Great video, I’m about 4 months into ownership of a M2 and it’s a unreal car, proper dream! But I agree with what you mentioned in this video the sensors peck, seats are comfy but nothing special, and brakes are ok! Nothing’s perfect and none of these matter to me as it doesn’t effect the way it makes me feel when i drive it! Never wanna get out!!
"I love how it goes a little bit louder for a few seconds when it starts" ..... That's a cold start .... the engine is revving a little bit higher to warm it up.
I agree with you 100%!!!! Not having park is really really annoying there are times i want to put the car in park but NOT turn the engine off and i cant!!!!
Ok Archie Couple of things about your M2 regarding your reverse sensor staying on , literally press the button by your gear lever which is lite up & will turn it off. Also in relation to the Park situation wether your in Neutral or drive if you press the Stop/Start button once to turn engine off with handbrake on then press it for 2nd time it will automatically go into Park. It is a bit strange but I’ve had 10 BMW’S and it’s like all cars they have there thing but you get used to it lol.
It is good enough on straight or on slight inclines , just people who drive different make cars always have something to say when comparing to the likes of Audi R8 which he drives.
From an M2 LCI Owner (unsure if LCI is any different with the below) 1. Put it into drive (usually turns it off for me), then Park (AKA Neutral). 2. Cant relate 3. The seats - definitely agree, however this would be a strategy. Given how great it is and how close it is to the M3 and M4, BMW would still need to find a point of difference, otherwise people would just buy the M2 instead of the M3 and M4. 4. Fake sound makes me so damn happy!! haha 5. Totally agree hahah. Confuses so many people. - 6 (the forgotten one): No front parking sensors (Boo hoo, still love it) 7. Pushing the off button twice to turn it off. When ever the family is swapping the cars around in the drive way, i 100% of the time hear the horn go off (for trying to lock it whilst electronics are still on) lol. Regardless, i absolutely love this car!!
Wife and I just watched your video - we have an M2 on order for Euro delivery in May - and you're absolutely right about the seats. The M3/M4 seats, both standard and Competition buckets, do look sexier. But you're also right about the M2 seats being comfortable. We've spent time in multiple M3 & M4 cars, both versions of their seats, and while they look amazing they aren't as comfortable. Of course a lot of it depends on body size - I'm 5'8 and 165 - and I can imagine others feeling the opposite way. But having spent time in these cars, we've concluded that if you choose your seats according to their appearance you'd go M3/M4, but if you choose seats according to how comfortable they are we found the M2 seats much more comfortable. Just our take, but comfort has to win over aesthetics - it's hard to enjoy a car if you aren't comfy, no matter how sexy the seats look from the outside.
What I think you should is 1) fit the M4 seats in the M2 (sure you can) 2) get the car completely coded (active sound will be gone and new cool features can be added) 3) get every m performance part possible, all the exterior, interior alcantara and carbon, especially the steering wheel 4) the stock wheels look sick, just get it lowered and spacered at motech 🔌 5) get rid of the front plate completely and spoke the rear and front lights
Hey Archie ... fellow M2 owner here. I hear you 100% on the reversing noise, it drives me absolutely crazy! I hate it. Also, I'm not entirely sure but I think when it's in Sport+ the sound stops coming through the speakers!? ... but as I say, I'm not entirely sure on that one yet. Finally, there is something even more annoying than the 5 things you mentioned and it probably hasn't happened to you yet ... but its worth knowing beforehand because if you're anything like me, I thought the entire diff was going to fall out or a rear wheel was going to come off. This has happened about 10 times to me and I've had the car since November 2016. All of a sudden you'll be pulling away and you'll hear a god awful screeching noice that sounds like what I imagine a tin can getting stuck up in between your wheel or brake disc sounds like... it's so loud and it sounds horrifying and it gets louder with speed. The first time it happened I took the car home at about 20 mph and called BMW the next day, they sent a guy out within 3 hours and he listened to it and chuckled! ... he said yeah, this happens on M2's and M4's ... its when a tiny stone gets stuck in the cheap aluminium protector behind the brake disc and spins around ... it sounds terrible but its only a small stone. The guy took my wheel off, took the disc off and then the protector ... as he tilted it a tiny stone feel out. That was it. It's happened loads more since but now I know what it is I just get the rear wheels spinning really fast which seems to eject it! :-) ... hope you get to read this before it happens to you. Regards ... M
