The Allman Brothers were just great all the way around. You've already reacted to a couple of their big hits, but you've got to hear Statesboro Blues, Blue Sky, and Jessica.
I can’t get over it..a moment of perfection captured on film. We are so fortunate to have this piece of genius preserved like a Mona Lisa or Sistine Chapel of Southern Rock. God bless all these gentlemen, whether alive or passed away.
J, Many people consider this one of the best live albums ever recorded'Live at the Fillmore East'. Their "Blue Sky" "Statesboro Blues" and "Jessica" are next for you!
Saw Allman Bros Band (Gregg and Dickie Betts) 1988-ish. The band came out without Gregg. Several awkward minutes later Gregg stumbled onstage, clearly feeling no pain. Cigarette in hand, he sat down at the piano. It was dark, but I could see his cigarette swinging wildly while he tried to find the ashtray. I looked at my husband and said "Oh no." Finally he ground the cigarette out on the top of the Steinway, started to sing, and sounded like an angel. Thanks Gregg.
This band is everything! Dueling guitars, one of the best blues singers of all time and two drummers. Also they are from the Deep South and had a black man in the band in 1971! Revolutionary! ✌️🍄🍑❤️
Great band, Great song, Great live, too. It is so hard to believe that these guys were so young when they made this song. The absolute best Southern Blues Rock band ever.
This is Southern Rock at its very finest. These guys are true legends. I got to see the band live many years later in 1990, long after Duane had died, but Gregg and Dickey were still in the group. RIP Duane and Gregg...you guys are greatly missed. You should check out Midnight Rider. A Southern anthem!!
Kathy here, I met Greg when I was 14 years old. He is singing lead, while brother Duane is the blonde guitar player, and then Dickie Betts is the dark-haired guitar player. I'm from Georgia - all of Georgia wept when Duane died in a motorcycle accident. We lost Greg a few years back. One of the greatest Southern Rock Bands ever in my opinion. I am 68 years old and love seeing the younger generation hear the music your parents and grandparents grew up on. No auto tune, just great singing and playing.
They really paid attention to how "tight" their sound was, and as a non musician , I don't know HOW these guys blend all there sound together , do the solos, etc. Just astounding and these guys were YOUNG, in their 20's! Hearing a band do that and groove, we used to say the were "cookin' " and the ABB coined the phrase "hittin the note" . Thanks J, glad we like the same band ! lol
My favorite Allman Brothers song and best live performance. Although this one is cut together, kind of the way Whole Lotta Love is. Dickie Betts on Guitar, Duane Allman on slide, Gregg Allman singing. What a fox.
Yes..I believe Rolling Stone had him in the top 50 guitarist of all time! Number 2. Jimi Hendrix number 1. I'll have to research it but I'm 99% sure. ✌❤🎶😁
Live Allman Bro’s shows we’re legendary, throughout the 40+ years they toured. Check out live tracks from their annual Beacon Theater residency during the 90s-2010s. Their modern era guitarists, Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks, plus Jimmy Herring and Jack Pearson for time periods, are among the best living guitarists. There’s some great video of them with Eric Clapton at the Beacon. Instrumental tracks “Jessica” and “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” are highly recommended.
Also important to emphasize is you get to experience two legendary bass players in the modern era as well. Allen Woody from 89-97 ( when he and Warren Haynes left and made Govt Mule their primary focus) and Otiel Burbridge until the final live shows a few years back. Plus the post 1989 lineup adds Marc Quiñones on percussion.
I like the Allman brothers! First time listening to this song. So much blues with a little bit of country sound. Allman vocal was amazing! Check out his song “Ramblin Man!”
I had a friend who lived down the street from the Allmon Brothers and she would go over to their house and just sit and listen while they did their practices.
"There's a Man down there, Might be YOUR Man I don't know" 🕶️ Greg had the MOST AMAZING voice🎙️💯 So EFFORTLESS and the Southern Rock just rolls off his tongue 👅🎙️
Love you enthusiasm, they guys were great! Miss them but thankful we had them and we are lucky we have this music to remember just how great they were.❤
Dickie Betts somehow survived the Allman Bros. and the 60s and is living down here in my neck of the woods in SW Florida. I think he still performs sometimes with his son.
At their peak with Duane Allman. The record of this is said to be one of the greatest live albums of all time. Unfortunately, they didn't all survive together for too much longer.
