My standing ovation to the film maker. This is so authentic, this is how the real SG people live and behave. All the mediacorp actors should learn from the cast, act so naturally, no exaggeration.
I won’t be surprised if this was aired on MediaCorp, you will find some reason find it less praiseworthy. Because it makes you feel better to diss MediaCorp.
I'm 49 and I can tell falling in love in your 50s is just like falling in love in your teens, 20s, 30s, but you're not so obsessed with it. Rather, you'll be spending time with work, household errands, while enjoying your love. It's part of your everyday life.
Sorry dude i totally disagree. Our feelings n maturity evolves over each n different stages in our lives… Teenage puppy love is always the sweetest n will never be the same when we proceed to next stage of our lives… I think you are mistaking Infatuation n silly butterflies.
I absolutely can understand her....me myself would never marry again......she did the right decision, but I never would kissed him, because she refused him.
Well done, well cast, excellent theme, with unexpected ending. But Kee, who wants to have a relationship realizes that Pao, has the same annoying characteristics that her husband had and which led to the divorce. Besides, Pao was a slob. Wrong bread delivered, had accident with the delivery truck, and the pee on all over the toilet. Her controlling habits would not stand for her getting into the same situation again. She made the offer of friendship, but Pao did not want to just be friends. She made the right decision. RUclips suggested this to me, I had no intention of watching it, but glad I did.
Also, when he tries to get the toy for her...repeatedly trying. Her face shows the disappointment...maybe a hint of gambling...I don't know. She says "don't waste money" and he says "I can get it, just one more time, almost there..."
The ending is so touching. Pau's brave love help Kee grow. Kee learned to accept without sacrificing herself. Kee gave Paul confidence back as her gift. Kee accepted Hua, they danced together. Daughter accepted mom. So good a short movie. Deserves applause to all the artists!
@@adminadmin3649 She ‘accepted his feelings’ as in she was grateful for them and thanked him with the kiss. But she did not accept his offer to be a couple. There is more than one layer at play.
As an old geezer, I prefer these dramas with older people, and as older people as the key players (or actors). I found my true love at age 48, now 38 years ago.
This was very realistic. The unflushed toilet and pee on the toilet seat brought her back to reality. You can not be raising an adult and potty train your spouse...who has time for that? Thank you for the realistic short film.
No pretense, just natural expression seasoned with so much local SG culture.. This drama speaks so dearly to the hearts of 40s, 50s and above... when love, feeling are mixed with practical considerations complicated by one's own life experiences. Good 30 minutes!
It was an awesome production. Authentic, nostalgic, great story and casting! I was hoping both of them could be together. Apparently they liked each other but Ah Kee had a lot more concerns since her divorce. She is thinking if her children are going to accept her new relationship, whether she is able to embrace his imperfections (e.g. His toilet habits, possible 'gambling' habits). She didn't want to hurt Ah Bao and herself again. She expressed her love through the kiss but she chose not to progress further. That was a sad ending. Hopefully there is a part 2 to this story. I do want them to be together :(
@Edsel His 'toilet habits' could be real because I do have a few personal encounters with people who don't flush and leave lots of pee stain after use (even without disabilities). Ah Kee has chosen to stay mum instead of asking anything about his possible habits.
And at this age, Kee probably doesn't want to go through potty training for a grown man's toilet anymore. Plus, he's the cincai type and likely to take that attitude in most things.
Being 50 years old and in love must be tough. Or maybe she doesn't want to get divorced again because of her aggressive behavior? She couldn't accept herself to be in a relationship again because of her bad behavior?
This is so charming. Being 67 and divorced at 50, I know that some are willing to take a chance and love again, some are not. I'm closest to it now that it's just be begun. Only time knows.
The script, acting and directing is great here, it felt so slice of life! Every single actor (including all the supporting roles) did fantastic and I loved that it was filmed in Hokkien. I felt it inside when things started to take a turn downwards in this film, but what a magical journey of could-have-been.
