You are a life saver! I need to record videos for hours and I need my EOS M50 to stay still. Obviously, every couple of hours the battery would die and I would always fail to place again the camera on my tripod in the same identical position. I was kind of giving up but I found this gem video. I immediately bought the battery with the cable. Thanks a lot!😁
I put a Small Rig cage on the m50, so I can attach to a tripod far from the battery door. I like the grip with the cage much more than without it. I use the dc coupler and have a high power Anker 26800 battery pack in my back pack with a cable from the battery pack to the camera. I use a thick elastic band to secure the plug into the battery door to avoid a disconnect. That Anker battery has 2 mini (or maybe it's micro. I mix them up) USB in ports to charge it twice as fast and 3 USB ports to plug in stuff. Very reliable products from Anker in my experience. Not that I have that much experience but enough to be worth considering.
Thanks so much for the explanation and solutions! I am poorly disappointed that the M50 cannot easily run plugged-in. I want a good camera to record still video music performance in my studio so need the camera to run directly off of my wall AC power outlet.
Thanks so much for your quick reply! I'd lean toward the Sony but the cost & lower auto focus bugs me. I follow guitarist Paul Davids who shoots awesomes vids and he uses mostly, if not exclusively Sony. Keep up the great work! I believe
great video thanks for sharing: I don't think I fully understand but just to confirm, you can't charge the m50 with a USB power bank while in use right? Meaning during a longer time lapse-I can't have it connected to a power source?
This depends on the battery bank that you decide to use. The one that I recommended, and typically battery banks do not allow charging and powering devices at the same time. I've seen this promoted once before but did not confirm.
Hello Bro , tell me one thing , will im able to use power Bank lead in Standard usb Point , without any dummy battery or anything , i want to say , can i use direct power bank with usb cable
Thanks for the life saving video... Just one question... The powerextra batteries u r using... Do they have same performance like original canon ones, like same video time and no over hearting etc...
Bro, the power extra lp e 17 batteries, for which you provided link in the description are compatible with canon M50 ? Someone from Amazon saying that canon M50 needs lp e 12 battery, hence power extra batteries are not compatible. They apperently seem over charged for M50. I'm confused. Plz reply...
My problem is even worse! Can you help? I received my camera and accessories yesterday and the battery is wayyy to big to go into the battery charger!! So basically I'm sitting here with all this new equipment I can't use because the battery can't be charged! The battery does fit the camera just not the charger??
Can you use v mount type battery, then use a d-tap then connect the dummy battery going to camera? Will the 12vols be converted when connected to the dummy battery?
I'm sorry, I'm not sure what is v mount or d-tap. The Dummy battery requires specific power and you must meet it. For example, if it is connected to 0.5A USB, it doesn't work.
@@JosephKim The thing is that someone powered the camera by using a portable cellphone charger that only lets out at 5V/2.4A. I'm very confused about how it's possible. Heres the video: ruclips.net/video/K16q2WjgI7Y/видео.html If this is the case, shouldn't it work for a larger battery that lets out the same? Yet, it seems like nobody has tried it and are keen on using portable chargers.

That DC coupler with USB was exactly what I was looking for for my studio setup! Thank you!
I'm glad to help!
It actually might be. I've noticed some limitations using non iOS devices.

Or better yet, just connect via USB and even charge the battery in body. Sony does that, Idk why not in this day and age.

Awesome info! How many batteries would you recommend someone own to guarantee all day shooting photos if no charging options are available?
Shooting photos is not bad. I usually get through one in half day. 3-4 would be sufficient I think

No. You need a dummy battery. The camera does not accept power from its USB port. You can feed the dummy battery via USB however.
@@JosephKim ok sir , thnks a lott
Hello, good review, my question is the battery that works with the cable to it, does it work without it, does it have capacity or just supplies power?
The DC battery is basically a faux battery that works as a pass-through. It does not hold charge, and camera will shut when power is cut.

No problem!
