thank god i thought i was going to have to be /that guy/ who asks for the full list I love this vid ALOT ive always wanted to get into dancing because of film they just look so caught up i want that
Thank you for this video, truly, it's breathtakingly beautiful and by the end of it I was soaring high. Love for film transpires throughout the whole 10 minutes, as does the care and love you carry for your subscribers. May you have a wonderful year, for you certainly have made the beginning of mine so. P.S.: If it's not a bother, could you please tell me the name of the music used in this video?
This moved me to tears. Not only must it have taken an incredible amount of time to edit, but just seeing the history of the art of cinema unfolding in dance to one of my favourite film scores of all time was absolutely mesmerizing. Well done sir!
The Cat Returns is a very special movie for me. It was there for me in a dark time and I literally click on anything with it in the thumbnail. I kept watching just to see that one second clip and honestly by the end I was in tears. What better way to celebrate dancing on film than by showcasing it and letting the emotional power of one of the oldest and most universal forms of communication star the show. Thank you so much for this experience. Happy new year.
I'm not really sure what it is about your content, but every time I find myself watching, I'm somewhat encouraged to do something artful myself. You've got this particular aura about your work, talking or not, that makes the videos seem heartful and personal. Keep up the beautiful work, keep publishing content, you're the best.
You know whenever I hear a youtuber make some canned statement like "Thank you all" "I love you" "Don't try this at home" it usually sounds forced and fake, but when Breadsword says it, it sounds earnest. Him and Styropyro are the only ones I believe with those lines.
Who knew that 1-3 seconds of dancing could make me want to see so many films, also you should do a video on A Knights Tale. I feel like that movie doesnt get enough praise and its blend of classic rock and knightly action perfectly compliment eachother.
I’ve gotten into the habit of watching this at the end of each semester since starting my masters degree and it makes me break out of writers block and get a good cry each time. It’s hit harder this time since I just lost my grandmother, but I really needed a cry that wasn’t fueled by my own grief. Thank you truly for making something like this. I needed it today.
Lowkey I just think it slaps and the DJ Screw song I wanted to use didn't fit well enough BUT!!! I do think Cloud Atlas' theme of how tightly wound our experiences are to one another and how much influence each life carries totally applies to the constant iteration and evolution in cinema and how magical humanity and what we create can be!
When i realized that you weren’t going to explain anything in this vid, i thought to myself that this was going to be a boring video. But as I continued to watch, I realized, that through these amalgamation of dances accompanied by the enduringly beautiful music, cinema has collectively shown me that throughout it’s differing genres, it will always have one thing in common, humanity. It is prevalent in every movie, no matter the story, and dances is one such form of humanity that connects almost all films. It is among the many perfect metaphors of us. That throughout the ages, our ups and downs, our waxing and waning, our rise and falls, humanity will keep on blindly dancing, always hopeful, of a brighter future ahead and good times. It’s a beautiful thing actually, how we express our emotions in motion instead of mouth, how it conveys a message universally understood by all humans. And I believe that we will keep on dancing, through the hardships and depressions of life. Though what do i know, I’m just a cat. Keep on dancing friends, and never stop. Thanks for the vid bread man with a sword
I know this is one of your less popular videos, but I come back to it every year. It’s a new year’s tradition for me and my partner. Thank you for giving us that.
You're the only video essay channel on RUclips that keeps me captivated with whatever you put out. You talked about my favorite animated film, Treasure Planet, hell you made me care about the live action Cat in the Hat in a way I had never before. Keep going strong, Sourdough Claymore. Happy New Year's.
What a stunning way to look at the art form, dance is so omnipresent in all genres and eras of film, and seeing how everything has evolved through that lens is just gorgeous. I feel happy, calm and content having seen this video tonight.
This is such a feat of editing and film history. I’m absolutely blown away by this. It’s pretty incredible what you did here. Not only does it make me want to go back and watch so many of these films, which is probably part of your point, but also how varied and uniquely beautiful all the forms of dance that have been captured on film have been, and what a wide range of emotions and feelings they invoke. Your awesome.
