As long as it’s not JJ Abrams. He destroyed Star Trek and Star Wars, we don’t need him ruining Star Gate.

Les Moonves and Alex Kurzman destroyed it. J.J. Abram's made some movies which were "Okay" even if there are plenty of complaints those movies were MILLIONS of times better than Star Trek Discovery! Heck, I'm not even sure I'd say those movies were the worst Star Trek movies up to that point, they are at fault for recasting TOS characters, destroying Vulcan, not holding up Cannon but they still largely had the spirit of Star Trek -sort of-, or something close to it at least the Movie version of Star Trek which has never been where Star Trek was at it's best. J.J.Abrams created an alternate reality and IP sure, that I will agree with and that could be in a way blamed with the screwed up universe of STD and Picard etc... But over-all the blames belongs with Kurtzman, Moonves and whoever screwed up the IP rights.
I heard that Alex Kurtzman is looking for work he would be perfekt then he can get a trifecta of destroying 3 shows with star included in it :(

Rian Johnson ruined Star Wars, not so much JJ Abrams. JJ was never going to make awesome Star Wars, but Force Awakens was fun enough and Rise of Skywalker feels like his attempt to do his own second and third films squished into the space of one film, while undoing all the mess that Rian Johnson left, so no wonder it was a mess.
And the JJ-verse Trek films are serviceable enough - they didn't destroy the franchise.
But I would still prefer him to be kept away from Stargate though.
I am not too keen on the 10-episode season system, I want the glory days with 20-episode seasons back!
20 episodes plus and I also 100% want real intros back for all shows. I hate these 2-5 seconds intros :(
@@gandir5720 The Thing is I think it is hard to make Stargate with so few episodes and keep the feeling, in all Stargate shows, a big part is to show different worlds with friendlies and hostiles and hostile environments and some with ancient mysteries and perhaps tech to write the plot around. You can simply not bake the Stargate cake into 10 episodes only.
And then they need to establish the new show, is it Mount Cyenne, another base, or a ship? And on top of it new characters to build up. If they go 10 episodes only they will fail :(
@@benktlofgren4710 Well you can bake it in to 10 episodes it's not impossible, but 20+ would be prefeereble but ofcourse it can still feel like StarGate. The feelings are not in the numbers rather how it's done.
10 episodes 1h30min for example is more than 20 episodes so the possibilites are endless I would say with streaming. The problem I guess is budget and commitment.

I believe fans want the big brains of Stargate like Brad Wright and Robert C Cooper involved - also at least 15 episodes or more per season.

Also I think people need to brace themselves because anything new is going to be more like SGU than SG1. Personally I liked SGU but to each their own.
20 episodes is required to expand multiple story arcs. They absolutely can do it today. If they don’t it will be a waste of time i will not wait 2.5 years to get one season of content.
the only thing i wanted to know is why they omitted brad. they want to revive something that was super liked and it was so thanks to brad and joe mostly. so why do they not want the key ingredients of the recipe, i dont understand

Some drama between them and MGM, no idea what and don't care.
Actually I would like to know what is going on with both gareworld and Dial thee gate. They talked with so many of the actors and kept things going. Time into the show is their fan investment and it should have earned something in the eyes of whoever is being interviewed.
Maybe because they don't want to report rumors from anonymous sources?

The no Brad thing makes me skeptical of how good it will be, but will remain hopeful.
As I understand it, Bred Wright is not excluded, but the decision is left to the partner or is part of the negotiations with the partner. That makes it very unlikely that it will be a show with Brad, but at least it's still possible.
I would LOVE it if they just started it and it's like 20 years later, and Carter is the head of Stargate Command!! Of course some of the old actors could make cameos as they are in leadership positions in their respective roles but I would be totally here for meeting new SG teams :)
Yeah, I'd also love that. Carter needs to be involved in prominent significant enough role (and of course Amanda playing her).
I have a lot of doubts about an SG1 revival because what made SG1 so good was the chemistry of the original cast. They worked great together. Richard and Amanda’s attraction was so so obvious after the first few episodes. Recreating all that will be extremely difficult.
Agreed. The wife and I were just talking about this. One of the things that made SG1 so great was their chemistry. It's going to be really hard to replicate that (sorry 😬). We think they're going to need new unseen actors for this. So that we're not judging them on their previous work.
@@dork2525 When SG-1 first came on I had never heard of any of the cast except Richard Dean Anderson and Don Davis. The rest were total unknowns to me. Canada sure breeds good actors.!

