    Hearing Mike talking about the Rush tribute band gig in the previous Riff and being a Rush fan myself I went along too and spent a very enjoyable evening listening to brilliant musicians with the added bonus of having a chat with Mike who is as genial and gentlemanly face to face as he is in the Riffs. Yes, he was wearing his self designed 'ting' t-shirt combining modern streaming with a 70's Rush tune.
    Thanks Mike for chatting to this fellow Rush and Riff fan. I wondered on the drive home how many Naim NAITs and Quad ESL63s would be needed to match the wattage and sound levels at the gig that evening - many more than Exposure 3510 and Yamaha NS1000s.

    Hi Mike & Dave, I am familiar with the Exposure house sound and Tony Brady(formerly founder of Onix) has done a remarkable job for the past 10 years although I believe Exposure Electronics should be more aggressive to expose the Brand to a wider market.The company was bought by a Malaysian around 2005 and fortunately, Exposure stuffs are still manufactured in the UK unlike others who shifted their production to Taiwan or China.Btw, it would be interesting if you could get hold of Magnum amplifiers those which were designed by Colin Wonfor and recently,I had a chance to listen to a vintage Magnum MF250 power amplifier and I was gobsmacked.

I do have the Buchardt S400 MKII speakers. I would like to find an amp which can drive/control them even better. (E.g. the Atoll IN300 is on my list too. I have tested the amp already. I've nothing to add on the Exposures that hasn't been said by others, but that Rover SD1 looks like a 'bitza'. Moonraker blue on gold V8-S alloys. My only SD1 relic is a set of these wheels in my attic - Rover cheekily copied the design from a Cromodora aftermarket (I think) 4-stud wheel intended for Alfa and Fiat PCDs.

    Not looking to replace my Naim 250Dr anytime soon however, but I love to know what's around and so I love it when you guys cover currently available gear as you give me a good oversight of what it will sound like.
    I'm currently using an Auralic Altair G1, lovely box which improved on my previous Atom, but I'm using that as a preamp directly into the Naim. I'd love your thoughts on the SQ improvements I might get from adding a dedicated pre-amp, though I should add I'm all in on streaming and don't need any other inputs.

      Fair point. They both sound superb IMHO, but the real question is whether the pre-power is worth the difference in cash. I would strongly recommend a listen at a decent Exposure dealer to compare the two.
      The two boxes are definitely beefier and "bigger" sound-wise than the integrated, but they both share similar tonal characteristics which is to be expected.

    Impressive company, every review is very positive. Unfortunately, I don't think they are available in USA. Is the sound similar to Marantz amps?

    • @MrVinylista
      @MrVinylista Год назад +1

      Sort of, but not quite. The Exposure sound is, I would say, a little creamier and more euphonic than the Marantz sound, which can be a little more tinselly in the upper midband - but it depends on the precise models and so I'm using broad brush strokes here. All the same, they're in the same general ballpark, along with Musical Fidelity.

    • @MrVinylista
      @MrVinylista Год назад

      A very synergistic pairing. The ATCs have a typically tonally 'dry' monitor sound, and are very demanding in terms of load driving. The Exposure's subtle warmth makes the ATCs sound less sterile, and it has no trouble at all driving them to high levels. The ATC's infinite baffle loading also helps keep the Exposure's slightly soft bass in check. All in all, they work very nicely together and the Exposure pre/power should be better still.
