Brilliant stuff, Sim! I'll definitely try this. You can stretch styrene tubes like sprues. They'll still be tubes afterwards and this might save you some work. This paper (Seidenpapier ["silk paper"] in German) is difficult to come by because we always leave our shoe boxes in the shop! I might have to change my way of thinking there, hehehe! I'll most likely use that smart idea for tarps on cargo trucks and trailers. Without the cling film though, because I use tarps to cover things permanently, but for all who want them to be (re)movable that is a great idea. Thanks for sharing. Take care and be good. :) Jens
To be totally honest James I'd rather buy the skill paper, skill paper has got to workout a dam site cheaper then new shoes for the good lady lol many thanks Jens take care sim
This is one of the best ways that I have seen for doing tarps Sim, well done mate. At least with this method, you are not permanently covering your stowage and it leaves you open to change things around without causing any more damage to the stowage or the tarp. Have a great weekend mate, Joe
Great video, brother ! Your method is very similar to the way I do mine, except I don't work as hard ! LOL!!! I like the idea of the cover you put down. I'm going to start using your idea of adding the grommets and seam to the tarp. I'm going to change it a bit and use discs for the grommets. I use my rotary leather punch to make different sizes. I don't remove my tarps so I just cut to size and make my tarp. I put it where I want it and brush my thinned PVA over and form it in situ I'd add a couple of drops of water to your mix so it flows better. FYI, you can get the PVA to reactive with water. Your just replacing the water that evaporated when it dried. Grommets ! Who would have thought .........
Excellent Simmo, best tarps I have seen by far, love the eyelets and making the seam and adding the eyelets just completes the realism 👍👍👍 now go to bed its way to late for you to be up making videos 😄😄😄
I am pleased it was of some use whoever you and it's the best time of the day to make videos late at night early hours of the morning no grandchildren no children and no woman asking you to do things this is the heaven time lol and no Steve that is a bigger plus many thanks simmmon
1/35 Scale Diorama Builds HaHa, I know that for sure, all weekend every time I mixed some two part epoxy putty together she who must be obeyed would yell out "can you came a do......". I went through a kilo of the stuff and only made one bloody sandbag 😱😱😱
Another great Tutorial Sim. I was just wondering, have you ever tried to put a drop of color in the PVA for a base? I don't know that that is necessary, because your method is a really great one, and works extremely well. Thanks Sim. Regards, Solomon
Hi there Solomon I didn't really think about putting a few drops of paintings of the PVA it probably would save a bit of time later on I will have to do a little experiment next, I make one many thanks . I hope everything is okay and you get to feel a little bit better now and hopefully you can get your spray booth finished off take care sim
Thank you for your response. I like the idea of softening the "tarp" and shaping it to the subject. The eyelets are genius! Looking forward to trying it out.
As said by others brilliant, most realistic tarps I've seen. Quick question, paints were they Model Air or Model Colour? And was that UMP thinners? Many thanks!
Nice techniques - very helpful. I'll use this making a tarp cover on the back of a Ford Model T delivery truck.
Brilliant! Will have to try this! Thanks for the inspiration.
Awesome work my friend keep up the good work

Is that water based acrylic paint you used or some sort of enamel?
All I used was vallejo model color and a few drops thinner it is the thinner are actually soften the PVA again and make it pliable sim
