@@coggsie No worries! Also, both Hideyoshi Andou and Urana Kei were working on Fire Force together. They thought it'd be really cool to make a manga where a traditional artist collaborates with a graffiti artist and that's how we got Gachiakuta!

Dont give into despair. its easy to look at other artists and feel discouraged because you never saw their struggle and hard work to get to where they are now. you only see the end product, their success. the truth is artists spend YEARS mastering their craft and the best way right now is to study the art fundamentals: gesture drawing, proportion, anatomy, perspective, etc. Its hard but worth it. The story isn't anything crazy, but the theme of recycling and re-using as well as cherishing useful items is pretty refreshing without coming across across as a preachy environmentalist message. Protagonist boy is kind of just a goldfish-eyed weirdo who isn't too bland or too edgy, just kind of nicely balanced in the middle of being weird and cool. The art's fantastic. My friend and I were pixel-peeping at some of the shots debating on whether or not digital techniques had been used on certain smears, etc. But there's an amazing level of patience and technical skill on display in pretty much every page.

Look, I also really love Urana Kei to bits. But the part where you talked about the structure of the eye and claimed almost nobody ever draw it like her made me kinda laugh, bc just from my followed artists on instagram I could think of two dozen who do draw stylistic and yet anatomically and dimensionally correct eyes. Any moderate level artists who draw people know that the pupils are concave and that the eyeball is akin shaped to an egg, not a sphere, and if they don't draw them like that then it's simply just a stylistic choice. Same with the hair: we're advised to think of it's overall shape and structure rather than in strands. Actually, that's how they advise us to draw anything, shapes before details and bam! Clarity and foundation.
Overall enjoyed the video. I also really love geeking out on manga and it's underrated art.

Witch Hat Atelier has a gorgeous art style too! The artist, Kamome Shirahama once worked for Marvel and Dc Comics before moving on to create her own works. It started in 2016 and is still ongoing as we are still in the beginning of the story.
I'll give a short synopsis but I highly recommend looking at it, if not for the story then at least the art:
The main character, Coco, falls victim to an attack by Illegal Magic Witches, called, 'Brimhats,' and is taken in by a Pointed Hat Witch mentor called Professor Qifrey. At his Atelier she is raised along his other three apprentices, and fellow witch Olruggio who acts as his watchful eye (makes sure Qifrey doesn't do anthing illegal). We follow their journey through and learn the laws of Witches, the magic system, the ethics of said witch laws, and meet other characters along the way. Coco is the outsider of said story and the audience is learning along with her.
The story also covers topics of disability, surviving abuse, learning how to discover your place in the world, how to deal with burn out, and other difficult topics but I feel they are handled very well.

    Gachiakuta glazing lets goooo 🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥
I've been following this manga very closely and its artstyle is what made so fall in love with it. The artist isnt afraid to make exaggerated proportions that pop out so distinctly and appealing. This also translates so well into fight scenes, leading to MANY beautiful action poses that shows the character's intensity in that moment
AND IT'S NOT JUST THE ARTSTYLE! The power system is unbelievably refreshing, as well as the story being intriguing. The characters have a fun dynamic and their personalities bounce so well. Thank you for articulating how much I really love this series, it really deserves that amount of praise and I hope it gets a proper adaptation that does this manga justice.
If you're looking for a sign to read this manga, then try it out! It has everything a typical shonen manga is going to offer, just with a pinch of wacky insane characters. Also, the first few chapters are a bit slow but it eventually picks up!

It you haven't already you need to check out Dandadan. Its almost unbelievable that its a weekly release series considering just how detailed the art is. And no exageration Dandadan has the best double spreads in the game right now bar none, every few chapters theres a new double spread that knocks your socks off as much if not more than the last. Its beyond impressive.

Thank you for introducing me to this artist!! Is the manga available anywhere to read online, or card copy only? I NEED to inject this art into my veins, like--NOW!
Also--your editing is very clear and humorous, I love it.

You're using this manga as your main source of references to study from? Definitely draw inspiration from other art styles but if you don't also equally use real-life references to learn the rules, you'll never be able to bend and break the rules so effectively like this mangaka does. Like I can tell that your knowledge on anatomy isn't mega strong from the drawings you showed. Obviously ignore me if you enjoy drawing just for fun, but if you find yourself getting frustrated about stunted growth this is definitely why! (Take it from someone who learned the hard way :') ) Loved the review though, you made me pause 2 mins in to go order the first volume lol

I'm glad more people are taliking about gachiakuta. personally for me the thing I like the most about the manga are it's inkwork and the dynamic and very much motion packed fights. before this vid I didn't even know that the mangaka was female. I think she did extremely well creating such a great manga with a unique art style

Gachiakuta, Dandadan, Sakomoto Days better get the Animation they deserve, already kind of lost hope for Blue Lock being animated by Production I.G. like Haikyuu, Ao Ashi, & Kuroko’s Basketball, hopefully more diverse & amazing studios start picking up more anime with diverse art style, because some mangas are suffering with the studios picked for their series.

Not only is the art amazing, the choreography is on the same level as JJK and Sakamoto days, as in it's perfect. These fight scenes (and even other, more regular scenes) have a better flow than a lot of actually animated series.

I just read the whole manga(that has come out so far) and omg i couldn't agree with this video more. This manga literally shatters every limit that its a set for a manga and does it good. The art is phenomenal and changes depading on the physiological state of the depicting individual its so fucking good and the story so interesting AND when i first looked at this art I knew that if it gets animated TRIGGERS gotta do it, it's literally their style, like Gurren Lagann, Kill la kill and Cyberpunk!!
