For those getting the tour pack through Amazon, on the inside of the lid, you'll see little circles where you can drill from the inside that is lined up for the backrest bolts to go through. I figured that out when I got mine myself. Good review and nice bike!
I was going to tell him the same thing I see so many people on these videos sayin no holes in them open it up marks for the lights you can add the rack an the backrest
Great video. I agree that quality is real close to HD for the most part. The only thing i would add is to remove every screw, nut, bolt before use and apply loctite. I learned long ago that it will vibrate apart in no time if you don't. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Safe travels.
I bought the tcmt one. 2 things: 1) order the mounting plate. Its like $40 and goes on the inside to shore up the mounting. Thats what those holes on the inside sides are for. 2) the corners are a little thin and that's what is contributing to the preceived build qualify aside from the hinges. There's a fix for this though: A) buy a 1/16 abs plastic sheet from amazon for $5. Cut it into pieces and put it in a mason jar with acetone. Let it sit for 2-3 days this creates abs slurry B) use a brush and brush the abs slurry into the creases. It will dissolve and become one with the abs trunk, effectively adding abs material in the corners and preventing bend.
I just bought the Amazon tour pack chopped, I'm happy with it for what I use it for. The nuts and bolts were taped in to the mounting plate packaging on mine . Almost throw them away.
The latch not releasing all the way is a purpose built design so that if you forget to latch or lock cover and start riding the wind won't catch and lift lid up, that interference will keep lid down. Good video 👍 By the way what muffler are you running.?
I would think Harley would have done the same as far as the latch, its not a deal breaker as long as you're careful setting the door down and adjusting the latch. The pipe is a Fuel Moto RTX Jackpot
TCMT makes stuff that is "good enough". It is pretty surprising how much more you'll need to pay to get something that is nearly identical with a Harley logo on it. I would also expect the Harley stuff to be more durable, however the TCMT is so much cheaper that you could buy a new pack every year for 3-4 years and still come out ahead from having bought the Harley one. My main concern with it would be the waterproofing compared to the harley pack.
Many don't know you can run a quick release passenger backrest with a tour pak that has no backrest. I had a hard time several years ago finding a tour pak that was not drilled for a backrest (the ads don't say) because I like rolling with whichever of my multiple passenger backrests and/or sissybars I choose to to use with my tour pak. I don't want a backrest bolted to any of my tour paks. My original OEM CVO tour pack has a backrest but I literally never use it. It's put away and currently sells for as much as many Sportsters so it's not going to get used. I get all my hardware at a local store and use primarily stainless hardware for accessories like this. Any hardware that comes with such accessories gets tossed in the junk hardware buucket...yes, that includes "genuine" Harley hardware which often comes from the same factory as these aftermarket suppliers anyway. A little hint...Harley does not actually make tour paks or the racks that hold them, they buy them under contract.
Met a guy yesterday. We talked tourpacks. He said “see that bungee? It’s holding the pack closed. I bought it on Amazon and it broke day one. Also the bottom is already cracking”. That’s why I bought OEM.

Yes, Sir!

Interested to see how it holds up. Great presentation skills. Easy to understand and covers material throughly. Thanks!
So far two trips to the Carolinas in a year with no issue

So you're basically using the liquidated ABS as filler?! Brilliant!
Looks good 👍🏾 I just installed a king size tour pack on my bike with a custom Dynamics light. Thanks 😊 for sharing
Nice! How are you liking the light for it?

Agreed. I've been on multiple out of state trips with it and never had a problem with water getting inside
good comparison....just bought one for my roadglide.. a genuine HD king tourpack in aus is nearly $5k so its worth the risk on the amazon items..
Thanks for the tips!
I like that front wheel with the blue trim. Can you tell me who makes it or where you got it?
Did it myself with some rim tape from Cycle Gear. Here's the link:

Good info!

I've got both and both have been great on several out of state trips. But I will say the OEM tour pack feels more solid for sure.
I bought an oem last week and while I have nothing to compare it to I feel it’s pretty solid and well made. The abs is pretty thick.
Looking but having trouble pinpointing the pack you ordered, link or manufacturer description would be helpful 👍
Here you go, sorry about that:

Do you have the link to this one? I searched and only found the ones with speaker cut outs and since I have a RKS, no need for those.
I found it. 😅
Lol ok good
Thanks for your review.
What Jordan 5 variant is that? They look dope.
Air Jordan 5 Anthracite.... My favorite Jordans outside my Black Cat 4s
Thanks bro! Great video btw! 🤙🏻
The one problem I'm having with mine is the left latch won't fully lock in but it's not loose or anything just took a trip and no issues
One of the hinges?
@@WeRide2probably talking about the pack mount for the quick release.
Why did u not use the plate that goes in the tourpack
The package I ordered did not come with one.
Very nice video
Thank you!
Looks decent enough for Amazon
Yeah I think it'll do nicely as a part time tour pack
the holes are marked on the inside
Not to bad
Yeah looks better than expected
Grommets
Not even close to Harley quality… Fit or finish…period
Junk
An entire video for a cheap plastic box? Lmao.
LOL yep, one out of a million. But I can't complain, it's been great on two trips to NC and a few in state trips.
@@WeRide2 you're obviously too inbred to see the insult...
Obviously LOL. But hey we have that in common! Thanks for stopping by!
@WeRide2 lol yeah I'm pretty sure that's not the case. Nice job deleting that comment by the way. Cuck.
LOL haven't deleted a thing my friend. Hang in there buddy, whatever it is you're going thru. Life's too short to waste your time trolling.
