I received one for my ‘21 RK as a “Christmas Gift” 2 years back- to me from my wife (still haven’t figured how that was MY gift, haha). TOTAL game changer for your passenger once you get that back cushion on there. Adds to comfort as well as sense of security over the sissy bar set up (which is what I had before). She went from being able to ride ~ an hour without stopping to ~2.5 hours. I’m ready to stop now before her! One other note- Kuryakyn makes a piece (two pieces of metal basically) that bolts to each side, between the pack and the mounting rack that allows you to slide your tour pack back 1-3” to the rear. This gives your passenger some more “recline” so they don’t have their knees in their chest, or if they are a bit more “front heavy” (if you follow). My wife has gone from riding with me MAYBE 20% of the time to like 80% of the time. Love your videos Cage- keep ‘em coming! Happy riding my friend.
WOW! Nice gift! Will look into the Kuryakyn piece you mentioned. Look forward to installing the back rest. Then hope to take my wife out on rides, and really it’s me who is not used to a passenger so knowing she is comfortable may make it easier for me. Would be great if I can have her with me 80% of the time. Thanks for the kind words! Take care and stay safe!
Well sir, I am no expert… but it does take some getting used to (having a passenger). Obviously, it makes you WAY more top-heavy. At speed, or when braking you won’t be able to tell much difference- maybe a bit in turns. The real difference is at really slow speed (traffic lights, etc.) Full stop and pull out still give me anxiety, haha. Just remember to pull out in a straight line and then the RK responds really well. Just my $.02.
I do not think I am going to use the back rest, but if you dab the ends of the screws from the back of the seat with something like toothpaste, then you can aim where you want it to go and drill the holes. I seen this somewhere before. Since I ride alone, at this time I am not installing the rear backrest. Sorry.
Update: hey guys, just bought a king tour pack from you….. I have a problem, I purchased the luggage rack and installed it too tightly and shattered two of the holes used to mount it. Is there any way of getting “just the lid” without buying a new tour pack??
@@jeffreyengle2762 Hi Jeffrey! For after-sales problems, please contact customer service for assistance from your purchase order. Subject to customer service reply. Thank you!
😁 I bought the same tour pack last week but I bought a different steel plate and the liner fits fine. I think the king looks good to me, and can pack a lot more and 2 size helmets. It will scratch easy so be careful.
Yeah! I think I will not store my helmet in there... But I think it looks nice and for me I do not think I will need the rack or backrest... but if I do I will install them. Packing now for a road-trip! Let's see how the tour-pack does :) Take care and stay safe!
@@CageFreeMoto I would only put my helmet in the trunk when I'm out riding and stop at store or a restaurant. That's why I went king, if not I would go chopped 👍
@@carolinarider5237 I will stick with chopped for around my stomping grounds, however, for a road trip where I may need more room the King tour-pack would work best for me.
@@carolinarider5237 I think am going to to do the same, but I do like the chopped tour-pack. But in my opinion the Road King looks nice with no tourpack and the sadden step-up seat. :). Stay safe!
OK, let’s update on this. Dude thank you so much for your video and for recommending this product why I say this because this thing is amazing why spend all that money when you can get this great built
I put on my TCMT tour-pack thinking I would only have it on for road trips, however, I am addicted to the additional space and how much easier it is to get things in and out from the rear bag (tour-pack) opposed to digging in the side saddlebags. Thanks for the comment, take care and stay safe!
Looks beautiful, well done. Can you still open the saddle bags OK? I love the idea of being able to store your helmet safely but I'm not a fan of the back rest as I don't carry a pillion. Is it available without it? What a pain having to cut the liner
Not sure if you can order separately, however, with the cost you would get the backrest and the luggage rack. I just kept the backrest in the original packaging and put it away if my wife were to show interest in riding. The price for the bundle is inexpensive, however, you may find it with just the tour-pack on the TCMT website which is listed in the description.
@@tocotoco40 Please let me know how it works out. If the product meets your expectations, inform me, and I might consider using the same for the video.
Everyone i find has holes drilled for the speakers and see yours doesn’t have it. How long ago did you get yours? I dont want those holes already drilled into mine.
About 6 months ago from when you left this comment. Did you try the link in the description? They have not speaker holes. I have been using mine since install.
There are no holes. I have received two of them and neither of them have holes. I did videos on both and one we needed to drill the holes for the docking station and the other one they were pre-drilled. Maybe they have updated them since I made the videos. Did you find they have them now?
That’s what we thought, however, we did try it the other way around. I was informed that if you buy another brand it will fit fine and avoid the issue I found. Also, TCMT is looking into this issue.
@@CageFreeMoto when I got mine, I ended up just trimming the plate so that the middle portion would bolt down nice and also by trimming the plate. It allowed plenty of space for all the wires to nicely tuck away. TCMT, if you’re reading this, please make the plate work properly, without having to make these altercations.
@@jeffreyengle2762 Yes, one of the functions of this base plate is to hide the wires. If you do not need this function, you can choose Base Plate XF111530, which is suitable. At the same time, we are also adjusting our lining, which will take a little time.
Yeah, I know where your coming from and it bugged me when I was watching other motorcycle vloggers also. Due to weather not a lot of riding and had these items. Also, I will have a video on why these items. All that said, there will be more riding videos as the season changes… but geez these storms in California are not on the same plan I am… LOL. Believe me I want more rides and just rode to SoCal in rain and the possibility of snow and ice… stay tuned. Thanks for your patience.
Great day to do some DIY. Great job and thanks for sharing. Nice size tour pack.

It looks great! Good luck on your upcoming road trip.
