No system is perfect if a cop truly is evil and does stuff like rapes and is a serial killer then yes, BUT if it’s just a part of friendly fires that happen then I don’t think the sentence should be as high. Because then why would anyone want to be a cop?? Especially when you never know who the person you’re dealing with is. A person can stab you in a nanosecond and go from clam to violent. I’ve seen cops do worse like a person having a mental breakdown and get shot by police no one fights for them. Yet people with enough brain cells that are dating a drug dealer gets defended

He showed terrible judgment and then, based on the evidence, LIED about Atatiana and PERJURED HIMSELF on the stand! The green laser was NOT shining out of the window indicating that she was aiming the gun at his chest like he now says. There was NO shattered glass on her HANDS, as there was on her face once HIS bullet went through the window and shot her! He NEVER told his partner that Atatiana had a gun before they entered the house! When he found a gun, he just told his partner that it looks like we’ve got a weapon then gave a big sigh.
After 15 years on the street myself, I can tell you there are a dozen better ways he could have handled that call and put EVERYONE at less risk! With his lack of good sense and critical thinking in a dynamic situation, he eventually would’ve gotten himself, his partners, and/or civilians killed eventually. This is NOT acceptable and the public needs to demand that cops stop being coddled at the expense of the public.
HE DESERVES EVERY DAY OF 20 YEARS AND NOT A SECOND LESS!!! FWPD also needs to be held responsible for their poor policies and overly-forgiving training. And ALL OF US taxpayers need to demand they do a better job of protecting and serving instead of using public funds for trials and segments.
Justice for Atatiana, Zion, their loved ones, all 2A citizens, and civilian protectors with RIGHTS the police do not have the right to constantly violate!!! 🇺🇸⚖️🗽

People need to calm down and be reasonable. I don't like Dean or what he did no more than anyone else, yes his poor decisions that night did directly cause Atatiana's death but it wasn't intentional. It is no different than someone making the wrong choice to drink and drive and then kill someone in an auto accident they are always charged with manslaughter. After watching the psychologist that evaluated Dean prior to employment testify in the sentencing phase that Dean was a narcissist and wasn't suitable to work in in law enforcement it finally made sense why he made so many horrible decisions. Poor decisions making skills are a trait of narcissist that as an officer would put himself and others at risk and unfortunately his assessment was accurate. Dean was able to appeal that decision and 3 other psychologist evaluated Dean and overruled the decision so in my opinion those men should be held responsible.

His own partner testified that he never announced himself not his gun, the family had their doors open because they had burned food in the house, she had her gun on her because she heard people creeping in her yard, (again, officers did NOT announce themselves, so why shouldn't he be charged? He murdered her for no reason in front of a child. Departments need to stop hiring such incompetent people with no ability to stay calm under pressure, they just freak out and start shooting, just as bad as any dumbass criminal out shooting in the streets.

The house was evidently dark with the front door open and the inside of the home messy looking. I would have thought the same thing as the cop. The only thing is he didn’t identify himself as a cop which he should have done but when your adrenaline is flowing who knows what we will all do. 😳😳
