@Panthers1521 complete wrong for the hillclimb test at the beginning . Under that condition you can manage it even with slick-tires because the other side is dry asphalt.
+Asae2 no it was not compleatly dry + that is to show how the dif splits the power that hill is a big climb to do and you could not do this whit slicks and its not about the tires its about the dif on the car
@TheLaimer exactly what i was talking about u need only a locked differential so that the left tires if they spin the right ones go with them... thnx for the further explanation
I have a long, steep driveway that's almost at the scale of San Fran's streets and I never shovel the snow or ice off of it. The xDrive in my 335i manages to get me up with no problem as long as I get a running start, lol
Just a question, An x6 comes factory installed with thin sports tires, and large rims, correct? the tires shown in this video are thick, meaning they are snow tires. Because they are thick rimed, does this also mean you need smaller rims so the tire fits in the wheel well? Seems odd that you need to keep four tires and rims in reserve just for winter.......
@FantastyckplastycK - Because of the summer tires that have no traction off road. It's very, very simple if you have any idea about cars. Put Geolander tires on the X6 and it performs the same way (or better) as any dedicated 4x4...
@FantastyckplastycK very simple, the two left tires are on snow and the two right are on a bit wet asphalt so u could climb there with any 4x4 car u would choose , like a audi or lamborghini or whatever so the right tires would grip easily on the road
Yes, I heard that too, magic fairy and thousand miniature invisible dwarfs were pulling BMW down hill. The same setup is used in every other non-BMW made test!
@GCr4ckeR What you need are lockers, you can maybe climb that hill with a 2WD if it has a lock differential, but not with an AWD car without lockers, because the left wheels would just spin...
+Gega Chiqovani that is how all cars are tested, on how the differential is divided between the wheels in such conditions. "The point of this test is to demonstrate power being transferred away from the slipping wheels and to the side that has traction. A car with an open differential and no type of traction control would just sit there and spin the tire(s) that were on the icy side." -Doctor Zaius, in one of the below comments. Please don't come back to me with stupid arguments, I don't work for BMW or any car manufacturing company for the matter of fact.
@eskon12345 i know that patrol is a great suv too... but listen to be able to really be good on snow u need some good tyres before comparing any suv engine to the other and u need to raise your car a few centimeters too... that would make a huge difference on handling and ability to drive through snow and ice and i mean by snow not a few centimeters of it but like 50 or 60.cm... :D
@Eliasmalak Hmmm...I was talking about Patrol Vs Pajero... Not Pajero Vs X5. Too bad i dont currently have engine on my patrol (Crack on Block so i took the engine out and im not really interested repairing it because it has 703tkm on the engine allready so currently trying to find another engine) Otherwise i could have done vid and show what Patrols all about. And the 1 and pretty much only reason i picked Patrol before Pajero is because the engine is way more realible
@AndrewParkerTV Hey no problem man, I did know too that He compared a Discovery with a X6 or at least show them both. Anyway, Range Rover and Bmw X6 are both amazing cars. I'd be happy to own one myself.
Good job BMW, but I'll stick to SH-AWD, less price, easy and cheap to maintain on the long run, better life out of engine, Naturally aspirated, reliable.
You know older subarus can do this. A lot of companies, even audi's quattro couldn't match the subaru's awd system, but now they're all catching up. I still think subaru will still do a little better, cause their's is symmetrical.
these are the .50i or the M versions (i think M because of the pipes) , so more than 400hp...try it with 30d, 35d or 35i and you will see the real result
that would only prove that the tires dont have any traction, it has nothing to do with the vehicle itself, so its pointless. this test was made to prove that the traction system is able to route the torque to the wheel with better grip. a regular open dif setup, even a limited slip setup would fail under this conditions.
have you ever hear that you cant climb a complete icy hill (real ice not snow) without spiked tyres? - sure not. Here you should see (ok ..everybody except you) that you need an intelligent 4 wheel drive able to notice which wheel got grip and which not.
Why cant you people understand, they are not playing around this is their job. They test what happens when you comes to a situation when the traction is lost, i would not buy a car that didn't run trough thease tests. Imagine how a car not tested in thease ways would drive on snow and ice. (exuse my english, i come from sweden where they filmed this video)
oh so an x6 can make it up a hill even if two of its tires are on ice? what if i told you that a subaru can make it up a hill with all four of its tires on ice...
@Dirtlooter the x6 looks more luxurious and welcoming.. then the x5 the x5 looks like a really nice car for a soccer mom.. haah.. the x6 has more curves.. and it looks coupish...
@eskon12345 one of the best... not :THE: best i just saw 2 x5 with snow tyres stuck while a pajero came and was able to pull em out of their situation... ;)
@Eliasmalak And based to you'r list i think you just took the oppinions of how other people think...Even the Old Range Rover's are better than Pajeros....And my oppinions are based to my own experience's. The patrol i currently have, ive had it for 11 years and it never have left me in the side of the road nor never to the forest either ;)
+Bill KIM explain bro??? or let me explain for u...x6 is much havyer so that will always make a problem for the structure of the body or under the car or the gear/ engine problems specialty the type of engine 3.0/ 3.5/ 4.0d.... the car needs a steong engine like 5.0 for example... and 5.0 engine also needs more service and more petrol than the others☺
my dad got a X6 30d and in 6 years he never changed anything fancy, just the oil and the brake pads(i dont't know if i spelled them right) so yeah... no more service than a X5
Best Snow Cars : Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero (and the sport one) Toyota Tacoma Chevrolet Avalanche Jeep Wrangler Toyota FJ Cruiser Jeep Grand Chrokee Range Rover (Old One) or just buy an M1 Abrams :P
This is an impressive test for traction control, and differential locks (Electronic center coupling in the BMW's case) but, its not that impressive anymore. pretty sure A kia could do this now. Leave a bmw on the tar.
BMW X6 BEST OF ALL.. IN CITY OR OF ROADS MAKES NO DIFFERENT FOR IT..
Nice love x6
@TheLaimer exactly what i was talking about u need only a locked differential so that the left tires if they spin the right ones go with them... thnx for the further explanation

