even my dad who is german and still lives in germany, has never been to the states has always been a marty robins fan and still is at 94 years old now.
I've always liked Mr. Shorty, and it's always great to find people who appreciate Marty Robbins. He wrote this song for his brother, who came up with the "when you call me Shorty..." line.
I was listening to the playlist without reading the titles and immediately started crying and got big chills at the beginning to "long long ago", this man is the greatest country singer ever, nobody will ever be able to reach his level, Marty is ONE OF A KIND. I am now 63 years old and still "in love" with his voice, his charm, his performance; I know the very first record I bought from my first pocket money was "Devil Woman" and I am a fan since then. Now I have a big collection of country music and buy everthing I can get and also thought I already have all songs from Marty, but sometimes I get surprised and really find one I don´t have. I can´t even say which one is my favorite, there are so many, but mostly I love the ballads (El Paso, Feelina, Red river valley, long long ago, Love me etc.), but one "good mood music" I do have, if I need a cheer up I listen to "Tonight Carmen" and I smile and always feel better. We had so many good country singers "back then", nowadays all these beautiful songs (and singers) are gone. I hear that from all country fans, but fortunately we have cd, records and RUclips. Marty - we all miss you so badly, you were the greatest - you are and you will be irreplaceable. R.I.P. , we all love you.
Greatest voice ever in western music and Hawaiian music love marty Robbins now and forever I want his music played at my funeral not any time soon however lololol
I am realy glad that there are more and more people who become to like the Great Marty Robbins and his wonderful voice and the great music he made. This man realy deserved his place in Heaven together with his compadres Don and Bill and his woman, his woman his wife Marizona, may they rest in peace.
I still love Marty's voice, they really could sing then, I miss music....So, I listen to CD's or sing and play my own. Thank you for posting this. My kitty is even loving this music....he is listening intently...maybe he knows something the record company's don't...smart kitty.
Hi,dear friend! I think that we will never get tired of listen to this great wonderful man. Thanks to Tarquin for the many great clips he is posting.Have a good day.
I enjoy seeing all the praise about Marty's singing. I really wish his family or whoever has these "Drifter" video shows assembles them in order and produces them for television or releases them as complete collections on DVD.But beyond that what I admire most about Marty is that he could sing anything! Country, rock & roll, Island, Calypso, Latin and all equally well!
My son and I still can't get enough from seeing and hearing Marty perform. Thanks again for posting! Eager awaiting your next postings... Greetings, Peter
Thanks for the great post! I've never heard Marty Robbins do a song poorly and one of the things I've always liked were the surprises Marty would come with by singing Calypso, Hawiian Country & Western or Rockabilly and he did them all well!
