  • Today we dive into English rock band OASIS. "Supersonic" was the lead and debut dingle off their first studio album Definitely Maybe released in April 1994. The brothers Gallagher capture the quintessential 90's alt. rock scene with this tune!

Supersonic is one of those songs that grows and grows on you, after the 10th listen you absolutely love it. Great band - kind of horrible people a lot of the time. The internal issues essentially come down to the fact that they in general treated each other like the enemy way too often and that's just not sustainable long-term especially when you throw in substance abuse issues.

      @@mana3735 - Seriously - they forced their drummer out because he didn't let them walk over him and had a bit of backbone which the brothers didn't really like or he couldn't drum well dependin on who you believe. The bassist and other guitarist eventually quit and reportedly dont speak to the Gallagher brothers (according to the Gallagher brothers) Alan eventually quit and Noel and Liam dont have any real relationship anymore. That's pretty much the definition of dysfuntion. The stories of their horrible behaviour to each other and others are legendary. Both Noel and Liam seem like they have settled down a lot and the worst of their behavioural quirks are over and both admit they were pretty horrible back then. It's a crying shame because they were an amazing band with fantastic songs but you watch things like Liam's meltdown at Wembley and you see a young man struggling with substance abuse issues losing it completely.

    • @alphaomega7191
      @alphaomega7191 Год назад

      @@mana3735 - No being dysfunctional doesn't make them horrible - the way they treated people does though. Their behaviour towards other people was legendarily awful and abusive (their behaviour towards each other was much the same). A lot of it was drug & alcohol induced of course but it still doesn't change or excuse the fact that they treated people like crap. Noel realised that pretty early after the disastrous Ferry crossing in 94 - he's gone to sleep but the other 4 got so wasted and into so much trouble with their running amok that when he woke up in Amsterdam it was to the news that they were being taken off the Ferry in handcuffs before being deported and their first overseas tour is gone before it's even begun. It's one of the reasons why he instituted the drug and alcohol ban during recording sessions later to try to keep Liam on track but it caused McGuigan to quit because ... well apparently he needed his drugs more than the band and it wasn't long after Bonehead went. Drunks and people on drugs aren't necessarily horrible people but angry abusive drunks & addicts tend to be and sadly some people in Oasis were angry drunks. Super talented and entertaining as a band but honestly they acted like complete tools to most everyone around them in their prime. Noel is definitely not like that now and Liam seems better too but that doesn't change the fact that when they were at their peak success wise their behaviour was pretty darn awful.