When u are older, it is very difficult to fall in love n have romance anymore....there are so many concerns n worries n the heart is too old to flutter...so sad
Yes. Women alone especially need to be careful. There are always people watching you. In this video, her natural facial expression looks sad and depressed and she’s only pretty when she smiles. At 73, I’m blessed that my relaxed facial expression is calmer and pleasant.
This was so cool. Spot on with how she observed all the red flags (her red flags). Some of us don’t do that when we’re younger. Something has to be said about how when we are older, we no longer throw caution to the wind. Sometimes, sadly, it is better to be alone.
The characters are so real, so believable. They are everyday people like us. Ah Kee, Ah Po, even Uncle Tong is so well portrayed. The dialogue is so authentic, I believe the actors improvised the speech to bring out the context. Ah Po didnt say he was very happy that night. Nor did he say the night was kind to him. He said that night that he spent with her was the happiest in his entire 50+ years of existence. At 26:40, her voice broke. And my heart broke too. That was a stab to my heart. This is the best film I have seen in a long while. Better than those Marvel films.
This is really so unexpected! What a story! Truthful, essential!!!! What a strong female character, we need more of those! Young women need more such examples! A great cast as well! Wonderfully played!!!
I really love this - the quiet between each piece of dialogue speaks more than words could ever say, and the timing is impeccable! There is no rush and no dawdling. The pacing is musical; just a gentle, steady stream of scenes and the silence between the beats.
I'm European, so there may be some cultural differences in my perception. But I think the guy was lonely, maybe really a nice person, but waaayyyy too pushy. He was interested in her, she couldn't miss it and this was some spice in her boring, average, unassuming life. There was some aggressiveness as well when she didn't react the way he wanted her to which is a red flag. The toilet scene didn't help, either. Two lonely people don't just make a happy couple, that's not how life is. The older you get, the more quirks you have and that's perfectly okay. (I do have my own and so has my husband of 35 years. 😅 But you grow together and learn how to cope with them.) So she did the right thing. I enjoyed the video. Well done!
This is just so heart warming. Feels so authentic! Did OGS came out with short films previously? Love this. The story , cast and the dialogue is great Wonderful story telling. Really well done! Thank you for the film

This 30 min short film is well done. Its like my current situation at 40 years old with no wife and children either. Made me tear up when he said he was so unlucky throughout his life. I only had one serious relationship for 9 years and the person cheated on me. Crazy how life is.
I’m sorry that that person cheated on you. Keep looking. Take some pointers from this film though. Do some self inventory. Do you have a habit like spraying the toilet when you pee like the guy in the film (or an equivalent habit) that totally could turn a lot of people off? Work on that while you keep looking.
Feels like I'm a fly on the wall watching an authentic exchange between 2 people, both trying to reach for a connection with the other. Touched. Made me drop a tear, can't believe it.
Aiyoooo this is so cute. When cat personality and labrador personality get together. I have faith again in local media. Give them the budget they deserve rather than another instalment of watching sg ppl go to army please n thanks Edit: just finished watching WE NEED AN EPISODE TWO TT
I click and watching until finish. Even i dunno why i watch this. Lol... But when i watch this I'm laughing and my eyes watering... I hope everyone in this situation can happy too. Amen. And I pray i can find someone 2... Soon. Amen 🙏😁❤️❤️❤️ God bless You all 🙏
The acting from the entire cast is so good!! It's just so natural! They should be getting acting awards! Best Actor and Best Actress awards to the two main characters! So so much better acting than some well known actors in the local scene. BRAVO!!!🎉
million times better than the fake acting put up by mediacorps actors, this was so raw and real acting, loved it, the song at then end brought back many childhood memories from the 90s. thank you!!
I've to say... the standard of this film is great. Great acting, simple plot yet able to keep me watching it till the end with decent pacing, not too fast or draggy. 5/5 . man are those actors professionals? they're real good.
