It is quite obvious that Finn wanted to say to Rey that he loved her but that idea got scraped and they forgot to reshoot that scene or got lazy, as the rest of the movie, and J.J. hoped everyone would believe that what he meant to say is that he was force sensitive. Geez, the love declaration was completely telegraphed throughout the whole movie, as well as with scenes on The Force Awakens.

No one alive knows who she is, or believes that she is who she claims she is: that she indeed is the one Rey Skywalker who mysteriously vanished without a trace 60 years ago. Even the Lucasfilm crew and the KK cronies know that Rey is a disaster character that the public doesn't like... But the people in charge keep forcing her and the Sequels to appear in everything. It would be like HBO's Board of Directors insisting on putting Jared Leto's Joker in every product. This is so weird. Why can't they let it go? It's been 6 years since TLJ and 4 years since TROS and neither Rey nor the Sequels developed anything like a "cult following". • @donkeysaurusrex7881

So here’s my way to early guess at the story based on Boyega and Ray coming back. Finn is gonna self train himself, and he’ll be one of these Grey Force users they try to keep making. Ray will new Jedi including Grogu, but he’s gonna be dark side real quick since he was raised by Mandalorians but worse still trained by Luke (and that point will be harped on). Grogu will kill the other students despite Ray seemingly sacrificing herself to try to save them. This will be the first in a trilogy, and in the second movie Ray is alive and uninjured. At the end Finn kills Grogu, but not before acknowledging Ray should be a better Force user than him but her failings are really Luke’s failings in training her. The Jedi are destroyed, and Finn and Ray will train some totally much cooler Force users who don’t follow stupid Jedi rules. Maybe they’ll even acknowledge that this is what the Knights of aren really believed.

Tbh this is old news but
I just find it awesome Lindelof came up with the idea of "Old Rey" 😂, because its just goes beautifully against Disney and all their Pretty, Petite, Perfect "Disney Princess" Ideogy lol.
Oh and I mean Disney are really NOT Ageist at all are they! This is the big problem Disney are heading towards if they carry on with this attitude, in hiring then firing writers they're gonna end up with quite the reputation in Hollywood and it'll get where no writers will want to work for them.
Sure there's enough "Writers" in Hollywood, but theres not alot of Talented Writers, especially the big names with loads of experience. If Disney keep this up all these truly talented writers will just hear about what Disney are like as a company to work for and they'll just choose to avoid them, going for work somewhere else; and Disney well they'll just end up stuck with talentless hacks, desperate for work like those 2 idiots who had been trying to get their scripts bought by studios in Hollywood for like 9 yrs and nothing. I mean them 2 guys who co-wrote the disaster Rings of Power LOTR series.
Disney better fix up soon and stop being picky with these writers they keep hiring and stop firing them after they turn in just one Draft, because one day they're gonna end up in a position where they simply wont be able to be picky and fussy.

The original cast had aged 30+ years since ROTJ. So, Disney told a story that takes place 30+ years following ROTJ.
Could Disney have told a story that takes place a few years after ROTJ? Yes, of course.

An 80 year old Rey teaching two new padawans. It might have worked. Jumping forward in time and having Rey played by another older actress may have been a way to heal the anger and disgust caused by the sequels, and start a new saga in a new era. It's a viable approach, anyway.
But no, that would be like admitting Kathleen Kennedy made a mistake. Better to fire Lindelof and hire someone who will write exactly what Kennedy wants.
There is the question of why they hired Lindelof and let him work for a year if it wasn't an approach Kennedy favored, but I'm getting the impression she was checked out of the movie-making process for some time. Now she's back and determined to release another "masterpiece" by December of next year, so this project is getting her full attention.

This sort of thing happens often with big studios (writers' rooms are set up, scripts are written but writers aren't often retained), so love or loathe her, I do think Kathleen Jennedy gets a bad rap here. And then there's Lindelof himself and his cache within the fantasy fan community. Sometimes you just have to admit that he might not be THAT good and he isn't immune to situations where his ideas don't mesh with studio management. But I do agree this is happening regularly with SW and Lucasfilm, on balance a little too regularly. The problem is everything is aired so publicly, and SW is under such a microscope that any change in writers or ditching of scripts is overblown and becomes big news when, in all reality, it's just not that big a deal (it would be even less of a big deal if the series they've produced were any good, too, let's face it). What Lucasfilm needs to do is stop announcing things to appease fans until they're absolutely ready, that's something they really have been guilty of. This comes down to marketing and PR. That needs to be (and can be) waaaaay better imo.

