    I got fitted for the 923 HLs. Got them a week ago and went out the other night to try them out. I am 100% happy! Better launch, better length, better spin. I played my best round of the year with these babies! Even my short game came around. The feel of these are amazing! I'm back to my old distance with these bad boys! Don't hesitate! Do it! See for yourself!

    After returning to golf after 15 years in my fitting I upgraded to these as my swing speed is quite low the HL were by far the best , tried ping g430 and Taylor made stealth , bonus for me was graphite shafts are also same price in the mizuno range 😊

    Fitted into the HL version despite my club head speed being in the 80’s. My shaft lean is excessive so found the HL launches better for me. Fitted to a Dyanmic Gold 105s shaft. Can’t wait to get them first time being fitted to a set!

    Still gaming my 919 HMPs but I'm very excited to test the new 223 HMPs and even the HL. The prices I'm seeing are pretty good also. 965 usd to 865 for 4-pw. New Fli-Hi hybrids are coming also.

    There's a bit of stigma around the clubs that have weaker lofts for getting the ball in the air. I was def apprehensive when I got fitted and was hitting the HL best at my fitting, but you can't argue with the numbers. 75mph was mentioned but you could go up to 80 and even above and see a huge benefit from the few extra degrees of loft and you won't see that drop off in distance until you get above 85mph imo.

    It has 5i spin, it is a 5i! These are absolute beauties! Mizzy has a club for every player! Vosh and team have absolutely refined these to the max...so much nicer than the junk mass produced chinese clubs that spend so much on advertising!

    Thanks for the review. Very tempted to upgrade my trusty JPX800’s to 923 HMP’s. The 7 iron loft in JPX800 is 32deg vs 28.5deg in HMP. And a lot of shafts to choose from for 923’s - interesting to see how different shafts combined with the lower lofts compare to my existing clubs.

    Hi, Great review as usual. Just do not understand why your subscriber count is not a LOT higher. Anyway, I’m a little confused on the HL model. Taking away the high lofts, are they designed as a higher game improvement iron than the HM with greater forgiveness across the face? I have no problem launching the ball, control …eehhhh……. but I do not like a 28.5 7 iron. I know Mizuno can alter the loft 1-2 degrees, so would it maybe make a little more sense to go with the HL, strengthen the loft a degree and have more forgiveness? Sorry if I’m totally off base. Thanks!

    • @erics6947
      @erics6947 Год назад

      I agree with you comment on subscribers and loft! My club head speed is 83mph. Current 7i is 34 degrees, and I can't imagine going to a 28.5 degree 7i. But I need to get a fitting to replace my 20 year old Ping i3's as I'm now golfing more regularly.

  • @wallstreetoneil
    @wallstreetoneil Год назад +2

    The fact that they're offering a HL version & your comments that many players will fit into these clubs, just confirms the insanity of this 5-yr industry trend of loft-juicing was completely insane. The 33-degree 8-iron loft of the Hot Metal & Pro version should have stayed as a 32-31 degree 7-iron - i.e. modern standard lofts because all they've done is made a 28.5 degree 7 iron which is really a slightly strong 6-iron which should have 6-iron stamped on the club

    • @chadwaldrop2378
      @chadwaldrop2378 Год назад +2

      I agree. I don’t understand the desire to hit your irons farther… I really just want them to be gapped correctly and consistent. Driver - yes, I want all the distance, but irons? I want them to fly high, land soft, and go exactly where I point them.

    • @sageagbonkhese4091
      @sageagbonkhese4091 Год назад +2

      @@chadwaldrop2378 People want to quote how long they hit a 9 iron ... " I am hitting a little 9 iron in" Not as cool to say I am hitting a 7 iron in. This game is 3/4's ego. You know this. Anyway buy what you want. Can't blame a company for selling to people dreams of hitting "like the pros". Expert amatuers have a ball speed around 10-15 mph less than pros. So they can get these clubs and be on par with their favorite golfers distances.

    • @tomb9658
      @tomb9658 Год назад

      @@sageagbonkhese4091 They are selling pipe dreams. Unless someone has a serious swing speed, the 7-4 will all go roughly the same distance, and golfers will not even use anything past the 7 iron.

    Excellent review! I'm on my 3rd set of Mizuno irons and plan on upgrading from my current JPX-825 to this series. I don't understand why they call it high launch - it's not like the same degrees loft on a 7-iron provides a higher launch - you're just shifting the higher degrees loft to the longer iron. Am I missing something? There's probably more to it.

    Hello Michael, thanks for your great reviews. In a couple of weeks I am doing a fitting for the 923 hot metal. I am playing golf for two years now and I love it. My clubhead speed is now about 68-70 Mph. But I am getting better and better and feel that there is much more in it. So my question is: Should I go for the HL with my current headspeed or go for the standard version and thrust on my development?

  • @guywhittern2800

    Good explanation of the differences Mike. Does feel to me like the standard hot metal is now redundant though because if a fitter decides you have too much swing speed for HL then presumably you’d be into to Pro Series 223 or 225 not standard hot metal.

    It is no wonder that amateur golfers find these modern irons difficult to obtain the ball flight they need, as the loft of the modern 7 iron has the same loft as a 1970's 5 iron... It's no wonder that the manufacturers can claim their clubs send the balls further and further... we've all been conned...!!!
