I need a max off between the Ghost Max 2 and the Glycerin Max. Considering getting either of these as my go-to shoe as a 6'4 225 lbs runner. Though the Saucony Hurricane 24 and New Balance More V5 also have my curiousity.
I think Fresh Foam X bottoms out over longer runs. Im 6'3'' 175 pounds and after about an hour, that forefoot feels flat to me. The Glycerin Max is much, much better at this.
I am 6’1 and 210 lbs and I have the the glycerin regular edition .The glycerin regular has same foam as ghost max 2. And the foam died prematurely in the glycerin in the forefoot at 100-150 miles was not runnable . Would assume ghost max 2 would have similar issues given same version of dna loft. New foam in glycerin max probably superior but have not tried . Saucony I tried the endorphin speed 3 and its foam was good so assuming hurricane probably a good shoe also but not tried . Hurricane gets positive reviews on this channel though.
The Max runs short for UK12 should have gone half a size up, but love it a lot. The 21 is more versatile overall. Definitely room for both in my rotation, I still pick up the 21 or even 20 (yes they last that long) before the max.
I have brooks glycerin and as a bigger runner it seemed good at first but I’m dissatisfied with how fast the forefoot compressed flattened out and lost its protection. I wound say it died at 100 miles . As a 200 lbs runner I often have to replace shoes just for midsole compression reasons at 300 miles but this was much too fast. Used as walking shoe as heel is cushioned enough and upper and outsole had tons of life left. But feel like it was a disappointment .
Mine felt great in store…. 2 miles into a 6 mile run they were killing my feet. I tried it a few more times and every time I had the same result. Ended up going with Saucony ride 17 and Kinvara 14 on sale for about half off. After watching other reviews I may give Brooks another try with their Hyperion 2. 6 feet 4 inches 195 lbs.
How have you all been lacing up the Glycerin Max? I’ve tried it on release in my usual size, returned it after developing a quarter sized blister, now using a half a size up and it is still creating a significantly painful hotspot on the part of my midfoot closest to the thumb of my foot, before the arch, had this same problem with The More V5. I have never needed a wide version of a shoe, always been able to run in standard width, this has been really bothering me as I really enjoy the performance of The Glycerin Max and the comfort of the More V5 but the sidewalls destroy my feet. I’ve used tape, bodyglide, you name it. Any suggestions would be super appreciated, long time viewer of the channel!
Confused now with Brooks Ghost & Ghost Max as well. Can’t believe they can continue to manufacture and offer both max and normal versions of Ghost & Glycerin in already crowded market commercially?
Its not uncommon for companies to do this. Some customers want "tried and true", some want "latest and greatest". Although in this case, it seems to me more like leveraging an establish model brand to help a new shoe, since the Max shoes are so much different.
Don'tbuy the brooks Glycerin Max. I walked for about 1hr 50 minutes n the bottom of both my feet started hurting after 1 hour. I tried it again another day n something wasn't right with this shoe. The foam is too soft n is not suitable for long walks. I don't have this problem with my Hoka Bondi 8 n Skyward X.
Out of curiosity, why are you walking in high stack running shoes instead of actual walking shoes? It seems a bit unfair to judge a running shoe on anything other than running. I am genuinely interested and not trying to be antagonistic.

Are firmer shoes not better for heavier runners?

21 makes also for a great walking shoe.
The Max , I don't think so, limited to running only

Pls use a thin in-sole or an additional layer of socks. I think that will do
1 color and 1 width, no thanks I'll stick with my all black 2E Glycerin 21's, luv em
Super 🏐👍💪

Why? They sell bucket loads of them all.

They’re running shoes so I’m not surprised
Huh 🙀