Active sound can be easily disabled via a bypass cable or coding and you can simply add the parking sensor on/off switch from a basic 2 series, only a 10 min job.
It's a safety feature on most cars that the PDC doesn't turn until you press the pdc button, turn off the engine or drive forward at least a certain speed. Because even if the car is standing still or parked the obstacles aren't gone and pedastrians can still walk behind or in front of your car.
Thanks for your personal opinion. I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of my 2018 M2 that’s due in May. Does not having an oil temp gauge add to a lil peeve? Also do let us know how to disable the a “artificial engine” acoustic enhancement.
Aaron Lee Get it coded by someone like Ddcoding. 5 mins and active sound is turned off and you hear the exhaust. If only could do it for Archie's annoying voice.... 😆
1. Many people got a part from other 2 series. With a extra button to turn on/off the rear sensor, this is a shame. 2. The brake pads isn’t suitable for track use. It’s clearly written in the user manual. You need racing brake pads fitted before tracking.
DDCoding FTW. Made mine drive like a different car. Also, the LCI rear parking sensors switch off as soon as you take the car out of reverse. The interior is better on the LCI too, although the seats are still shite
Hi Archie, good points . I to have the same car but looking around at what’s about it still brings a smile to my face. I’ve had the M3 and a few others but the M2 is the only car that when I that it to get cleaned the guys all want to take a pic of it.
Not mentioning the size of the tank ?? I have the 235i and going to the gaz station every 350km/220 miles is quite time consuming! 10 to 15l more would have been nice specifically for long drives ;)
Archie, 2 comments about this video: You can silence the parking sensors by pushing the button below the mode button next to the gear selecter You have the same zf gearbox as my car and I simply push the p on top of the gear knob and this puts it in park, I never use n or the handbrake
For someone that seems to come from racing, you seem to lack an understanding of road vs race cars. All road cars, whether it be an M2, 911 GT3, or 488, the brakes are targeted for street driving. Which means they work great when cold. But unlike race bakes, they can't handle threshold breaking co near after corner, lap after lap. Change the pads in the M2 to track pads, just like you would with any other car, and the brakes are fantastic. No issue locking up r compounds. Basically the opposite of what you said.
This is ridiculous, you have a lovely car and your moaning about it! Just be grateful of what you've got I don't moan that I've got a second hand Fiat Punto which I bought for £500 Just be grateful.
Haha! I was about to comment something similar about "just be grateful because you have a lovely car which I'd love to purchase and own one day". Looking at it he was pointing out the quirks to it, which is fair like others have mentioned. Overall no doubt it's a great car, but like any car it has its own quirks. If I can kindly direct you to Joe Achilles channel, he has an M 140 and M 220, and he really goes into the practicalities of both cars, which is really refreshing and informative :)
Get the car updated to the latest software at the dealer the parking noise will stop in anything but reverse. The brakes are not bad but the brake pads are not good for track but good of the street, judge that as you will. The parking is kind of stupid, just make sure whatever you do pull the handbrake and if you're on the road don't take your foot off the brake if you're stopped. We have over a 100 VINS on the new model year 19 M2 Competition so we know it has the S55 and we know there are new seat options, brake options, and some other things. You can swap M3 seats into the M2 though if you want, people have done it no problem.