This evoked the same emotions as watching the movie UP This feels like a love letter to an extremely underappreciated form of art, an extremely underappreciated piece of human nature and I almost cried again
There's this thing ya do with these videos man. I go from that feeling right before you laugh to that one right before you cry. Ya know pull on the sides of the mouth and that burn behind the eyes. Its not jarring or rapid, just a thing j noticed. Not at all a complaint, may this year bring you success and fulfillment. You do spectacular work.
Hi, I'm the bread roll patreons Aka and Dovah, we really love your content and have been following you for a couple years, my point is, I'm genuinely happy to finally be able to support one of my favorite content creators on here in some way, your thoughtful video essays have been inspiring for editing and story analysis, also the bgm choices are always great. i hope we can see plenty more from you in the 2020's bread, thanks for doing what you're doing man.
I'm constantly telling friends why they should be subbed to you and this is another reason why!! Keep being awesome and I can't wait for what you have in store this year!!
I was waiting for the smooth voice of Bready to come out saying something like "over the entire history of film and cinema, there has been one consistent thing, and that, is dancing. Unlike other visual art forms like paintings or nature, dance cannot be accurately captured without the aid of a moving medium. You see, dance isn't so much about what is happening at this very instant, but what has already happened and what will happen. I could show you a picture of a dancer while dancing, and no matter how perfectly timed and composed the shot is, it doesn't tell the whole story. Think of it this way, when your mom wanted to take a picture of you as a child, did she tell you to move around or stay still? If she was anything like my mom, she said to stay still, because pictures are an instant, the present. However, dancing is defined by it's movement, not only the present, but the past and future as well." I could keep going, but I don't want to leave at least SOME writing to breadsword.
Mr. Sword, I honestly believe this is the best video you have ever made. I am not trying to take away however many hours you spend on each and every video, and I am not trying to take away the amount of passion you clearly use on every upload. I simply believe that this video will stand the test of time as a testament to the true human spirit like no other video on this site will. good on ya for that one bud.
So.....I was crying by the Gene Kelly era... But seriously, grew up watching Golden Age musicals, and dance on film is one of the most profoundly beautiful things about film for me. and so different than seeing live dance, which I still love. But the heightened element of camera work, and being able to see things like footwork up close, it's just magical.
I watch this every few months just to appreciate the dedication it took to create this. I try to watch a few more of the movies before watching it again so that I can have new connections/sentiments to the clips shown. I cried the hardest watching it this time, it’s been a difficult 3 years, but I also never thought I’d be this happy. Belated Happy New Year’s Breadsword, hope to see more of you soon
I saw the thumbnail at work and lost my shit- couldn't wait to watch at home. Favorite RUclipsr using my favorite movie for his thumbnail? Fuck yeah. This was awesome- the opposite of what I expected incredible still. It goes to show that dancing is and always will be such a huge part of human expression and culture. Reminds me to enjoy myself while I dance, because it's something to share
This video gave me a feeling that life is very beautiful. I made a little game of trying to guess when the next decade started, only to see that we have always danced, long before film. We will keep dancing. Alone, together, humans will move in order to express themselves. For if we can not talk or sing, we dance.
Happy new year! I have been watching this every year for three years now, It’s become an essential way of closing out the old year and bringing in the new for me. Thank you for this masterpiece!
seeing animated films and clips from different cultures throughout made me really happy. your videos always make make me feel something whether i've seen the films you're talking about or not, and i'm not sure what it is. thanks for making me feel when few things can lately.
What a brilliant, unusual and beautiful piece of work. I especially love the music accompanying it - it swoops and swirls and pulls your heart along in a way I have no words to describe. All I can say is thank you and I can't wait to see what else you do!
I clicked on the notification as soon as I saw it; a new year's video from you is certainly a great way of starting off the new year. I hope your 2020 brings you as much joy as your videos bring us, dear breadboi
Brought to tears by the way that you express dance through the score, editing, and the intertwining of culture and style over time in this series of throbbing, orchestral movements from shot to shot.
You’re editing was phenomenal. Your ability to use motion to guide the viewer’s eye from cut to cut with such seamless and congruent flow made this a joy to watch and a touching ode to the expressive nature of motion itself, in both the mediums of dance and film.
It absolutely frustrates me to all hell how few people appreciate how great of a storyteller you are. May I eat these words in the near future when you're pulling in millions of views.
