Witch Hat Atelier has a gorgeous art style too! The artist, Kamome Shirahama once worked for Marvel and Dc Comics before moving on to create her own works. It started in 2016 and is still ongoing as we are still in the beginning of the story. I'll give a short synopsis but I highly recommend looking at it, if not for the story then at least the art: The main character, Coco, falls victim to an attack by Illegal Magic Witches, called, 'Brimhats,' and is taken in by a Pointed Hat Witch mentor called Professor Qifrey. At his Atelier she is raised along his other three apprentices, and fellow witch Olruggio who acts as his watchful eye (makes sure Qifrey doesn't do anthing illegal). We follow their journey through and learn the laws of Witches, the magic system, the ethics of said witch laws, and meet other characters along the way. Coco is the outsider of said story and the audience is learning along with her. The story also covers topics of disability, surviving abuse, learning how to discover your place in the world, how to deal with burn out, and other difficult topics but I feel they are handled very well.

I just binged this and wow, what an inspired and cool little series it has been so far. The story isn't anything crazy, but the theme of recycling and re-using as well as cherishing useful items is pretty refreshing without coming across across as a preachy environmentalist message. Protagonist boy is kind of just a goldfish-eyed weirdo who isn't too bland or too edgy, just kind of nicely balanced in the middle of being weird and cool. The art's fantastic. What really got me was that background panel you showed, as well as the axe hands one. That type of shading is absolutely insane. Another artist you can study for impossible angles and insanely good anatomy and posing, is Kohei Horikoshi, author of My Hero Academia. He's honestly one of the best mangaka I've ever seen.

So I’m gonna be that guy, you should check out some of Miura’s artwork. The way that he draws expressions on people. the amount of detail that he puts into just a single panel, for even just an establishing shot. Its immaculate.

But the part where you talked about the structure of the eye and claimed almost nobody ever draw it like her made me kinda laugh, bc just from my followed artists on instagram I could think of two dozen who do draw stylistic and yet anatomically and dimensionally correct eyes. Any moderate level artists who draw people know that the pupils are concave and that the eyeball is akin shaped to an egg, not a sphere, and if they don't draw them like that then it's simply just a stylistic choice. youre mentioning anatomy, character design and all that stuff which youre absolutely right about being important, but all of those things are tired together by one key thing: clear and readable shapes. like if you ever look at a drawing that just looks satisfying to look at because its seems 3D, its because of the shapes being drawn perfectly. thats the foundation, anatomy and character designs are layers that sit on top of that.
For the paneling this is truly inspired from Atsushi's works I remember reading both Soul Eater and Fire Force and being genuinely impressed and having to stop just to admire how cool the paneling design was.

Gachiakuta glazing lets goooo 🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥 I've been following this manga very closely and its artstyle is what made so fall in love with it. The artist isnt afraid to make exaggerated proportions that pop out so distinctly and appealing. This also translates so well into fight scenes, leading to MANY beautiful action poses that shows the character's intensity in that moment AND IT'S NOT JUST THE ARTSTYLE! The power system is unbelievably refreshing, as well as the story being intriguing. The characters have a fun dynamic and their personalities bounce so well. Thank you for articulating how much I really love this series, it really deserves that amount of praise and I hope it gets a proper adaptation that does this manga justice. If you're looking for a sign to read this manga, then try it out! It has everything a typical shonen manga is going to offer, just with a pinch of wacky insane characters. Also, the first few chapters are a bit slow but it eventually picks up!

At this point, Gege Akutami should take some notes on this level of art in a week 😭😭😭
i went to the bookstore two days ago and among all the comics only THIS one cought my eye, i had to do a double take and turn back to go see it because the cover only was terrific. I will go back and buy the whole series now omg this is so stunning and inspiring
Their art style is pretty much exactly how my mind thinks of manga concepts, so when i finally found an artist that draws how i think, they immediately became my favourite artist that i want to learn to study from, because i sadly can't draw like that yet, but it's ligit the first manga artist i saw who draws how i always think.
Gachiakuta glazing lets goooo 🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've been following this manga very closely and its artstyle is what made so fall in love with it. The artist isnt afraid to make exaggerated proportions that pop out so distinctly and appealing. This also translates so well into fight scenes, leading to MANY beautiful action poses that shows the character's intensity in that moment
AND IT'S NOT JUST THE ARTSTYLE!
Also, the first few chapters are a bit slow but it eventually picks up!
dawg my jaw has been touching the floor for the past 4 minutes. This is eye candy to me.
If you want more manga with beautiful paneling, try Witch Hat Atelier.
3:55 so who's gonna tell him
I'll take Bones over Trigger everytime
Gachiakuta by far my fav new-gen, its so peak
there's artists with great technical skill, there's artists with great stylization and creativity for visuals, there's artists who have both, and theres oda
I really hope this manga gets adapted bc I absolutely loved the story and art style.

lowkey at 3:43 i thought he was going to say exaggerated swagger of a black teen not a Japanese mangaka

As someone who love atshushi okubo ,its so amazing to find something similar . Stylized art is just incredible
I just read the whole manga(that has come out so far) and omg i couldn't agree with this video more. This manga literally shatters every limit that its a set for a manga and does it good. The art is phenomenal and changes depading on the physiological state of the depicting individual its so fucking good and the story so interesting AND when i first looked at this art I knew that if it gets animated TRIGGERS gotta do it, it's literally their style, like Gurren Lagann, Kill la kill and Cyberpunk!!
Great video. Also good luck on your art journey
so it's not trigger... but BONES got their hands on it. hopefully they don't mess it up. (also "BONES" is included in the chapter 101 special page in the bottom left corner.)
I need a studio trigger anime of this now!