We’re glad you enjoyed it but OGS didn’t directly produce this! Love At Fifty was directed by Tan Wei Ting and made possible with a talented team of local cast and crew. The film is featured under our Short Film Showcase lineup to shine light on Singaporean filmmakers 🥳
OMG I love this movie. Sometimes so difficult to "like" but so true to life! So much turned on a dirty toilet bowl! How wonderfully the main characters acted, and how open their honesty was as they sat on the steps of the apartmebt building (what a fantastically composed shot, BTW). I so appreciated how each and every minor character in the film also had a distinct personality! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! A perfect film...
Watching from the Philippines! Thoroughly enjoyed this. it's rare to see Hookien dramas even in Singapore. I was actually cheering for Kee when she said they should remain friends then was disappointed when she went for a kiss.
@@onn88 When he used the toilet he made a mess and didn't clean it up, and didn't even flush. It shows he is careless and untidy (also immature), and she knew she really didn't want to be in a relationship with someone like that. She had already said that she can be "controlling" at home, too, so I guess this made it even worse for her. His immature side also showed when he couldn't control himself to stop playing the game to win the toy.
Yep. She saw the mess he left after using the toilet & made the wise decision not to hv a lifetime relationship with ah po. Only a fool thinks he/she can change another’s thinking, behaviour n mannerisms.
@@SongMangosteen It didn't cross his mind that teddy bears are for small children, not a grown woman in her 50's. Having his little tantrum when he didn't get his way (throwing down his crutches) was the final straw. She did give his one last chance with the kiss, but there just was no spark.
I cried and I’m not sure why. I guess I wanted them to end up together. I found true love at age 49. Was married previously but did not find real love until then. The daughter comforting her mom got to me, too. My daughter does not have empathy. Anyway great short.
First, watch it guys if it come in your recommendation! Worth every seconds! 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️ So it's came in my recommendation often, but since i'm in moving on from a letting go the past live so I try to avoid this, like hence every romance serial and movies out there! 😅 But I don't know why today I watch this and I couldn't be thankful enough. It's so few movies and serial that makes my feel thankful after watching it. This one of that drama of a complex stories but yet able to presented in a simple sweet way. This one of that drama that doesn't need to have those full ray of sunshine, flowery road, a flowing wind of dress, and a sweet moments but yet able to be a heartwarming movie. Just in 20+ mins able to captured a lot, about a wise but also a guarded woman. So kudos for the casts, my one of the best so far! The director and the writer for making the perfect, able to captured and presented layer of stories in just 20 mins. A big praise the cinematography director for completing the perfection with giving us the beauty of a simple everyday busy tough life. Subscribing!
Brief 30 minutes of impeccable production. Didn't realise that emotions can be captured with such cryptic dialogue and facial expressions until I watched the entire film. Superb dialogue and direction!
The parting gift that Kee gave Po and what she said to him was just what was needed to keep him from being discouraged. I can totally believe Po and Kee's actions, motivations and the dialogue bw them. I like that the film trusts the actors to deliver convincing performances and the audience to understand the story without too much expository dialogue. And 城里的月光 really brought back memories of Tofu Street, which also had a bittersweet and memorable ending.
The song matched the film very well. Nightfall = their phase in life. And the innermost thoughts/reflection that only come to us in the still of the night.
@@pingteo6104 it's interesting the concept that the flow of time over single day parallels the course of a person's life. morning = beginning of life, when there's lots of hope and anticipation of what the day will bring. afternoon = midlife, when the sun is beating down and it gets hot and uncomfortable and the pressure builds to get as much done as possible before the end of the day like how life gets challenging and hectic. and when nighttime/later life comes around, everything slows down. but a part of the youth still remains in the old body, so even seniors can fall in love in the autumn of life
@@unique9974 Except that the Tofu Street's theme song is sung in Mandarin. This version is sung in Cantonese, and have a slightly different meaning in the lyrics.