1. Rear parking sensors problem fixed for $30. Order the part with the extra button (right next to the shifter) - comes with 3 series (F30) - plug and play...coding is already there. 15 second install - with a 6MT 2. Brakes - pay the $10K for the ceramics...or don't and use the crap ones. 3. The car is cheap because of things like the non-M3 seats, no adjustable dampers, etc. 4."Fake" noise or ASD as it is properly called can be coded off in about 14 seconds. Bimmercode.com 5. Parking brake. It's that little handle next to the shifter...you pull it up. Also had you bought a proper M2 with a manual, you likely wouldn't have this issue. Just solved all your issues in 3 minutes. You're welcome. ;)
I was deciding to buy the A45 or the M2 and I decided to go for the A45 just because of the seats. No comparison, those m2 seats look like regular seats
I have an M2 to stop rolling never but the DCT into neutral either when idle or turning engine of works just fine and no rolling also the park light comes on the dash so you know all is fine..also slight delay going from 1st to reverse especially when cold and actually changing gears till warmed up is a slight delay.
I don’t “hate” anything on my ‘18 M2. Two things I dislike is the rather small gas tank and the lack of a rear seat arm rest/ cup holder (on USA models). You’re next M2 video needs to be the 5 things you “love”.
@Archie Hamilton racing. You can make a coding change that will fix the parking sensor issue I'm sure there's plenty of people around you that do BMW coding or you could do it yourself
Firstly ... well done on getting the auto instead of the manual .... secondly, I assume it has the same auto gearbox as the M4. Just want to correct the comment on putting it into park. All you do is bring the car to a halt then press the start/stop button. No idea why you'd go from drive, into neutral and then back into drive. You'd already be in drive ... because you've been driving it! You also don't have to apply the handbrake ... it will still go into Park and shouldn't roll away.
I dont normally comment much but. Point 1. True xan be annoying but there is a simple £40 work around. 2. Breaks are fine for road use, change to racing pads and fluids Will be suitable for track... Just like most cars on the road... Equally racing pads are no good on the street. Point 3. Seats. Agree m4 is nicer but I guess they got to justify the m4 cost. Point 4. Sound in cabin l, again another easy work around will change that easily, i never liked it either. Point 5. Parking.... Not sure about this one seems pretty straight forward to me. Anyway good luck with car, seems like yiur enjoying it.👍.
Archie, first of all I’m happy with my M4 seats, and like you I’ve worked my socks off to afford my car, but you are absolutely right about all the other quirks, I thought it was just me being picky lol good video!!!!
You've still got a white drip mark on top of the centre of the steering. If you look from your camera on the front passenger side. Been there for a fair few vids now.
i for some reason watch the occasional video but I am not subscribed. You should take out the racing part of your youtube name unless you actually do some racing or spirited driving....
My parking sensors on my 1 series turn off when I put it in park but they didn’t in my dads old 3 series so I don’t get it. Also, I don’t have the front sensors so I don’t have a button to turn the off.
“I HATE” in capital letters, then first words are I don’t hate and then you say it’s hard to find reasons and things to ‘Hate’. So why bother doing a Hate video !! Surely 5 things “I LIKE” would be better ??
archie re the parking sensors you sure they dont stop if you put the electronic hand brake on..my x4 quits the beep as soon as you apply the electronic handbrake....ahhh thatl b cause it has normal handbrake lmao
lmao don't worry about Tom, you're a great driver pigeon 😂. Unreal car you've got, that would bug the sh#t outta me having to drive an M2 with that beeping going on. please do 5 things you love about the M2.
1 thing i hate about my vw polo 1999, it is not an m2
kcolg321 At least you don't have to worry about depreciation lol
Tottenham Hotspur the mighty pretenders lol well done
The struggle for content is real.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💕
It’s just a repeat this channel 😂
You still have spunk on your wheel mate