I saw them live a couple of times around this time when Duane Allman was still alive & they were so incredibly good. Both Dicky Betts & Duane superb guitar players and Greg Allman singing just perfect! Unfortunately Duane was killed in a motorcycle accident in October of 1971 but that band carried on & continued to put out stellar material...phenomenon live band. Their Live At The Fillmore East LP is one of the best live rock LP's of all-time for sure!
Lucky guy ! I got into them in 72’ as a young stoner kid. Had my Dad give me a ride to a show when I was 15. Poor guy, seeing his son spill out there with all those scruffy, dazed hippies when he was a WW2 vet/ Republican !
This happened because Duane wanted Berry Oakley on bass. Berry was in Dickey's band, The Second Coming. When Duane said he was going to steal Berry, people told him it was impossible because he and Dickey were inseparable. Duane replied, "Then I'll steal Dickey, too". The rest is history.
A friend of a friend put together a cassette tape of random music, probably in the late seventies? This song always got turned up the loudest when we partied. Thanks for playing it!
JAMAL! Hey baby! So good to see you here- just watched some of your great Stevle Winwood reactions. Love you, man. Have a wonderful day, & thanks for supporting another one of my fave reactors! Gotta hear this one more time now, lol.
I agree. He’s my favorite guitar player. He accomplished so much in such a short time - from session guitarist working with big name R&B artists to forming the Allman Brothers.
The slide guitar was really on point because Greg borrowed that song from the Blues great Elmore James (the king of the Dobro slide guitar). Southern Fried Rock was heavily influenced by Delta and Electric Blues.
Love the Allman bro. My 2nd wife birthday is next week and last year she was killed in a car wreck her name is Melissa.. I use to sang her sweet Melissa all the time. she was a very good friend. . Play it in her name. Peace
You cannot possibly go wrong with picking any song by them...been to their outdoor concert three times at same venue: Waterloo Village..all great and consistent and boy they kept playing and playing..never let up!
I remember when Duane and Barry died.. So many died so young back then. Duane made his own slides from a glass soda bottle.. damn back in the day, I wish everyone could've experienced it for just on day and night..
Greg Allman, the singer and organist, and Duane Allman lead, slide guitar are brothers. Duane died shortly after in a motorcycle crash. Check out Gregg Allman, Queen of Hearts Album. All songs on that Album are great! I had the pleasure of seeing them in concert after Duane passed in 1974.
When I saw them live, this was their encore song. Blues Traveler was the opener, and John Popper came out with them the ABB to close the show. Goood times
How can we know that the Allman Brother's Band was the greatest 'Southern' Rock band ever? Because, Lynard Skynard, Molly Hatchet, Marshall Tucker and many other all wrote tribute songs to or about them! Live at the Fillmore is the best live album ever!
Some of your earlier reactions of ABB were without Duane. Duane set an entirely different mood in the band and, while Dicky Betts is no slouch, he's also no Duane Allman. Duane was killed by a peach truck during the recording of their third studio album and so it was titled "Eat a Peach". Duane ranks up there with the best of all time. He played on Derek and the Dominoes version of Layla; he played the high slide especially standing out at the end.
Duane was NOT killed by a peach truck. The album was titled "Eat A Peach" after a saying that Duane said, part of it is "Everytime I'm in Georgia, I eat a peach for peace".
Ending it here tonight thank you guys for tuning in
Cool. Good song. Crazy classic
Next time you will have hit your 100K!
Rose Marie Fiola oh wow he is right there. Man they throwing the decimal in you so close
The Allman Brothers were just great all the way around. You've already reacted to a couple of their big hits, but you've got to hear Statesboro Blues, Blue Sky, and Jessica.
Thanks Jovaughn. And what an absolute night! Musically very impressive.
Yeah -- This is one of the greatest albums made from a live concert, EVER. I could watch it over and over and over ....
100k Brotha🙌🏾🏆 Keep Grinding, Stay Humble, And Spreading Love ✌🏾🧔🏾✌🏾
Thank you man I really appreciate your support
Listen to the Song Whipping Post by Allman Bros
Love me some Jamel, too !!!
Get back JJ!😆..Love your channel too dude✌💛🤘
Jamel, you are the main man. Encouraging all the younger brothers. You have a big heart.
