In For The Long-Haul: IndiGo Orders 30 Airbus A350-900 Jets

- It’s official! After months of speculation, IndiGo has finally announced a widebody order and has gone for the Airbus A350. The low-cost airline is the largest carrier in India, with more than 60% of domestic market share. IndiGo has been eyeing long-haul international routes and first ventured into this side of the market by wet leasing widebody planes and entering codeshare agreements. And so, once these A350s begin to arrive, the carrier can begin operating long-haul services with its own metal.

Damn. They already have pending orders of around 1000 aircrafts and now they are stepping into long hauls. Big plans for them
Half what the 787 has
@@crazylife726that does not make sense
@@crazylife726 ?

So, the A350 has received around 100 orders so far this year. Nice.
Out of those 70 units have been placed by Indigo + Air India.
This aircraft is gonna be the most popular aircraft in the world
At the looks of it, yes.
Rn it's A320 😅
Second low-cost airline to operate the A350 after French Bee
Yes, and French Bee has the 10 abreast seating configuration.
Wait, what about Air Caraibes or corendon, who already operate A350s
@@AboutPlanes Air Caraibes is not low cost, and Corendon doesn't operate A350s
@@AboutPlanesAir Caraibes and French Bee are part of the same company, and I think they also have 10 abreast on their A350s. Not sure about Corendon.
Imagine how many seats this fit with 3-4-3 when Cebu Pacific fits 450 seats in A330neo 😂
459
A350 3-4-3 has wider seats than a 3-3-3 787
They'll probably do 10 abreast like Frenchbee
the gulf carrier are not going to like this after air india its indigo now
Nice for indigo! The airline is hopping into long haul market
Yes! Great move, Indigo, and congratulations to both parties 🥳 🎉 👏
You won't be celebrating 10 abreast which will be worse than the 10.abreast on the 777 because it's a narrower aircraft
haha I knew that would set your airbus fanboyism off

Low Cost A350-1000 works for French Bee
It does but IndiGo will take it to the next level with more A350s.
Frenchbee doesn’t have many A350s… less than 10 I think… but nonetheless demonstrated that the long-haul low cost model is possible.
Most likely Indigo will order their aircraft with the 10-abreast seating configuration.
It will be hell for the pax
No, because they could fit 440 seats with 9-abreast configuration. That's the maximum number of seats allowed for A350-900.
Maybe 11 abreast
10 abreast A350 has wider seats than a 9 abreast 787
@@odzergaming That's incorrect. The seat width on the 787 is 17.3 inches. On the 10 abreast A350 it's 16.4 inches. That aircraft is definitely NOT XWB when compared to the 777, which has 19" seats.
Brilliant news for both companies, certainly made the correct choice, great news for RR too.
👏👏👏great news for A350
Good luck to them.
Rather than compete with air India this imo will compete more with the gulf carriers.
Nice.
A350 is my favourite commercial aircraft.
They should do assembly in India.
Elbers, wasn't he CEO of KLM? Not impressed with the 787???
He used to be indeed. KLM has also ordered A350’s. Delivery is scheduled for 2026.
*Wow! Great news. I was thinking they will go for the a330neo or 787.*
They said they will buy a330neo later this year but no 787
Ok
Their Economy class in India is Low Level in comfort
2024: will arrive in 2027
2027: will arrive in 2030
2030:will arrive in 2034
And so on
Indigo is one of the Major Clients of Airbus the Airbus surely wouldn't disappoint its One of the Largest A320 Operator or One of the Potential Largest A350 Operator in Future
@@arpanabinaswar1811 true
Wishful thinking on your part. I'd agree with you if they'd purchased 777s, though. Big win for Airbus and the A350 programme!