I nontraditional story line would be some kid who enlists in the Air Force (or Space Force), and followed through training, assignments, maybe getting more and more assignments revealing the more secrets of the program.

I don't see how they could ignore it. SG1 is Stargate command.

I own some props from the original series trust me we don’t want 4k the sets and props didn’t have the details like SGU or Atlantis
@@jasonshackelford9074 Not necessarily 4K, but it would be nice to get a properly done HD restoration like "Star Trek" and "Star Trek: TNG," because the current Blu-Rays aren't ideal.

They need to stop the delays. Just get the gang back together, meaning Brad, directors, and actors alike, and let's start making magic again.
The actors are all 17 years older than when the original series ended. RDA is 74. Amanda Tapping is pushing 60 - and yes, she looks great at that age, but she's just not Sam Carter anymore.
RUclips videos don't make or break a new show. Quality writing and quality characters make or break a new show. A positive youtube video from a relevant trusted person about an unrecongized quality show can save it.
Fans would be happy to see familiar faces again. It doesn't have to be Ronon or Teal'c for fans - they're probably pretty expensive. We're more excited about Doctors McKay and Jackson. Even Siler and other guest stars create a good connection to the old episodes.
You could get Carter and Jackson, maybe tealc and the Sargent on the controls, but the rest are out of the picture.
What about John Shepard? He was such a great lead character.

@@erpelhomo4686 I think he embraced the character, so he probably would be up for it. I have seen some interviews with him and he talks fondly about playing John Sheppard. If they were to try and get Jason Momoa he would have to just want to do it regardless of pay, obviously his pay rate would break the budget, but you never know he might do a small role. I loved pretty much all the SG1 and SGA characters so anyone would be good for me.

Would live to see them get back to the old format.... Each episode is a stand alone adventure but part of a larger story arc. Also, please, for the love of god DO NOT pick a subject matter and beat it to death. Like time travel. That will ruin it for sure.

But Stargate was not the first to run same franchise`s shows at the same time. That would be Star Trek (TNG and DS9 run together and DS9 and Voyager). Also TNG ended in 1994 (when DS9 had it` second season) and Voyager started 1995, so they planned / ran three shows pretty much at the same time.
I am a massive stargate fan (i have watched every episode of sg-1, atlantis and universe at least 3x, some favourite probably close to 10x) but stopped keeping track somewhere around 2021 whether or not there is gonna be a new fullblown stargate series/movie, but i have always prayed for one. From what you are saying, there is definitelly gonna be a full blown SG revival that will start being filmed very soon, and released probably next year or perhaps early 2026? OMG i cant contain my excitement, SG is really coming back, and i hope they bring back as many old characters as possible (especially Sam, Jack, Daniel, Tielc, and especially Rodney and John from atlantis, if i see all those guys next year in a new starwars show i am gonna sh*t my bloody pants from excitement!!!

a think a series, or novel or movie or something that explained a lot of the loose ends would be awesome. unless it's planned to be in this series. i wasn't a super big fan of SGU right off the batt, but as the show progressed i enjoyed it more and more, and I'd really like to know what happened following those events. great info and video, look forward to more :D

#Amazon release physical media. When we loss electicty due to hurricane most internet is run thru cable tv which is on same poles, so for 2 weeks or however long running on generator power we need entertainment. Thats why physical media is so important.

I'm a little behind the video, I love your Stargate content. Technically, though the Bridge Studios are not in Vancouver. Their main studio is on the east side of Boundary Road, which places it in Burnaby. The west side of Boundary Road is Vancouver. ;) I used to live in the Greater Vancouver area and have driven past it many times. I understand that it is easier to say Vancouver though. Many more people would have some idea where Vancouver is than where Burnaby is, and there are about a dozen cities in that area that you can drive to without actually leaving city.

