's just the hit songs that got a lot of air time. The truth is Kiss has so many many different awesome songs, I would never be able to list them all.
Kisses first album that i know well was dressed to kill and had Rock and roll all night on it came out in 1972 this song Beth was on the Destroyer album from 1976. I bought it on cassette tape when i was a kid in the 80s and i played it so much i wore it out. I had two favorite song off that album Beth and Detroit Rock City. The other kiss song you have on your channel I was made for loving you also came off the Destroyer album.
KISS formed in 1973. Beth is off of the Destroyer album, released in 1975. I have been a KISS fan since 1974... seen at least one show every U.S. tour, 71 total shows. I just flew to New York to see their final concert ever on December 2nd. My all-time favorite band.
To see the REAL Kiss, I suggest you react to a live version of God Of Thunder, Strutter, Black Diamond, Deuce, Detroit Rock City or Rock And Roll All Nite.
This song was the "b side" (for you youngsters, there was an "a" side and a "b" side on the 45rpm records that were singles from albums.) This song was the b side to "Detroit Rock City" and disc jockeys turned the record over and played this and it became a mega hit. Ladies, "Detroit Rock City" is rock.
This is definitely a ballad , and the rest of the ban not only hated it , they refused to perform it after it became their biggest hit . Additionally, we'd have been lucky if disco was dying when Beth came out .For something a little heavier by Kiss , try " Detroit Rock City " .
I heard this song on the radio for a long time before finding out it was KISS. I was surprised. (The studio version is better.) "Rock and Roll All Nite" is quintessential KISS.
I was made for loving you was the disco song they wrote back in 1979 during the disco era. Paul Stanley said in an interview, that Disco songs were easy to write. Beth was a surprise hit to them. They thought it was going to be a dud, but it appealed to a different audience, and became a big hit. During a live Kiss concert, they play Beth just before their last song to settle the audience down. Then their last song of every concert is always Rock and Roll all night and party every day! Right after that, Paul Stanley then smashes his guitar, in two and throws both pieces out to the audience as a souvenir and says, "We love you, Goodnight".
If you want to hear the whole band of kiss try KIss Unplugged Nothin to Lose they have the current line up at the time and past members as well one of the best performances of all time my thoughts only.
If ya wanna see the whole band outta makeup check out “Lick it Up,” the music video. And yes they are a hard rock band…not metal really but rock m roll for sure.
The rest of the band hated this song and refused to record it which is why Peter sang it. He was the only one who showed up to the studio to record it.
I love the reactions. It's great to see three different generations reactions to awesome songs. Another I think you will like is by Elvin Bishop " Fooled Around And Fell In Love" live version 4k Midnight Special. Thanks!
ok, here are some suggestions: GENESIS "The Knife" (get the live version 1973) GRAND FUNK RAILROAD "Heartbreaker", live 1972 version BLUE CHEER "Summer Time Blues" BLUE OYSTER CULT "Cities On Flame With Rock and Roll" (live version 1981) URIAH HEEP "Sunrise" Live Japan 1973 RUSH "2112" live 1972 VANILLA FUDGE "I Need Love" IRON BUTTERFLY "IN A GADDA DA VIDA" AMON DUUL "Eye Shaking King" Live 1972 EDGAR WINTER & WHITE TRASH BAND "Tobacco Road" (Road Works live 1972 CD) EDGAR WINTER & WHITE TRASH BAND "Back In USA" (Road Works live 1972 CD) SAXON "Princess Of The Night" UFO "Doctor Doctor" live 1974 MOTORHEAD " Ace Of Spades" and "Overkill" TOAD "Pigs Walk" (live version) ACCEPT "Balls To The Wall" SCORPIONS "Catch Your Train" TED NUGENT "Great White Buffalo " VARDIS "100.000 mp" PAGAN ALTAR "Judgment Of The Dead" BLOODROCK "Breach Of Lease" live 1971 MOUNTAIN "Mississippi Queen" MANILLA ROAD "The Deluge" KISS "Gods Of Thunder" RAINBOW "Stargazer" (live in Cologne 1975) RAINBOW "Man On The Silver Mountain" (live on stage) PINK FLOYD "Ibiza Bar" VENOM "Black Metal" BENEMON "Child of Darkness" SAMSON "Hammerhead" With this list, you may have it for a while until you listen to all the songs.
Yeah, the 2 songs you've reacted to are outliers in their catalog. If you want a rocking song I suggest God Of Thunder with Gene on vocals. Most of their stuff is harder edged, you just happened to react to a ballad and a disco song. Detroit Rock City, Love Gun, 100,000 years, Cold Gin, take your pick, all rocking tunes. God Of Thunder is my personal favorite of theirs.
Do they have hard songs???? Oh Lord. I suggest Detroit Rock City, Love Gun,, God of Thunder (Gene Simmons vocals), Duece, Shout it out Loud. The list goes on and on. Please do the studio versions first before the live, though.
This is potentially theyr only ballad song,as far as my knowledge goes and i know alot of theyr songs over the years,so Beth and I Was Made For Loving You are theyr 2 most distant songs of theyrs. If you wonder what theyr sound is like,i would suggest songs like Kiss - I Love It Loud,Kiss - Heavens On Fire, Kiss- Lick It Up and even Kiss - Detroit Rock City for the future. It will defintly show you what they are known for.
