- Has Lando Norris Become The Best Current F1 Driver On The Grid? The Brit scored the second pole position of his career last Saturday at the 2024 F1 Spanish GP. Unfortunately both Norris and McLaren failed to convert that pole position to a win on Sunday in Barcelona. Nevertheless, since McLaren brought their upgrade package and since Lando Norris winning in Miami earlier this season, the Brit has been on it and his self confidence has skyrocketed! This was reflected with his brilliant skills and great overtakes on the race track. Multiple F1 pundits and experts are debating whether Lando Norris is currently the best F1 driver on the grid!

Max is the better one so far. He’s been flawless when it’s matter the most.
Max is more seasoned than Lando given he’s been in F1 for longer and has been challenging for a title since 2021 but with Lando’s limited stint driving competitive machinery, he’s been going toe to toe with Max & beating him over one lap performance, to me they seem equal at this point to be honest, what do u think of McLaren’s chances in austria & uk?

@@MotorsportsNews I agree with you, but Max has been just a little bit better when it really counts. Lando is very quick and has the potential to be a champion, but he might still lack a bit of maturity. One lap performance doesn’t mean much if the driver can’t deliver on Sunday. The upcoming GPs in Austria and the UK could be good for McLaren, but we can’t forget that Max is always able to take advantage when the opportunity presents itself.
@@marcelcce definitely Max’s brilliant performances when he wasn’t the favourite to win have given him advantage over the others for sure, that’s the McLaren’s mishaps and mistakes i was referring to. I think the one lap performance demonstrates the driver’s capabilities coz there’s no external factors that affect the result, its the driver, his skills and his car. Im excited for the upcoming GPs, McLaren & lando have to put it all together to close the gap! If they manage to do that, do u think Lando can mount a proper title fight this season?!

Max proved today again that he’s a 1 in a million talent. Lando is a top driver and with a better car he was close. I think Checo shows the true (albeit slightly off) pace of that RB. Max is just an alien
Max is tremendously talented and as u said 1 in a million, what im saying is Lando is going toe to toe with Max even though he has way less experience driving a competitive car and less experience fighting at the front. Do you think RB was correct with renewing checo’s contract?
@@MotorsportsNews yeah Lando needs to mature (race wise) and he can beat Max unfortunately part of maturing is learning from these lessons (finishing P2) and finding your opponents weakness. He is a future WC for sure! As far as Checo I believe so. He is the most “competitive” driver that won’t give Max troubles who also brings the most sponsorship $$$ for the team. From a business standpoint it’s great for our entertainment maybe it’s not!

@@MotorsportsNews Max would win by 20 seconds if him and Lando swapped cars at the start of the race. Verstappen is faster, more consistent, and almost flawless. Even with a car that's clearly the fastest, Lando still can't beat Max. Max is the fastest F1 driver of all time, Norris doesn't come close in skill.
@@Caligula1488 there a lot of factors go into winning, thats strategy, weather, pit stops… so lando not winning isn’t entirely his fault, also we gotta take into consideration that max has been in a title fight since 2021 while its only this year that lando found himself fighting at the front and still he’s going toe to toe with max. If lando wins austria and uk is max in trouble?!

There’s no hate towards Max, he earned all he got today! I have mentioned that the advantage RB had over everyone at the beginning of the season is a huge contributor to the gap in points between Max & Lando
Lando has to be better than Leclerc before we start comparing him to Verstappen

@@MotorsportsNews lando is 2 points ahead of Leclerc in the championship in which Lando didn’t DNF, he has a better car, Leclerc without DNFs has always finished top 5 in every race, he has been consistently like this for years (at least since 2022), if Ferrari weren’t Ferrari in their strategies, this wouldn’t even be a debate.
Also lando has a massive fandom mainly cause he’s from the UK and the English media love their drivers, it’s no secret that the media love British drivers (with the rare exception of LH on occasion likely cause a lot of the internet are racist towards him)
Put them both in equal machinery and same pit stops+ strategy etc. Leclerc smokes every driver besides LH and Verstappen (case could be made for FA as well but I’m not too sure)

Kinda harsh to call Lando a loser, this season he definitely stepped up his game and is going toe to toe with Max! Don’t you think McLaren have closed the gap to Red Bull as of today?

Max is better but the feeling is Lando is closing the gap and learning from all these mistakes very steadily.

U gotta take into consideration how long max has been driving a competitive car to that of Lando’s. Max is seasoned, he’s been fight for a title since 2021 while Lando just found himself in a competitive car this year since miami!