Omg i clicked on this video immideately just because of the thumbnail, since Cat Returns is one of my childhoods most important movies, but this whole video ia honestly so beautiful :') Really makes me wanna go out there a dance myself! Cant imagine how long gathering all these clips mustve taken, good job!!
BRO holy CRAP; That was so beautiful and emotional, and now I want to show it to everyone I know. I love that you can try new stuff like this, never stop creating :)
I got excited expecting a short synopsis of how dance has evolved and been included in film. What I got was much better. I found myself smiling at my screen watching actors, actresses, and characters move in elation to the awesome and jovial piece you put in the video. Thanks for starting the New Year off right. Love you, love your videos
Your videos never fail to move my soul and spirit, no matter what theme or topic you tackle. Happy new year, I look forward to what you'll deliver next!
I have stared at this video for months, loving everyone of your other videos, and waiting for lupin's video to come out. I finally click it and everything about it moves me. One of the greatest videos on the platform.
This video made my heart exploded with warmth and comfort. Dance is always something I find to be magical and you captured that magic well in ten minutes.
This is an amazing video, thank you for taking the time to make it. So lovely you also used the beautiful soundtrack from Cloud Atlas. I showed it to my students in my high school dance class it was funny to watch how, slowly but surely, one by one began paying attention and they were totally into it the last couple of minutes. :)
As always, this was different but very very amazing in every way. Please keep up the amazing work! (also nice references to one of your more early videos!!)
Keep up the amazing work my man; there hasn't been a single video that I haven't been excited to see. Here's to another great year of great work. Happy new year, BreadSword.

I love this vid ALOT ive always wanted to get into dancing because of film
they just look so caught up
i want that
Thank you very much for this.
BREADSWORD there was an ad on mine 😌
Thank you 💞💞
When you can't talk anymore...
You Sing....
When you Can't Sing anymore...
You Dance.
Precisely!
And if you can't even dance....
you find someone to carry you...
And if, just if, there's no one to carry you...
You crawl forward...
Took about two minutes before I realized you weren’t going to speak 😂😂
LMFAOOO we silent boiz now
Brenin Watson at 2 min I was like "that's a pretty long intro" and then I just enjoyed the show 😄
I think you could literally do a video on "Potatoes appearances in film" and make it fascinating.
I need you to know it is your fault when my next video is just analysis of potato-related films
(thank you so so much I love u)
It would have been preferable lol
What's... taters, precious?
"There's a lot more of you guys than there used to be." Of course there are, because real recognizes real. You deserve it.
Crying in the club right now THANK YOU
@@BREADSWORD You have lightning in a bottle man, of course we're here for you. Happy New Year! Here's to another year of success.
I really love this video.
i love you ;)
bro how did I JUST see this lmfao thank you so much!!!
This moved me to tears. Not only must it have taken an incredible amount of time to edit, but just seeing the history of the art of cinema unfolding in dance to one of my favourite film scores of all time was absolutely mesmerizing. Well done sir!
0.21 instantly hit the like button
I love the Cloud Atlas soundtrack but I do not understand what it has to do with dance
@@yosoyunapina I think he just used it because he liked it, not because it was really conected to dance =)
could not agree more! the editing is amazing felt like watching humanity in dance. it's beautiful
How to know 2020 is going to be a top tier year: Breadsword uploads on new years 👌🏼
YOOOO HAPPY NEW YEAR THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORDS
This comment did not age well...
@@TheZombiemiltant yikes, I know! I cant believe this happened 😭
Yeah now you are here and realize how bad the year has been. Thank you sword for uploading but fuck this comment
So much hope in this comment
Bread you just took me to a whole other world in just 8 minutes. I am FLOORED with how much emotion is just pouring out of this!
that's the only thing I could hope to do bro thank you so much
The Cat Returns is a very special movie for me.
I'm so so glad you enjoyed it!!! The Cat Returns is beautiful and I'm so happy its use in the video resonated with you!
I'm not really sure what it is about your content, but every time I find myself watching, I'm somewhat encouraged to do something artful myself. You've got this particular aura about your work, talking or not, that makes the videos seem heartful and personal. Keep up the beautiful work, keep publishing content, you're the best.