If you think about, Stargate already had a phase set up by having Atlantis crossover and reference SG1 from time to time.
I would love a carry on from all three different shows that ended on cliffhangers

Before all the new Stargate comes out, they need to put out a sarcophagus shaped case with all the seasons of all the shows plus the two SG1 movies. That would be sick IMO.
The big question I want to know is will they be pushing the wokeism that many executives and companies have been pushing onto shows being made these days?
The fans want a real continuation of the SG universe, not some changes to add in all the BS that is being pushed in shows

I would like to know if there are currently plans to at least explain what happened to SGU. This one thing being confirmed I think could be huge in gaining hype I know the show wasn't for everyone but most of us love it or hate it saw it and want to know what happened.
Stargate DVD's are all I watched for about 2 years, and still do though not every day
While I wish there would be more than just 10 episodes in a season, I am VERY happy it will be an SG1 revival, and not a reboot.
I'm worried that we'll have a rerun of what happened to SGU, i.e., so many "fans" will moan and complain about what they don't like or expect they won't like that there are nails in the coffin before it even starts. Any stargate is good.
I have, as many of us, seen just about every episode of stargate SG1, Atlantis, Universe, and we pick what we like best. I am very attracted to bingeable and series full of major story arcs, and smaller arcs within, that eventually resurface at a later time, which introduces its relevance (giving me that AHA moment) ex; the Expanse. Star Trek Discovery etc. (I know people would disagree, but aren't opinions respected by all?) Last night I felt like watching some stargate, and yes, I have the box sets (the aspect ratio of the SG1 on amazon in 2024, is unwatchable), Atlantis and Universe are better in that way. When I go back to watch some Atlantis or SG1 I gravitate to the ones with multiple episodes. "children of the gods", ""new world order" "lost city" arcs, "atlantis rising" "the Siege" The arc involving the human replicators in Atlantis to their demise, imploding their planet, but mostly when they are consequtve episodes all part of the same story arc. So, when amazon was deliberating on 'making a new stargate movie', they are already inside the series.. "The Siege was part 1, 2, 3" totals 2 hours.. that's movie length.. to get the real feel of it as a movie, is to watch them in succession.. I do believe that story arcs like the expanse, is fantastic IMHO. I would like to see this 'revival' do the same thing. we know the viewership of series' like this. IT's a great model.. I know I'll be there to absorb it all.. So, I think, even tho amazon has been going up and down over this, I predict they will do this in the new series.. movie isn't necessary, but not impossible, but it should be a 'further' extension of the story line, not unlike "the siege" or like the epic involving the demise of Anubis, antarctcia, the asgaard.. all that is fantastic entertainment. Note: SG1 and Atlantis had a lot of episodes that could in reality stand on their own, similar to how the Star trek original, each episode mostly stood on their own. The new "strange new worlds" is folloing that similar pattern, but there is a need, even there, to have an underlying story arc, maybe more than one. We are a smarter population now, and we need depth in story line to draw us all in.. We are not my parents generation, where ideas were always foreign and restistance developed.. We aren't like that now, we like intense story telling.. Those stories are more talked about, than middle-of-the-road stories.. Sorry for missplellings, but you're smart enough to get the idea.. :) thanks

The kinda off-topic facts you reveal are most interesting. Just as brick and mortar business, servers, computer applications, jobs, communication, life are turned into online... cinema/TV is also becoming internet giants' monopoly.
Sounds like the question of Brad is simply being asked to the wrong person. Whoever partner MGM is working with should be pressured in hiring/involving Brad Wrigh, even if only as a creative consultant.
What makes a memorable movie or show or video is - and has always been - the STORY! The best example of a 5-year arc is Babylon.
So, I have three questions for .
1. Is there an individual or group of individuals that have fully embraced this Stargate resurgence?
2. On the ladder of priorities, how much emphasis has been put into (a) creating a dynamic and absorbing storyline for this arc [on the level of JMS but not JMS], (b) choosing THE initial team of writers that are talented, creative, and lucid in the universe and language of Stargate, and (c) selecting a mixture of seasoned and/or talented actors to fill the main and supporting characters for this arc?
3. In this climate of DEI, there is certainly a lot of room to be diverse, but will it dominate the whole production?