God less you.
I can’t get over it..a moment of perfection captured on film. We are so fortunate to have this piece of genius preserved like a Mona Lisa or Sistine Chapel of Southern Rock. God bless all these gentlemen, whether alive or passed away.
That ending of the song where he slows it down is my absolute favorite part. That voice is amazing.
My favorite part is right before that, with that guitar screaming, like the lashes of the whip. I can almost feel the sting!
J, Many people consider this one of the best live albums ever recorded'Live at the Fillmore East'. Their "Blue Sky" "Statesboro Blues" and "Jessica" are next for you!
Duane Allman and Dickey Betts on guitar, Gregg Allman on vocals and keyboard. Legendary talent from one of the premier southern rock bands. ❤️
I looked at my husband and said "Oh no." SO much fun seeing you young kids like our music from 40 years ago. Rock on!
What a way to end the night....some southern rock with the best Allman brothers 💗
Duane Allman and Dickie Betts on guitar.
And this is why when I found them in 1969 they've been my number1 band still and I'm now 69..they were the best damn band in the land!!👍✌
This band is everything!
Dueling guitars, one of the best blues singers of all time and two drummers. Also they are from the Deep South and had a black man in the band in 1971! Revolutionary! ✌️🍄🍑❤️
It wasn’t unusual at all for blacks and whites to play together back then.
RIP Duane legends never die brother!
Over 50 years old and still timeless....
*Midnight Rider*
*Rambling Man*
Both amazing songs
And the two drummers. Precision.
4:35 - 5:05 Duane Allman's slide guitar work is other-worldly.
Great band, Great song, Great live, too. It is so hard to believe that these guys were so young when they made this song. The absolute best Southern Blues Rock band ever.

A classic concert! Statesboro Blues' a must!!!
Many classic hits to choose from in their catalog. Midnight Rider being my favorite!
Duane, and dickie playing side by side. Don't get much better than that.
Thanks J, glad we like the same band ! lol
That has to be one of the finest songs ever recorded! Everything about it - vocals, guitars, you name it!
Try Allman Brothers - Midnight Rider or.. Melissa
My two favorites by the Allman Brothers
Yes, those are awesome too!
My favorite Allman Brothers song and best live performance. Although this one is cut together, kind of the way Whole Lotta Love is. Dickie Betts on Guitar, Duane Allman on slide, Gregg Allman singing. What a fox.
A legendary performance from the greatest Live album of all time.
This was the tune that got me into the Allman Brothers, and the gateway to southern Rock!
I knew someone in the industry at the time. He said many folks thought Duane Allman was the best guitarist of the era.
Yes..I believe Rolling Stone had him in the top 50 guitarist of all time! Number 2. Jimi Hendrix number 1. I'll have to research it but I'm 99% sure.
✌❤🎶😁
Thank you...my favorite Allman Brothers song🖤

This is my all time favorite guitar song! Awesome to see you reacting to it.
I love your reaction to one of the best tunes from one of the very best bands of all time. Thank you.
RIP Duane and Gregg Allman thank you both for the iconic gifts of southern rock ☮️
I like the Allman brothers! First time listening to this song. So much blues with a little bit of country sound. Allman vocal was amazing! Check out his song “Ramblin Man!”
Thank you for reacting to this man, it made my day.
Raw Talent and Soul, no post-processing needed.
First time hearing this...... Couldn't keep still😂........ Love it. ❤️
this may be my favorite song of all time...always uplifts my spirit!!
Among the greatest Rock songs ever made. Period!
my favorite band of all time is the allman brothers. thank you dad.
Thanks to Elmore James for this tune.
Allman Brothers did a great job!
Love you enthusiasm, they guys were great! Miss them but thankful we had them and we are lucky we have this music to remember just how great they were.❤
Greg Allman was definitely the singer in this band.
Your reactions are so genuine and come from a music lover's heart. Yesssssssss
I live in Alabama but I never listened to this band and I'm 60 yrs old...love it...great job
I saw them live a couple of times around this time when Duane Allman was still alive & they were so incredibly good. @@tcanfield - I was just az kid too but tagged along with my older brother & his friends!
How unfair to have Duane Allman AND Dickie Betts in the same band?