AHOY MATE
Lapse Cars if that was against me......no i haven’t,got bored with the video so i didn’t get to 9 minutes
its not cum on the steering wheel, its pigeon poo
TGE has left some love mayonnaise on your steering wheel.
pezz pezz It wasn’t mayo, it was pigeon poop.
Get your Dad to buy you something else then. :)
Jealous Much...
Nathan Knight joke much...
There should be a parking assist button to turn it on and off... no? :/
Yes there is
"I love how it goes a little bit louder for a few seconds when it starts"
.....
That's a cold start .... the engine is revving a little bit higher to warm it up.

er why isn't the handbrake by itself good enough? if its parked on the flat, you shouldn't have to rely on it being in park, drive at all.
It is good enough on straight or on slight inclines , just people who drive different make cars always have something to say when comparing to the likes of Audi R8 which he drives.

Should of stuck with the RS3 or A45.
*Should have
Every car has good points and bad mate. The blacked out badges and grill look awesome 😎 When’s the exhaust being fitted?

I feel the same about my S4. I just hope that pipe above your parking spot never falks or fails!. Great car, Archie!
that park distance beep must be a fault, my 2018 LCI M2 doesn't do it. Neutral and Drive will stop the beeping. Love the car!

Yes or no do you regret getting rid of the a45 amg. You don't seem to get as excited about the m2 as you did about the a45 amg

5 things I HATE about people doing hate videos.
I hate them
I dont like them
I dont enjoy them
I puke on them
I love the car.
Detedax you comment on them
R1Z1 So?
Detedax you still take the time to watch them and comment on them; if you don't like them don't watch them
R1Z1 I didnt watch it, I commented only. Just stop whiteknighting
Archie, what do you think about the new A-Class? Going to buy it? ✌
You can get the m235/m240 switch panel that allows you to turn off the parking sensors.
Archie, first of all I’m happy with my M4 seats, and like you I’ve worked my socks off to afford my car, but you are absolutely right about all the other quirks, I thought it was just me being picky lol good video!!!!
How many years no claims bonus do you have?
Why did you not get a manual M2? 😞
Love to see original content
You've still got a white drip mark on top of the centre of the steering. If you look from your camera on the front passenger side. Been there for a fair few vids now.
i for some reason watch the occasional video but I am not subscribed. You should take out the racing part of your youtube name unless you actually do some racing or spirited driving....
Jack Naylor he was a racing driver
theres absolutely no racing content here anymore just a manchild switching cars constantly in an attempt to get views.
what model year is it
pagid brake pads mate, just at the front, they squeal a bit, but you get all the braking power you need
The competition package solves the seat issue and will be hard core for the track with new upgrade in brakes!!
But does have a OPF filter and a S55, so a lack of nice sound..
about the brakes...why not get a decent set of pads? ferodo ds3000 for ex. it will brake even when red hot
My parking sensors on my 1 series turn off when I put it in park but they didn’t in my dads old 3 series so I don’t get it. Also, I don’t have the front sensors so I don’t have a button to turn the off.
anyone know the model of that Porsche in the background?
Next video... WHY I AM SELLING MY M2!! lol ;)
You know he wont keep the car for long, the R8 will go soon, he has to forever keep changing cars or his channel will die a slow painful death.
Whats up Parker???
Oh wait wrong channel
How does a plate fall off when it's screwed in?
i love the brakes on this car, its more than enough on the road, and would probably last a lifetime.
“I HATE” in capital letters, then first words are I don’t hate and then you say it’s hard to find reasons and things to ‘Hate’. So why bother doing a Hate video !! Surely 5 things “I LIKE” would be better ??
are you going to put spacers on your wheels? that would be cool
have you tried to pull the handbrake? just a suggestion:)
Should've mentioned that white stain near driving wheel. C mon Archie clean it for f.sake
Omg sounds like Zippy! Esp 3:08. Can't unhear it lol!
odd my x% has a button to put on or take off the PDC when its beepeing
Can you sort that white mark out on your steering wheel please.
don't get me wrong but you say don't get me wrong too many times in your videos lmao
That constant beep must be an m2 thing because my 16 plate 3 series doesn't do that. As soon as you put it in park it stops lol.
If it’s hard to pick things you don’t like, what is the point in doing it.
I agree about the seats but most people don’t like the comfort of the seat
Button by the gear shifter will turn off the parking sensors 👍🏼
TGE was so savage!
Don't you have a button to turn the parking sensors off? It should kill the sound ;)
archie re the parking sensors you sure they dont stop if you put the electronic hand brake on..my x4 quits the beep as soon as you apply the electronic handbrake....ahhh thatl b cause it has normal handbrake lmao

the long road to "m2 new exhaust is here"
Drop it with a perfect ride height and get spacers job done😎
Thank You so much !!! Hi hate fake sound exhaust on speakers, I can't believe on a "car" like this with have exhaust note ...
pretty sure theres a button back near the arm rest that turns off the parking sensor beeping.
Did you know you can fit the m3/4 seats in your m2 without any mod, just plug and play!
The parking sensor not running off drives me crazy!
lmao don't worry about Tom, you're a great driver pigeon 😂. Unreal car you've got, that would bug the sh#t outta me having to drive an M2 with that beeping going on. please do 5 things you love about the M2.
That's why I would get the manual ... I know where I stand with one of them 😹
Atleast you get to hear the M2 engine when you’re parking sensors are on I have to hear a 220i engine