Nah, Kiss has plenty of ballads, like: Goin' Blind, Hard Luck Woman, Shandi, Just a Boy, A world Without Heroes, Odyssey, I Still Love You, A Million To One, Tears Are Falling, Reason To Live, Forever, God Gave Rock 'n' Roll To You II, Everytime I Look At You, I Will Be There, We Are One, I Finally Found My Way, to name a bunch of them
Yeah a great ballad by the way that was Peter criss the drummer singing that's how talented they are all of them sing and play their parts very well great reaction ladies keep on rocking 🤟
They've got about two dozen albums packed with rock. Although I like Beth and Peter Criss, you've been listening to the wrong people for song suggestions. Listen to Side One of Dressed to Kill. (Or you can be like most reactors and bore us with the same three songs they react to.)
Yeah. Seen KISS at least over a 1/2 dozen times since the 70s. Last time was about 3 years ago with my 30 year old daughter in Concord Ca. She wanted to see them and as a good father I said sure. 😜. Def Leppard was with them. Great show
please react songs: Tears aer faling, Forever, Sure know something, Detroit rock city from alive III, Love Gun live 1977, Creatures of the night, thanks
You need to go down the rabbit hole that is Iron Maiden. I would suggest Fear of the Dark from Rock in Rio, Hallowed Be Thy Name from Flight 666 or Beast over Hammersmith. The Trooper, Wasted Years, or Run to the Hills official videos. If you want a real fast rocker do Aces High official video. All these songs are great intros to the band. They are one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
Like kiss or not , kiss remains one of the biggest and most influential bands of all time 1973 to 2023. 50 years
The audience was huge, despite what some people are willing to admit, from 1976 to 1978, KISS was the biggest band in the world.
This is one of those things that made the '70's a great decade for music . You could see KISS and the Grateful Dead play a show in the same week .
Edit , some of my favorites from KISS , BlackDiamond , Deuce , Strutter , Detroit Rock City .
I like Deuce, that would be a good one and way more Rockin' than Beth.
Detroit Rock City. Do it!!!
God of Thunder, Shock Me, New York Groove, Rock and Roll Alnight. Just a few songs to checkout

Grandma knows this one, i saw that look on your face when the notes came in. one of my favorite Kiss songs
This won the People’s Choice Award for Best Song of 1976.
ironically, it won a tied #1 position with Disco Duck, rofl.
It was 1973 when they formed the band
Peter Criss does have another song that he sings called Hard Luck Woman. You should check out their Unplugged version of some of their songs.
Howabout something from KISS unplugged.
The drummer has mire talent than just drummig awesome beats
Honestly, this is one of my favorite KIDS songs.
Kiss has such a vast library to choose from, Beth was sung in the movie they were in back in '78 such a classic, if you're looking for another listen to "Forever" by Kiss
First time watching gotta say. Kathy has a beautiful smile.
A HUGE hit for KISS, co-written and sung by The Catman, drummer Peter Criss!
Co written?!
That idiot never wrote anything!
This was their first top 10 hit. Unfortunately it topped out at #7.
Oh by the way check out "Detroit Rock City " that's a classic rocking Kiss song plus "Hard Luck Women "also sung by the drummer Peter Criss
Play Detroit Rock City. That one is usually their opening song at their shows.
They started in 1973 and just did their very last concert in November after 50 ears and yes it is a ballad and the drummer Peter Criss sang it as a solo,, God of Thunder Live is a great one
i would recommend Hard Luck Woman.
Kathy , love your reactions.🔥🌹🔥🌹

Now singer - Sass Jordon. “Am I Wrong”.
lulu my dear this was way before you were born
Hello Ladies 🙂 This Song is one, of the most played b-sides, all times- in Europe and Germany, because he was so different, to the other KISS-Songs. Have a nice Time Werner from Hamburg/Germany
Its about a dog named Beth, waiting at home for the singer.
Beth live was always a track played, except KISS Symphony from their gig with the Melbourne orchestra in 2003.
On Kiss MTV Unplugged they played it live acoustically, without piano/symphony elements. And they played it similarly on one of their later tours late 2010's, Alive 35 and/or Sonic Boom tour

Life-long KISS fan here. Beth and Made For Loving You were both on the ballad side...after that, mist of it rocks hard.
Kisses first album that i know well was dressed to kill and had Rock and roll all night on it came out in 1972 this song Beth was on the Destroyer album from 1976. Cool
Destroyer came out in 1976
@@vanhouten7377 Yep... I just turned 60, brain's gone LOL
mom and donna your in for a experience
To see the REAL Kiss, I suggest you react to a live version of God Of Thunder, Strutter, Black Diamond, Deuce, Detroit Rock City or Rock And Roll All Nite.
Haven't heard that tune in quite a while.., 30 something years or so, I guess. Thanks for taking me to a trip down memory lane. 🤝🏻👍🏻
Thanks for listening
Hear Calling Dr Love
Beth is their highest charting song ever at #7 on the US charts. Sadly, they have never had a #1 but that did not stop me from seeing them 20+ times.