This really comes down to good tires
@FantastyckplastycK - Because of the summer tires that have no traction off road. It's very, very simple if you have any idea about cars. Put Geolander tires on the X6 and it performs the same way (or better) as any dedicated 4x4...

@AndrewParkerTV He was tested a Range rover classic not a Discoverys.
Yes, I heard that too, magic fairy and thousand miniature invisible dwarfs were pulling BMW down hill. The same setup is used in every other non-BMW made test!
Going up and down with one side of the wheel on ice is not a big deal, my 18,000 Honda do it all the time.
Lol
what wheels and tires is the X5 using?
is is bad for the transmission to shift into reverse like that during the skidding turn?
that probably is possible in a 1 series with x drive as well, or?
@GCr4ckeR
What you need are lockers, you can maybe climb that hill with a 2WD if it has a lock differential, but not with an AWD car without lockers, because the left wheels would just spin...
These are the M versions of X5 and X6, probably equipped with performance tyres which makes this even more impressive!
good video!
Does the black one X6 ? Because they deleted the brand at the back of the car. !
This true testing proves JC's Top gear is
X-Drive: Safely Fun drive
@geati6783 it's right
@Eliasmalak Pajero the best??? How about go try Old Nissan Patrol those are just beast's ;)
where can i buy those roof- lights?
one side of the car is on ice but another is on dry road. I think it does not count...
+Gega Chiqovani that is how all cars are tested, on how the differential is divided between the wheels in such conditions.

Thats the point.
Gelsin Bizim Mesken Bayırlarını Çıksın Karda Da Görek Amg :D
Bimmer for life
You guys have to show this to Top Gear
they are having good time :D
fair test?
@eskon12345 i know that patrol is a great suv too... but listen to be able to really be good on snow u need some good tyres before comparing any suv engine to the other and u need to raise your car a few centimeters too... that would make a huge difference on handling and ability to drive through snow and ice and i mean by snow not a few centimeters of it but like 50 or 60.cm... :D
Oh yeah? which car would make it then?
@FantastyckplastycK it was just a show. That X6 had summer tires.
Guys guys we all know bmw= Brings me woman. So what? ITS THE BEST BMW FOR EVER.
X5 or X6 ?
nice tyres.
@AndrewParkerTV Hey no problem man, I did know too that He compared a Discovery with a X6 or at least show them both.

nice grip!
Good job BMW, but I'll stick to SH-AWD, less price, easy and cheap to maintain on the long run, better life out of engine, Naturally aspirated, reliable.
@mudpluga I agree. I bet it will not make it up with all 4 on ice.
awesome!
because the wheels on the right side was still on pavement, not ice/snow. if all wheels were on snow/ice/grass, itd be a different story
You know older subarus can do this. A lot of companies, even audi's quattro couldn't match the subaru's awd system, but now they're all catching up. I still think subaru will still do a little better, cause their's is symmetrical.