Rather than Love at 50, my heart fluttered at the thought of Dream at 50 Their acting is great and with the industry being so small in Singapore, opportunities for actors of their age must be even lesser Thanks to the director for this great short film and bringing out good local talents as well as local stories
Wow...didn't realize the impact this film had on me until a minute after it was done and I had this emotion welling up inside me. Had me tearing up (I don't want to admit that I wanted to burst out crying) as I started to clean up. Understated, yet powerful acting. Well done!
I was on edge waiting for her decision and hoping for her to make the best decision for herself. She made a great choice. After he threw down the crutches and she turned back the tension was intense.🚩 Very well scripted and acted😁.
Nice movie, much better than 3-hour stuff. Powerful story. Why can't seniors be in a relationship? What's wrong if two seniors find soalce in each other's company? Senior love and intimacy has its own charm of deference and dignity, with sensuousness. Well played and directed script. A great lesson and beginning for a society.
Love the authenticity of this film. Wish they really ended up together. There is still a chance in love life after 50. Great work, definitely not predictable and actors are so real. 👏👏👏
😊what a cute short story line, Kee was strong confident and very stubborn after having a bad marriage she chose to be alone because of her controlling issues which she couldn't communicate well with her mate, as for Pao he should have been strong enough and patience to work through the issues she saw wrong with him. 😊
So moved by the sincerity and honesty of the characters portrayed. So tender and close to the heart are the twists of life expressed in this condensed yet very potent story. Excellent job 👏👏🎬🎬👏👏
An excellent heartwarming, heartland grounded production. Having the protagonists speaking in local dialect instead of Mandarin make the film more endearing .... casting, acting, scripting, song, cinematography are all apt and authentic ... Keep up the great filming!

This is a great short film. Sweet without being over sentimental. Both character are likeable but not saints. The ending was realistic yet still hopeful. I'm glad I watched it. Salute!
This is an excellent short film- all actors & actresses are so good. Authentic to the core, touching and made me cry. This is so Singaporean, speaking in Hokkien made it even more authentic….i love it!
Already in the first 15secs of this entire short, it's totally relatable in actual day to day local life and dialogue than decades of that superficial nonsense on official channels
Congrats for making such an enjoyable short film! I loved it. The pacing of the film was just right without it being the typical extremely slow pacing which some pretentious indie films are known for. To able to make people connect with the characters in half an hour is no easy feat and you did it so effortlessly. Kudos to your production team as well. Sourcing for talents, locations, scripting writing, music composition, editing and the whole production coordination is no walk in the park. SPOILER ALERT! I was initially upset that the romance didn't blossom with Kee and Ah Pao. Upon reflection I now feel that the ending was perfect as is. That's how life is, right? Not everything pans out and art should imitate life.
More films like this should be made. Watching after losing my mom ever since last year 😢. She was very hardworking and beautiful like the lady in this film
Not the ending I was hoping for but this is a deeply beautiful film. The cast and script is amazing, so do the cinematography too! Love the ending scene although it's really sad :'(
I cried so much. I think Ah Kee is just too afraid to fall in love and I was hoping to see that she would take that leap of faith but unfortunately that never happened :( such is the reality of life and people..
I'm only 1/3 of the way through, but it's so good! I'm not usually one for dramas or small-scale short films like these, but I'm so glad I gave this a chance. Please keep doing more!
Everything, from the conceptualization, direction, cinematography and not to mention, the acting,is top notch. I would love to see more of such short stories please! Much, much better than the trash that a certain Singaporean director have come up with recently.

Believe in luck!!!
I met my true love at age 49. We’ve been married 9 years now. It’s never too late ❤
Give them the budget they deserve rather than another instalment of watching sg ppl go to army please n thanks
Edit: just finished watching WE NEED AN EPISODE TWO TT
Thank you, a film in Singaporean Hokkien. I've waited all my life for this.
OMG. The dialogue and actors/actresses are all so on point. Everyone deserves the right to love and be loved.
I haven’t been to a cinema in years and gave up Netflix, etc. This short was a *treasure* ❤️🙏❤️ So glad I decided to watch it! Very touching.