Im sorry guys but the notion that Finn was going to tell Rey he's Force Sensitive when they were sinking...doesn't make sense. If he was, then use the flippin Force right then! (It was 90% he was talking about something else) To be fair, maybe he wasn't Force Sensitive enough in that moment to pull them out, but you'd think he'd really be concentrating on at least trying to pull them out in those short few seconds they had, rather than blathering said hypothetical sensitivity to Rey.

I am surprised you guys were so against the older rey movie. Personally I thought of that as a perfect way to retcon the sequels without retconning them, just completing wiping the slate with the story of the sequels and immediately start again with new characters. As long as the movie itself was structurally sound and well made i would be completely willing look past the weird inconsistencies of not restarting the order for 60 years if it meant we were done with sequel era content.

Lindelof stated how he thinks Yoda would have said "try, try again" (or rather 'again try, try) to him after being fired. That alone tells us that him being nowhere near any star wars project is a HUGE blessing. Yoda would not say that! In fact, he has specifically said the *opposite!* "Do or do not. There is no try". Lindelof should seek a different career for somehow misinterpreting that.

Give it a movie and Rey shall Gove both to the light side of the force... The literal light side of the force as a female girl.
Give it two movies and she will be able to blow planets up with the force.
Give it three movies and she can reverse planets that had been blown up and restore them to normal.
Rey is the Mary Sue character that thinks more powers make her more special and can fix any lack of character direction, personality, or plot issues.

In Canon comic Luke already rebuilt the order, it's even in the old video games. Jedi knight academy, with Kyle Katarn.
Rey could've had the baton passed to her by older Luke in a constructive, purposeful move.
Castrating Luke's character along with every main male character was TOTALLY uncalled for, unless Kathleen & Co. did it on purpose for 'the force is female' type reasons.
I have 0 faith or interest in upcoming movies. If Dave Filoni and/or Jon Favreau aren't involved, it'll be a sacrifice on the altar of feminism.

Damon has many successful projects under his belt and Disney’s Lucasfilm does not. The script was probably good, he did a phenomenal job with the 30 year time jump for Watchmen 2019. His endings haven’t always been good, but after broom boy Lucasfilm has proven far worse taste and bad judgment. I imagine if Boyega does return, it will be teasing a sequel where he continues what Rey was teaching, or is of an alternative philosophy regarding the force and its wielders.

Lets do a couple movies between jedi and force awakens. How about a stand alone skywalker movie with a young ben solo? Again i say use the world between worlds in a marvel fashion and change the timeline. Save Windu to the present. Build the order. Ezra ahsoka kal force ghosts etc. then show the fall of Ben Solo with some of the sequels parts and then have dark jedi and unknown sith arrive with Thrawn. If you need a cloned palpatine then he should face Windu again!

Okay, I usually don't mind you both speculating on thigs, but you have made so many wild assumptions here. There is barely any concrete information, the tiniest of scraps. And obsessing over the "60 years" thing is weird. Rey could have been teaching Jedi all that time, or some of that time, but the movie would be set 60 years later. Who knows? none of us read Damon's pitch or his script drafts. Which is a shame because he is a very skilled script-writer. I'd be interested in seeing his vision of improving the mess that are the sequels. Also, I highly doubt John Boyega would want to come back. I would not if I were him.

    • @thorskywalkerplus
      @thorskywalkerplus  Год назад +2

There's barely any concrete information... thus any speculating is indeed going to be "wild". That's a given. And what we were, um, "obsessing over" was more the stupidity of making Rey some 80 year old woman when Daisy Ridley is 30 and could be playing the character in the prime of her life. That just doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense. And apparently Disney/Lucasfilm ultimately agreed and scrapped the idea.

  • @raml.4113

I mean, clearly something happened & as long as it's not direct communication from the sources, all we have is speculation. Part of what drives traffic on RUclips is speculation on IP (now some of it is outrageous & some comes in more of a measured tone like this) What I would say is that if people think it's going to fail, it's underestimating as significant of an IP as we've ever seen. There is an industry out here based on hate for KK (& trust, I get it cause that sequel trilogy mess, my word!) But the reality is projects like Andor happened because of her existing relationship with Tony Gilroy. What some people think of her the industry for the large part doesn't - she brings in money & talent Yes, Disney is in layoff mode but people, welcome to a recession in the economy overall.
Whoemver is writing for this character simply needs to look at what Andor's creators & actors did to know that there's a harmonious balance there of action + story that can be told with her character (A character that a lot of kids have now grown up with - don't underestimate that bond) If they do that, it will succeed.
