Fellow teacher here. So many of us are feeling the same way. :( I am on year 17, and although every year for the last 4 years I have sworn it's my last, I keep coming back for just "one more year" hoping it will change for the better. It's a horrible feeling knowing that because of the stress (and physical and mental illness because of the stress) I will probably have to leave this job which, like you, I feel like I was created for. Hugs to you my teacher friend. 💜

Thank you for your 17 years! That is an amazing accomplishment! These past four years has had so many of us deciding on a different path and it’s heartbreaking to see it happening. I would hate for our students to lose another amazing teacher but you have to put yourself and your well-being first. So I want you to know that I hear you, I understand, and you are supported in whatever decision you make. And an extra hug to you my teacher friend.

Hello there, I definitely feel your pain! I had a similar situation last year. I teach 2nd grade & last year was the 1st year admin had to come in my room for behavior issues. Just keep pushing through!!! I al.kst gave up last year too; but Thank God that this year, I have an awesome class with very supportive parents!!! YOU GOT THIS❤
By the way, I just stumbled on your channel. I've been trying to find other teachers to see how to cash stuff on a monthly, teacher's salary budget.

Welcome to the channel! I love hearing from other teachers! Yeah behavior has been getting out of control over the last few years and I’m definitely one of those teachers who hate to call for support! This year I’ve had to call multiple times! I’m choosing to believe that it will get better and I honestly love my kids and I just keep trying to remember that! It’s not even the big behaviors that is the issue! It’s the small behaviors that multiple kids have that just build through the day and by the end of the day I want to be done! After winter break usually tends to be when my students get into their groove and things start to go smoother! So I’m really hoping that that’s going to happen this year too! Definitely subscribe and I can do a video walking through how I do my monthly budget for February if you would like! I struggled at first because the only people I could find had biweekly or weekly pay and it’s a lot different when your pay is monthly!

@TeachandBudget I subscribed! I gave cash stuffing a try last year & made it all the way to July before I had to empty out all my sinking funds. What I did have, did give me a sense of accomplishment. My goal for 2024 is to be more disciplined & not touch it. I'm a single, divorced mom of 4 & purchased my 1st home back in May (trying to get back on my feet after the divorce), that's where most of my funds went. I'm excited to follow your journey!!!

I feel like we have hit a point that teachers barely have time to teach anymore because they're so busy having to deal with behavior issues due to lack of support from admin/parents. You are clearly SO passionate about what you do and it is a damn SHAME that you have been driven to feel so frustrated. I know this isn't related to your budget but your conversation about your job really moved me. We are going to end up with zero good teachers left and a bunch of kids with no consequences for their actions. Hang in there. There are parents who appreciate the heck out of you, and other teachers like you. ❤

Thank you so much for saying this! So many teachers need to hear these words because you are correct. Over the years it has become more about managing behavior than actually teaching! It is heartbreaking and so tiring! Hopefully we will see a shift soon and parents and admin can start to work with us teachers so that we can all do what’s best for our students! Thank you for watching and subscribing and leaving such a heartfelt comment!