Writing is key. Any production that hires great actors/actresses and skimps on writers sucks. The Expanse is an excellent example of relatively unknown actors with great writing making a hit. Dont talk down to your audience. Trust we'll get it. I would love Ty Franck and/or Daniel Abrahamson being involved since they are awesome at world building but I don't see that happening.

I have every series on DVD, I'd be the first to line up for a new series. But not including Brad is complete BS. They're gonna do a star trek and put some people in charge who don't care about the source material
They need to include Brad, we need to make it clear. It might not NEED to be the creator spot but they should give him some influence to keep it feeling like it has continuity. I'd rather something have the spirit of Stargate SG-1 than merely the Cannon. Look at it like The Orville .vs Star Trek Discovery. STD was closer to Cannon, but The Orville had the spirit of Star Trek much more-so, it was the closest spiritual successor at least up until SNW, and honestly The Orville might still win there also.
Never forget fans is another way of saying customers. It's not what the studio or the partner or the studio wants, it's what the fans want. This is business 101. Something MGM forgot when it made Bond and went woke and ended up losing their shirt and selling their souls to Amazon.
I know im concerned, i have very little faith in the current entertainment industry. It's alsmost like, they gotta hold off until this rough patch is over.

Totally agree. Esg scores = incompetence. The only way esg scores would make sense in Stargate is if an unknown new goa’uld has infiltrated earth and esg score are their means of controlling everyone. The most evil goa.’uld that ever existed

Really hope they learned from Rings of Power. Not holding my breath though. I'm content with the shows we already have, but i'd really like to see them break the video game curse and release something decent! Stargate is begging for a sandbox like adventure!
Will it be dropping a whole season at a time? Or will it be episode by episode? Because if the later I think from Amazon's/MGM's POV if you have fans needing to be subscribed to your streaming service for 10 weeks a year that isn't so great, but if you can make 15 episodes a year and maybe you have a spinoff series that is 30 episodes spread throughout the year potentially with some small breaks making a fan need to be subscribed for pretty much the whole year to watch Stargate episodes as they come out! But if it's just a 10 episode order then 3 months and then leave till the next season drops hopefully next year. Quite a difference. If you drop the whole season at once then that's 1 month. Now if you can drop a show that I LOVE as much as Stargate every month then that's great but the odds of that are low, just make enough episodes to keep us subscribed perpetually. I have rewatched SG-1 and SGA so many times, more that Star Trek and B5.
If they can get original cast members, this would be huge.

The trailers on youtube has become a problem as i sees it. If there is any hint that this or that movie has been talked about or maybe coming. Then there is some fans or people that make fan trailers or concept trailer. Posted so that the tittles makes you belive it is a real one. but the text when you have started it says it all. some maybe then hide it. Only trailers is hose you know are from the studios. I was using RUclips as a source. But after this i check other places for it that i know i see the real thing.

I wonder, is each season going to be 10 episodes? Or just to start out? Seems kinda dumb to me if they make each season 10 to 12 episodes, in my opinion it makes it difficult to stay interested in a new show having to wait 9 to 10 months for the new season, let alone longer..
Heck theres shows that i enjoyed watching and know the next season is out, but i cant remember the names of them nor characters since they had short seasons and a long wait time till the next season..
P.S. i know I wont forget, nor other stargate fans wont forget to stay updated on the next seasons, but the ones im worried about is the new fan base..
So essentailly im worried stargate might not grow as fast as we would like due to people forgetting or getting bored of the wait time for the next season..

SG1 is the only Stargate Series most people care about. Having a revival would be the best thing ever.
I would say SGU is a strong contender for that spot. That is always a question that is brought up when Stargate is talked about coming back.