Man, times like this where I wish I can click "love" on a video instead of just clickin a like button. Killed it yet again dude!
I don't know 99% of these movies but i can't help but feel somewhat nostalgic while watching
If anyone reports this video for that brief scene you're actually a coward. Beautiful video.
I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed it lol.
Didn't know I was in for an 8 minute feels trip
You know whenever I hear a youtuber make some canned statement like "Thank you all" "I love you" "Don't try this at home" it usually sounds forced and fake, but when Breadsword says it, it sounds earnest.
Him and Styropyro are the only ones I believe with those lines.
I am making it a mission to watch every single one of these movies this year.
After I watched this video I had to go a rewatch "The Cat's Return" just because of the thumbnail
Me seeing a couple Yorgos films in there: ah yes, a man of culture
my boy Yorgos a baby genius boy fr
Now we need "A brief history of kisses on film", something worth to celebrate
Basically, the last scene in Cinema Paradiso =D
Love every minute of this i love how you added animated dancing as well.
Seeing his new videos in the notifications automatically makes the whole day a million times better!
Reading this made MINE a million times better!
Yo bread, what was it like to edit this?
Highly under-appreciated, thought-provoking channel here, everyone needs to hype this guy up! Happy new year/decade!
Yooo thank you so much bro! Happy New Year!!!
Starting my year off the right way.
and I hope it is the absolute best year you've ever had!
😐(stares in silence)
*Cough* *Cough*
Who knew that 1-3 seconds of dancing could make me want to see so many films, also you should do a video on A Knights Tale. I feel like that movie doesnt get enough praise and its blend of classic rock and knightly action perfectly compliment eachother.
Just became a patron
I’ve gotten into the habit of watching this at the end of each semester since starting my masters degree and it makes me break out of writers block and get a good cry each time. It’s hit harder this time since I just lost my grandmother, but I really needed a cry that wasn’t fueled by my own grief. Thank you truly for making something like this. I needed it today.
I have to imagine the use of the Cloud Atlas Sextet has another layer of meaning.
Lowkey I just think it slaps and the DJ Screw song I wanted to use didn't fit well enough BUT!!! I do think Cloud Atlas' theme of how tightly wound our experiences are to one another and how much influence each life carries totally applies to the constant iteration and evolution in cinema and how magical humanity and what we create can be!
holy moly, I've never been this early to a Breadword vid
LMFAO you were here before I even posted it on twitter! Such haste!
I think its fascinating that, regardless of the time, culture, or medium, the same raw emotion shines through. Dancing is truly amazing.
It is truly, truly timeless and deeply, deeply mesmerizing for sure!
@@BREADSWORD omfg breads I love u sm
What a way to kick off the decade huh
I know this is one of your less popular videos, but I come back to it every year. It’s a new year’s tradition for me and my partner. Thank you for giving us that.
Legit starting crying 4 minutes in. You’re one of the few people on youtube who’s videos I genuinely enjoy watching. This was beautifully done
The Media explicating king has returned 🙌🏽
Anybody tell this dude he's a genius, yet?
*King is close, I guess.*
❤️❤️❤️ and we back and we back and we back
What a stunning way to look at the art form, dance is so omnipresent in all genres and eras of film, and seeing how everything has evolved through that lens is just gorgeous. I feel happy, calm and content having seen this video tonight.
i LOVE the cloud atlas theme, makes my day to hear it :)
Your awesome.
yo thank you so so much!!!
I was watching this with the sound off while who let the dogs out was playing in the background. Am I going to hell?
LMFAOOOO I was going to use a DJ Screw song originally so don't feel too bad!
Is there a list? I would really like to watch some of these but don't know the name.
This honestly made my heart skip, it was so beautiful and powerful
Yo thank you so much! I'm so glad it has the intended effect on people!!!
bread baked a big ol’ loaf today
Personally I would have prefer an essay on "Cats Don't Dance" would be popular with people laughing at that flop Cats failing at the box office
This evoked the same emotions as watching the movie UP
This feels like a love letter to an extremely underappreciated form of art, an extremely underappreciated piece of human nature and I almost cried again
Thank you so so so so much for the kind words! This means a ton bro fr! I hope you have a good year!!!
Every now and then I come back to this video when I need 10 minutes of peace and joy in my day. Thank you for making it.