Watch short films, they are usually of much better quality.
Beautiful Film. The emotions are so raw and the local culture of SG is so wonderfully captured. Great Job OGS & Casts!
I'm 50 and i'm still single watching this now 😥 good short film, thank you.
The toilet seat scene is such a simple yet clever idea. Love the ending too. Can't wait to see more work from the director.
I don't get it
@@onn88 When he used the toilet he made a mess and didn't clean it up, and didn't even flush.
@@jeromehenry4484 The kiss wasn’t a last chance, it was meant as a ‘thank you but goodbye’ gift.
Almost in tears. So many feelings in 30 minutes. I like the actors, such bright characters, and so real. Awesome!
I cried and I’m not sure why. I guess I wanted them to end up together. I found true love at age 49. Was married previously but did not find real love until then. The daughter comforting her mom got to me, too. My daughter does not have empathy. Anyway great short.
How every character has been so authentic just blows me away 😮
First, watch it guys if it come in your recommendation! Worth every seconds! 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
So it's came in my recommendation often, but since i'm in moving on from a letting go the past live so I try to avoid this, like hence every romance serial and movies out there!
If this kind of quality of short films is on tv, i wouldn't mind watching tv once again in a long time
Brief 30 minutes of impeccable production. Didn't realise that emotions can be captured with such cryptic dialogue and facial expressions until I watched the entire film. Superb dialogue and direction!
OGS is probably the only legit content creator in sg. the only media company with true value !
@@pingteo6104 it's interesting the concept that the flow of time over single day parallels the course of a person's life. morning = beginning of life, when there's lots of hope and anticipation of what the day will bring. afternoon = midlife, when the sun is beating down and it gets hot and uncomfortable and the pressure builds to get as much done as possible before the end of the day like how life gets challenging and hectic. and when nighttime/later life comes around, everything slows down. but a part of the youth still remains in the old body, so even seniors can fall in love in the autumn of life
@@keepgoing335 Very well said.💛 A journey through the day (life).
Oh ya tofu Street soundtrack....I can't remember where I heard that song
@@unique9974 Except that the Tofu Street's theme song is sung in Mandarin. This version is sung in Cantonese, and have a slightly different meaning in the lyrics.
Im a Filipino. I love the shortfilm’s pathos and tragedy. The short film made me miss SG more. Great work!
This is definitely a classic short film, so much better, so natural, so authentic
Rather than Love at 50, my heart fluttered at the thought of Dream at 50
Their acting is great and with the industry being so small in Singapore, opportunities for actors of their age must be even lesser
Thanks to the director for this great short film and bringing out good local talents as well as local stories
Wow...didn't realize the impact this film had on me until a minute after it was done and I had this emotion welling up inside me. Had me tearing up (I don't want to admit that I wanted to burst out crying) as I started to clean up. Understated, yet powerful acting. Well done!
We feel for Kee cos she had to choose between her feelings and realistic obstacles 😔
I was on edge waiting for her decision and hoping for her to make the best decision for herself. She made a great choice. After he threw down the crutches and she turned back the tension was intense.🚩 Very well scripted and acted😁.
I cried too. Came from nowhere ❤
Beautiful. So authentic, both the script and acting. Please we need a Part 2.
Omg my tears just flowed uncontrollably at the ending 😭
Nice movie, much better than 3-hour stuff. Powerful story. Why can't seniors be in a relationship? What's wrong if two seniors find soalce in each other's company? Senior love and intimacy has its own charm of deference and dignity, with sensuousness. Well played and directed script. A great lesson and beginning for a society.
I was so comforted that her daughter understood her.
There’s nothing wrong with it. Why would you have to bring the question up?
seniors do get in relationships maybe not in asia but in Europe its common
@@bear44444 I agree with you. Thanks.
This is so authentic and real!! Thankful for RUclips for recommending me. I’d love to see more of such films ❤
sweetest love story. they picked the right actors
When the dude described how he wound up single is what happened to me... I have never ever heard anyone speak THAT truth. Wowzers.