I'd love to work there
If you guys are jealous, rather leave no comment at all! You guys funny..

someone remind me of the time i have ever came across a road tht is half frozen... thats right NEVER!
you are right :)
this just shows to tires what about 4 tires? on ice
have you ever hear that you cant climb a complete icy hill (real ice not snow) without spiked tyres? - sure not.
Here you should see (ok ..everybody except you) that you need an intelligent 4 wheel drive able to notice which wheel got grip and which not.
Asae2 My intelligent 4 wheel drive is called locking diff... lol
just wondering when are they going to test the bmw with the tires you get when you drive it off the lot.. clearly these are not the same tires
look at q7 on this test or lexus or acura... the best is x6 ...as we say about top gear?:| kenijkfr has right...
@mudpluga happens what it will happen to any other car
M?
I like X5 more :)
not yet..
4:40 Was Sweeeet!
4:40
at 0:33 he was trying to go up but he couldnt !

требую льда под три колеса и повтора!
require ice under three wheels and repeat!
@plxplox94 very true, that show has zero credibility, its just fun to watch.
oh so an x6 can make it up a hill even if two of its tires are on ice? what if i told you that a subaru can make it up a hill with all four of its tires on ice...
what if i told you proper tires are just as important as the car they are on
FilmSupplies well i dont know about this one but the subie i saw had factory tires
FilmSupplies but the subaru and the x6 have big difference in their weight
... and santa claus comes every year !
a subaru can climb that with all 4 tires on ice only with special studded tires
@FantastyckplastycK He was faking it. He used the E brake, clearly.
X5 M BMW ///M Power
somebody gets to have a lot of fun lol
Because the X6 he was driving had summer performance tires.
I don't want their cars, but I want to have their job.
@Dirtlooter the x6 looks more luxurious and welcoming.. then the x5 the x5 looks like a really nice car for a soccer mom.. haah.. the x6 has more curves.. and it looks coupish...
@theblackcrowe2003. LOL, my 1989 Saab 900i hatch and 89' Volvo 240 Gl Wagon will do that too... !
@eskon12345 one of the best... not :THE: best i just saw 2 x5 with snow tyres stuck while a pajero came and was able to pull em out of their situation... ;)
"ice climbing" why only left part was cover by ice cos they both crap off road
Quattro and xdrive
hmmm let me see I was talking about x5 :D I wouldn't ever get x6. x5 or m6 thats it. X5 was always the best in bmw.
I wouldn't drive it anywhere off a dry smooth pavement...
You have ZAZ, you-CHMO.
x6
me shoked :)
ma che test è ?????
una ruota è sull asfalto senza ghiaccio x forza si muove .....
X5 !!!!!
hahaha bmw x6 :)
rear seat conversion kit 5 passenger!
It's cool
bmwx6.eu
x6
bmw x5 is much better car than x6 ..... also x5 needs less services than x6...
+Aso Koy The reality is that the x5 require much more repairs than x6
+Bill KIM explain bro??? or let me explain for u...x6 is much havyer so that will always make a problem for the structure of the body or under the car or the gear/ engine problems specialty the type of engine 3.0/ 3.5/ 4.0d.... the car needs a steong engine like 5.0 for example... and 5.0 engine also needs more service and more petrol than the others☺
+Aso Koy do you have X6..?
my dad got a X6 30d and in 6 years he never changed anything fancy, just
the oil and the brake pads(i dont't know if i spelled them right) so
yeah... no more service than a X5
Same thing to me..! my dad have X6 3.5i with 100000 on the clock without a single problem..
Best Snow Cars :
Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero (and the sport one)
Toyota Tacoma
Chevrolet Avalanche
Jeep Wrangler
Toyota FJ Cruiser
Jeep Grand Chrokee
Range Rover (Old One)
or just buy an
M1 Abrams :P
fail test because you dont have snow/ice on both sides of the car so it'll grip and compensate in the side thats clear of snow/ice...
Don’t need a bmw for this test…lol
BMW - X6
People stupid this is not the original tire.. The original one is wide this is for Nissan ffs
x6 vedro,x5 53 body forever
my dad has 2018 bmw x6 sı
Congratulations.
Well, I disagree with you gentleman, I would rather have them go even further to see what comes out of it. Although its just matter of tastes...
Haters gonna hate...
@d0gyface need better tires ;)
kkk thanks bro but
it's nothing like acura no matter what ^_^
👍👍👍👍👍☝👍👍
This is an impressive test for traction control, and differential locks (Electronic center coupling in the BMW's case) but, its not that impressive anymore. pretty sure A kia could do this now. Leave a bmw on the tar.
why the fuck couldn't jeremy clarkson drive up the grassy hill in x6?!
👍👏👏
This all 4 wheel drive car can do..
@theblackcrowe2003 - you wanna a medal or a chest to put it on? Why mock? What is your point? That you want one but cant afford one?
i wish i was a tester