@@sammidde7300 I loved SG1, liked SGA but hated SGU. SGU just threw the whole feel of the show away trying to be "dark" and brooding. I am no fan of the real-world US military but throughout SG1 and SGA the military was always admirable and honorable whereas in SGU they were despicable. I prefer the utopian view myself but I would also rather watch the original series of Star Trek or Next Generation than Discovery too. But I loved the reboot of Battlestar Galactica (except for the stupid last season). Dunno if that is just me or the public in general, but optimism is always the best way to go.

At the beginning of filming the one who now holds the rights and those puting up the money are going to have the say. It is the golden rule.

@@jpasan You so should! I just upgraded to a 4K UHD tv myself. Bought it a month after my box set. Has Roku built in, which I didn't even realize when I bought it but it was only $349.00 for a 43 in.
Didn't hear of the brand before but it was trending #2 in electronics & had a 5.6 star rating & #3 in TV's. Worth every penny. 💯

The Problem comes about with all the casting issues with a show like this and bringing in the same themes.
Given the recent disasters with attempts to continue sci fi and fantasy franchises, I pray that they don't do the same thing to Stargate. They need to retain the depth and feel of the show.
Imagining what releasing 3D models would do for cosplayers and nerdy fans that want those trinkets. It could be super hyping!
Hopefully the production partner isn't Secret Hideout, Bad Robot, or Greg Berlanti. I'm sure there are other production entities that I can't think of that would be bad juju for "Stargate." Bad juju, stay away.

I Pray for a Stargate Revival and No Reboot.. A revival of SG1 or Atlantis and NOT UNIVERSE.. I understand the need to maybe, have one episode explaining what happened to the Universe characters or interject short storylines explaining what happened. Or maybe having Eli be the only survivor and they rescue him. But don't focus on Universe. It sucks..
I do also Pray they bring back the main actors like, Sam, Shepherd, Jackson, McKay, Dr Beckett, Teal'c and Jack O'Neill with two L's..

Are these guys going to be cognisant of Stargate’s tone? So many TV and movie franchises completely forget exactly what made the original shows/films popular and then the show runners wonder why they fail. Stargate has to have strong characters that fans can identify with and it also has to have a sense of humour. I always felt the Stargate TV series was the spiritual successor to the original Star Trek because while it was a serious drama, it didn’t take itself too seriously. There was a certain lightness of touch which could be difficult to recreate, especially if the show-runners are more interested in creating a saleable product than they are in creating good scripts.

A new Stargate series on DVD? Come on, DVDs don't have the quality necessary for current TV shows. It needs to be on Blu-ray at least. If the shows are in 4K, HDR and Dolby Atmos, they should come out on Ultra HD Bluray.

The 2016 Ghostbusters failed because it was creatively bankrupt. "Let's take a movie and replace all the male characters with female characters" is the dumbest way to approach a movie. I watched it and the movie failed to make me laugh even once. It was DUMB, not funny. It was DEI over story/characters/comedy. Which is what scares me about Stargate. Sci-fi has always been progressive, it doesn't need forced DEI. The worst moments of season 1 were the writers trying too hard to push feminism, which resulted in the cringiest line in all of Stargate in episode 1, and a whole episode that was pretty much terrible. Amazon has pooped all over some franchises recently and I have no confidence they're not going to do it here too.
I don’t agree. It failed because I was a bad movie. I’d agree the writers became way too interested in making a point but at its core it’s just not very good regardless of the sex of the cast.
@@scitrekRight, hence, creatively bankrupt. The lightbulb went off "Oh, Ghostbusters, but we genderbend the cast" and that was it. That was the idea. But just taking a movie and making the cast the opposite sex doesn't make for a good movie. Unfortunately, that WAS the only real idea, and they kind of fumbled through the rest and it was terrible.
As opposed to a movie like Ocean's 8, where they genderbent the cast but the movie actually had a good plot and - I thought - it was pretty good. Not as good as Ocean's 11, but still enjoyable.
