1986 I walked into a store and saw an Exposure Dual 4 in the early folded metal case and laughed at the style. So I ended up buying some as it nailed the others for sound, energy and balance. Shut me up didn't it. I still have a Tri-amp system based on dual-reg 4's pushing Isobariks to this day, some small upgrades and tweaks. I am certain more modern products will improve on it but it handles everything I feed it. Watching a good movie through it is wicked. John Farlow didn't muck around. I had an issue with one a long while back, I phoned the factory and he answered, they did the fix in a week. I used to work in a HiFi shop and we sold Naim, Musical Fidelity (never got those?) Roksan and others, Exposure always had more to give no matter what the speakers you put on them.

Very enjoyable Phil . This combo seems a good finishing point for anyone on their hifi journey . Which I’m sure would be enough for most people’s needs , I would say speaker matching would be the biggest challenge . Not because of any drive issues but purely as regards getting the most out of the amplifiers , probably pearl Sibelius speakers would be a great starting point . Best wishes and kind regards as always 😀👍👍👍

Much tidier than I would have guessed. Much appreciated.

I've have always preferred the look of the black version of exposure amps. ...all amps. It's cool to see a pre/ power combination these days. It somehow seems rare .

      Even NVA's

Crazy money for what they are though but I’d rather give it to Exposure than to Naim. They remind me of the Quad 909…big torroid, relatively simple, great sounding. The competition may be 3x that but they are grossly overpriced. You want vfm? Check out the new Radford MA100 Kaizen monos. That’s value😉

Yeap heard you guys at the North West Show 2024, loved the system you had there especially amps and speakers. I do love Exposure, however these have just gone out of my acceptable price range.

I think I would like the blue LED in the black finish, to be honest . . .

Am I wrong or should there not be a balance nob? I often use that on my preamp

For amplifiers that cost over 7000$ (for pair) I would expect to see at least ~100,000MF capacitance (in each unit) in the power supply section
    and not only 20,000 :(
As an example the schitt tyr which only cost ~3000$ (for pair) which less than half
they put 160,000MF in the power supply.
I'm not saying it's the most important thing in an amplifier
But it is definitely an important thing
    In my eyes at least

Fully agree. However, 2 large capacitors are less good than e.g. 4 smaller ones. Furthermore, these power amps uses standard bridge rectifier. You loose quite a bit sound quality here. Room for diy improvements.

A big transformer has lower impedance so can replenish the capacitor charge more quickly than if a smaller transformer is used. Hence there is less need for overly large capacitance that other amps with smaller transformer might use.

those caps are huge, they are 100,000MF! the Exposure mono are the same size of a normal integrated amp, that transformer is 800VA, it's big!

I do think John and Julian from naim started off together but split due to arguments about power supplies

Few things like hifi to cause arguments lol

Is the 5010 mono class AB or class D?

    • @essendon72
      @essendon72 10 месяцев назад

They are class AB as are all Exposure amps.