This happened because Duane wanted Berry Oakley on bass. Berry was in Dickey's band, The Second Coming. When Duane said he was going to steal Berry, people told him it was impossible because he and Dickey were inseparable. Duane replied, "Then I'll steal Dickey, too". The rest is history.
Duane (guitar) and Greg Allman (vocals and organ). Best Blues Band ever. Now in Heaven with the Lord.
A friend of a friend put together a cassette tape of random music, probably in the late seventies? This song always got turned up the loudest when we partied. Thanks for playing it!
💙👍🎶 your reaction is priceless! And yes I was a senior in high school in 1971 and it was a jam then and it's a jam now! Enjoy!
Greatest live album of all time.
This is my favorite song off that album, Live at the Fillmore East.
JAMAL! Hey baby! So good to see you here- just watched some of your great Stevle Winwood reactions. Love you, man. Have a wonderful day, & thanks for supporting another one of my fave reactors! Gotta hear this one more time now, lol.
I have always loved the Allman Brothers
For years, every time we were ever in the car for 10 minutes or longer she play play “One Way Out”. Every Single Time.
Everybody rightly talks about Duane’s genius, but Greg carried the legend of Southern blues to his death.
Anything from Live at the Fillmore is gold.
You have the best of the best here Jay ! ( Nuff said ) 🙄🎹 😎🎸
Duane (Sky Dog) was only 24 here. So darn talented!
I agree. He’s my favorite guitar player. He accomplished so much in such a short time - from session guitarist working with big name R&B artists to forming the Allman Brothers.
Great reaction...... Your enthusiasm is infectious! 😃❤️
Stormy Monday from Fillmore East is spectacular
Yes! My other fav Allman Brothers song💜💜Mr Dwayne Allman on slide guitar. We lost him when he was way too young. Dickie Betts on lead guitar.
My favorite band of all time. Love it👍
The slide guitar was really on point because Greg borrowed that song from the Blues great Elmore James (the king of the Dobro slide guitar). Southern Fried Rock was heavily influenced by Delta and Electric Blues.
Sweet reaction to a awesome band at Legendary venue thanks JV👍👍👍
Been there. Done that. Every aspect of this song is perfect.
This is my Favorite song by Allman Brothers Band!
Allman Brothers music is great for a nice long road trip.
That there is how you perform a great song Live!! Loved it
Saw them 3 times in Birmingham Alabama back in the 90's and the boy's could rock. Little weed and Jim Beam and we had a blast
Love the Allman bro. My 2nd wife birthday is next week and last year she was killed in a car wreck her name is Melissa.. I use to sang her sweet Melissa all the time. she was a very good friend. . Play it in her name. Peace
Like I said in my comment below, hell no I ain't going down there. You made me spit my drink out laughing so hard. Good job man.
My brother actually worked for Dickey Betts for a time so I got to see them perform several times in the early 1990s.
They are the greatest!!!!
One of my favorite bands.
You cannot possibly go wrong with picking any song by them...been to their outdoor concert three times at same venue: Waterloo Village..all great and consistent and boy they kept playing and playing..never let up!
Yes! 🔥. One of my favs! Thanks for listening
One of my all time favorites! Thanks.
Today Tuesday, is the day Jovaughn will break that 100k, so may I be the first to congratulate you Jovaughn. (Sound of drums and trumpets)
I remember when Duane and Barry died.. So many died so young back then. Duane made his own slides from a glass soda bottle.. damn back in the day, I wish everyone could've experienced it for just on day and night..

Enjoyed your reaction so much, gotta watch it again!

What I'd like to know is how Dickie Betts switched so smoothly from a Les Paul to an SG and back again. See 4:02
10/6/20 -The Great Eddie Van Halen has died. Thank you for the great memories. You fought a long battle, rest now.
They were well known for and mastered the art of playing dual synchronized lead guitars, which made them very distinctive.
That's a bad ass rhythm
Oh yeah, they so rock!!!!
Thank you very much. I needed that.
Some of your earlier reactions of ABB were without Duane. Duane set an entirely different mood in the band and, while Dicky Betts is no slouch, he's also no Duane Allman. Duane had an accident on his motorcycle with a truck. And one year later, bassist Berry Oakley was killed in a motorcycle accident.
I loved the guitarists chasing each other up the road.
It was great - you're right, J 👌
Allman Brothers Mode Night. Rider.my favorite
