I’m glad I’m forty years into this business cuz my days feel numbered with this stuff. The “I dunno, I dunno!” At the end summed it up perfectly

IMO, the only photography that will be profitable in the near future will be those that are capturing a live story. A wedding, a sporting event for example.

I don't remember anyone complaining when dark room employees were fired when digital cameras became a thing. Time moves on, so should our skills. (You reap what you sow after all).

A lot of photo labs just shifted and became print/repro labs. Those people still had jobs. You're making a false equivalency.

This already exists with SDXL and it probably works better, however using it commercially is not protected by Adobe. This will be a game changer, I am looking forward to seeing this in the wild.

Could commercial photographers‘ contracts protect them from this? Since the model relies on feeding it images in a style, couldn’t a contract specify that images may not be used to train an AI model?

I've been thinking about this. Having a clause that prohibits the images from being used in an AI model or charge more licensing for that type of usage. But if it's as easy as snapping images on a cellphone and uploading them to the model or even using multiple angles of 3D renders of the vehicle, then I think that really puts a nail in the coffin for a lot of photographers. And that's just photography. They're also working on a "text to video" AI engine, and you will probably be able to use your brand assets in those videos, as well. THAT would put a lot of videographers and the entire crew that surrounds video out of a lot of work.

CG already replaced most car photographers. This will replace CG.

True, but is the Ai quality good enough to use in magazines and billboards etc. ? No not yet I don't think but probably soon.

It's not even in beta yet, so not likely. But could be.

you are incredibly naive if you ever thought AI was for the good of the 'common man' (at least in the short to mid term)

If they don't do it, another company will do it. Same thing Google is doing with Bard. Even if it undermines their current tech, it's clear where the future is going and there is no way they will be able to fight it. They are making the best of their situation by being at the forefront of the next wave of innovation.

as a programmer it is surreal to see creative / white collar jobs slowly anihilated WHILE truck driving (which they said 10 years ago would be for sure automated) is STILL a big demand field

There is a ceiling to how good Ai can be, which derives from the methods it uses, and it also always looks very AI like, which is on its way to being associated with all things cheap and sleazy.

I'm afraid I disagree. We're SO early days, and already the styles and realism and innovation we're seeing from the latest models is FAR above what was available just a year ago. If you leap forward 10 years.... well, I don't think we can even fathom what steady progress from these systems will look like at that point.

Do you remenber whe Digital Photography started? People were using a lot of noise in post-processing becouse it was looking too "Digital". We don't see film noise anymore. Soon or later, the AI look will be the standard and won't bother people anymore.

mmm..... i use linux anyway, and ALL of Adobe´´s code is basically C++..... Adobe has actually open-sourced some of their common low-level libraries. Ai won't replace creative jobs just as the invention of the camera didn't make paintings obsolete..... ADOBE is ALL about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$!! cheers... nice video