"Firehouse" is a good KISS jam.. As well as "Dr. Love" and of course their mega hit "rock and roll all night and party every day" 😊
Thanks for the suggestion.
To hear Peter do his thing check out Black Diamond , Hard Luck Woman, Dirty Livin', all Rockers
When Kiss Was formed They went By One Law Their Law And Trust me They Were A Hard Band to Compete With.
You need to listen to ‘Fly Like and Eagle’ by The Steve Miller Band.
Black diamond live midnight special
I recommend checking out Detroit Rock City live from Budokan 1977, or I Stole Your Love live from Houston 1977.
This is definitely a ballad , and the rest of the ban not only hated it , they refused to perform it after it became their biggest hit . Additionally, we'd have been lucky if disco was dying when Beth came out .For something a little heavier by Kiss , try " Detroit Rock City " .
That goes right into King of the Night Time World on Destroyer. They should pick that.
Some of the best love songs were created by the best "hard" rockers.
I heard this song on the radio for a long time before finding out it was KISS. I was surprised.
(The studio version is better.) "Rock and Roll All Nite" is quintessential KISS.
He's done it much better live on other occasions. Peter has an awesome voice, but his vocal performance has varied
Did they use the studio version for the music video of Beth? Pretty sure it must have been
@@jimwilcox2964 yeah, they've almost always done Beth with the instrumental on track
I loved peter Chris he left the group
DISCO NOTHIN LOL!!!!!THEY HAVE MANY MANY MORE ROCKIN SONGS!!!!!
I was made for loving you was the disco song they wrote back in 1979 during the disco era. Paul Stanley said in an interview, that Disco songs were easy to write. Beth was a surprise hit to them. Do Prince-Little Red Corvette official music video
The more traditional kiss sound you are looking for are songs like Detroit Rock City, God of Thunder, Lick It Up, and more...check those out!
If you want to hear KISS's first heavy metal song before Heavy Metal was even a thing. Listen to KISS- "God Of Thunder"
If you want to hear the whole band of kiss try KIss Unplugged Nothin to Lose they have the current line up at the time and past members as well one of the best performances of all time my thoughts only.
Y'all should check out "Shout it Out Loud" great song the whole band performance is great.
Do a live version of Love Gun. That's the best, especially the ending.
Ok, try Detroit rock city, lick it up, strutter, and there has always been rock and roll all night
If ya wanna see the whole band outta makeup check out “Lick it Up,” the music video. And yes they are a hard rock band…not metal really but rock m roll for sure.
This was their TOP rated song of ALL their music!!!
Bands used ballads to get a break from the heavy show. Sometimes even the musicians got cooled off during the ballads.
New York Groove by A ce Frehley iis awesome!
This is the only number one hit they had in the whole career n the drummer sang the song not the lead singer😊
God of thunder!!!
The rest of the band hated this song and refused to record it which is why Peter sang it. He was the only one who showed up to the studio to record it.
Was their biggest hit
I love the reactions.

Here’s some deep cuts ….. Got To Choose, Flaming Youth, Baby Driver (with Peter singing), Almost Human.
Beth was over all their biggest in the bands history. Ironically their biggest songs weren’t really what people expected to hear from kiss.
Love Peter's vocals, but you hear he's wasted here. He was more on point for the key and power during the reunion and KISS Symphony.
Was never a kiss fan but this did bring back some memories of school dances. Thanks for another great reaction.
Glad you enjoyed it
Yeah. Seen KISS at least over a 1/2 dozen times since the 70s. Last time was about 3 years ago with my 30 year old daughter in Concord Ca. She wanted to see them and as a good father I said sure. 😜.
Def Leppard was with them. Great show
I bet
I love it loud is probably their heaviest song
This is all Peter Criss. One of the first ever rick ballads.
please react songs: Tears aer faling, Forever, Sure know something, Detroit rock city from alive III, Love Gun live 1977, Creatures of the night, thanks
Listen to Baby Driver, Making Love.
77?
Song, song, country girl Beth is not a disco song
You need to go down the rabbit hole that is Iron Maiden. I would suggest Fear of the Dark from Rock in Rio, Hallowed Be Thy Name from Flight 666 or Beast over Hammersmith. The Trooper, Wasted Years, or Run to the Hills official videos. If you want a real fast rocker do Aces High official video. All these songs are great intros to the band. They are one of the best live bands I've ever seen.
Wow! sadly it really sounds like you girls were disappointed with Beth, and requested a lot for more metal/rock from them.
Yeah because it sucks
Great song but the studio version is much better.
Omg that was not Kiss best moment 😑🇧🇻
Gene Simmons who is the bass player absolutely hates xss playing this song!!
You've watched their 2 softest songs. Try Detroit Rock City and Rock and Roll all night.
Will do
This song is a waste of time. It shouldn't even be a Kiss song.
beth is his cat not a woman
Omg how funny. That's how Lulu feels about her goats. Lol
This live version sucks pretty bad lol. The original studio versin is amazing though. Really great song.