Ayyyy thank you so much bro!!! I hope your year is 10/10!!
However, dancing is defined by it's movement, not only the present, but the past and future as well."
I could keep going, but I don't want to leave at least SOME writing to breadsword.
Thank you so much for putting all the scenes in order in the description!! You put in so much work for us 😍
This video gave me a feeling that life is very beautiful.
I made a little game of trying to guess when the next decade started, only to see that we have always danced, long before film. We will keep dancing. Alone, together, humans will move in order to express themselves.
For if we can not talk or sing, we dance.
this reminds me just how much i love cinema
Happy new year! I have been watching this every year for three years now, It’s become an essential way of closing out the old year and bringing in the new for me. Thank you for this masterpiece!
seeing animated films and clips from different cultures throughout made me really happy. your videos always make make me feel something whether i've seen the films you're talking about or not, and i'm not sure what it is. thanks for making me feel when few things can lately.
I'm glad that this is on your home page. It's Beautiful & has the spirit/ emotion of your videos without saying a thing. Just amazing.
Every video you put out its a gem, i love your videos, so relaxing and full of magnificent elegance
Seeing Labyrinth and Peter Pan 2003 had me shouting for joy.
This is a gorgeously curated video! Thank you for taking the time to make this for us.
What a brilliant, unusual and beautiful piece of work. I especially love the music accompanying it - it swoops and swirls and pulls your heart along in a way I have no words to describe. All I can say is thank you and I can't wait to see what else you do!
This was absolutely beautiful!!! Thanks, Bread Man for always uploading the most moving and powerful videos
I clicked on the notification as soon as I saw it; a new year's video from you is certainly a great way of starting off the new year. I hope your 2020 brings you as much joy as your videos bring us, dear breadboi
HAPPY NEW YEAR BRO LOVE YOU LOVE YOU LOVE YOU
I love this. Great start to 2020 for your content!
Great way to start the year! Can't wait to see what this decade holds! Keep up the fantastic work!
Fantastic!! Such a wide pull from so many wonderful scenes! The love and dedication is simply suberb!
Omg i clicked on this video immideately just because of the thumbnail, since Cat Returns is one of my childhoods most important movies, but this whole video ia honestly so beautiful :')
Really makes me wanna go out there a dance myself! Cant imagine how long gathering all these clips mustve taken, good job!!
I'm in tears. You're best video yet.
Wow.. I really appreciate the dedication that making this must've taken! Wonderful job, breadsword!
Yooo thank you so much bro!!! Kind words like these make the effort worth it!
I love this so much thanks so much for the time you spent making this 💞
My first time watching one of your videos and I’m already crying! Thank you ❤️
BRO holy CRAP; That was so beautiful and emotional, and now I want to show it to everyone I know. I love that you can try new stuff like this, never stop creating :)
Loved the video the music alone was enough to get me to watch the whole thing happy new year!
This was absolutely breathtaking and i smiled the entire time :) thank you so much breadsword, you calmed my mind.
Your videos are always a pleasure to watch but this one, this one is my favorite. Thank you and Happy New Year.
Wow, a lot of time, effort, energy and editing went into this. Well done, this was a pleasure to watch.
Every video you make is a delight. It’s the best part of any day seeing your uploads.
This video made my heart exploded with warmth and comfort. Dance is always something I find to be magical and you captured that magic well in ten minutes.
I've rewatched this video at least a dozen times. Stunning work.
Bro, you dazzle my brain every time you upload. As usual the video was beautiful, thank you.
This video moved me. By the end of it, i got teared up. It reminded me why dancing is a sign of life. Thank you so much for making this.
This is why I break into dance at random times. For all these reasons. This video is breathtaking in many ways. Thank you.
WHAT POWER IT IS TO BE EARLY TO A BREADSWORD VIDEO
Beautiful and the music brought such great emotional depth to it. Loved it.

OMG dude, amazing. I'm so proud to be a patreon, this video was an experience. Thank you!✨
This guys videos are insane and they always make me smile thanks breadsword keep it up.
Ok but I didn’t go into this expecting to cry really fucking hard. Dude.
I cannot express how this cut means to me. Through the tears and catharsis it all becomes joy when I find in motion.