Absoletly love this short film! Poignant, moving, topped up with great acting! So good I am going to watch it over and over again!
didn't want this film to end. brilliant
Great!! I am always admired Singaporean, on how they lived, they think. With this short movie, i can see many things abt Singapore.
很好看!不需要太多的对话,一切都在演员的精湛演技中述说着,委婉且缠绵,真实且写实性强的故事。饰演阿枝和阿宝的演员很棒!超喜欢!是我所看过,最能触动人心的影片之一!
So moved by the sincerity and honesty of the characters portrayed. So tender and close to the heart are the twists of life expressed in this condensed yet very potent story. Excellent job 👏👏🎬🎬👏👏
This film hit me right in the feels. Kudos to the crew and cast!
It is morning and coffee. With this love story at 50. Worth the time watching this! Fantastic acting
This is stunning. Incredible amount of emotions delivered in such a non-sentimental manner. Fantastic writing, acting, cinematography and set design.
An excellent heartwarming, heartland grounded production. Having the protagonists speaking in local dialect instead of Mandarin make the film more endearing .... casting, acting, scripting, song, cinematography are all apt and authentic ... Keep up the great filming!
ENJOYED THIS THOROUGHLY OGS! A short film abt a pair of 50 year olds finding love in the heartlands; it resonates deeply watching it even as a 30 year old. Def gon send the link to my parents ☺️ More of such ace content please!
Reality check , globally 85% that claimed falling in love in 50s mean catfished by Nigerians online and kissing goodbye to your life saving and your pension fund
If Channel 8 can churn out similar quality like this I will watch every day…
I feel like I went back in time to see how my parents fall in love. Thank you for the wonderful production !
So heart warming film! Actors and Actress are so natural in their conversation and acting. looking forward to support more of their short films. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone
What a pleasant surprise to stumble across this short film from Google algorithm, and it's free!
Omg what a lovely take on something so simple yet touched my heart. Well done to the makers of this film. I love it.
👏 👏 👏 I AM 👏 W O W !!!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 😢 Give these actors AN much deserved AWARD!!! I...CRIED!! AND IM TOUGH!!
无意间观赏到这部视频,简单且温馨的故事。
方言的对白,显得格外亲切。给制作组们一
个大大的赞👍。
What a beautiful film. I can see the soul of the characters through the screen. Outstanding.
More films like this should be made. Watching after losing my mom ever since last year 😢. She was very hardworking and beautiful like the lady in this film
The dialect sure brought back some good memories. Very well done in all levels. The Mavis song in the end was a nice touch.
I'm a simp for Tan Wei Ting!!!!!! Thank you OGS for featuring this on your platform!
Not the ending I was hoping for but this is a deeply beautiful film. The cast and script is amazing, so do the cinematography too! Love the ending scene although it's really sad :'(
Wao it touches me a lot ,both ah pao & Kee pls don’t be afraid to love ❤️. More movies like this please. 😊
I cried so much. I think Ah Kee is just too afraid to fall in love and I was hoping to see that she would take that leap of faith but unfortunately that never happened :( such is the reality of life and people..
She’s tired. It would take too much from her to learn to tolerate another person’s habits again (shown with the toilet seat)
Yes, she’s not afraid. She’s got too much experience to know that she doesn’t want to put up with what comes with the whole person.
This is a beautiful film. We look forward to seeing more of these.
I loved it! Freaking cinematic and authentic. I bet it'll be part of a uni curriculum in no time.
I'm only 1/3 of the way through, but it's so good! I'm not usually one for dramas or small-scale short films like these, but I'm so glad I gave this a chance. Please keep doing more!
I just got cursed by my crush and ended up watching this wholesome Singaporean short film. 😭
Everything, from the conceptualization, direction, cinematography and not to mention, the acting,is top notch. I would love to see more of such short stories please! Much, much better than the trash that a certain Singaporean director have come up with recently.
