    Best episode of the arc so far IMO. Honestly one of my favourite episodes of the entire show. The writing is just immaculate. Doesn't miss a single beat. The way it forces the audience to become a part of the conversation by hiding Shoji's scars until now under the mask, which we all thought was just there as a cool character design feature, as well as by focusing almost the entire show on just the big cities, hiding the audience from the harsh realities of what goes on in the rest of the country. The way Spinner and that spokesperson dude are used by All For One, and how Spinner becomes an uncontrollable manifestation of his own hatred and rage.

    Fun fact, the doctors in the hospital there actually did a breach in protocol when they defended the place. To my knowledge, a lot of hospitals actually encourage their employees to save themselves in cases of emergency like this, but here, they’re putting the patients first. It’s cool to see honestly.

    This episode went in an ENTIRELY different direction than last and I’m just remembering MVA’s cuts of Spinner’s role in watching after Shigaraki and stoking the fires of their ambition, while there’s literally a KKK in a forest manor. We never thought we would see the scene until these manga chapters came out and what would happen but the scene was inserted in the 1st War in Season 6 when it became clear the racism subject was going to take front and center at some point. It’s like the studios tried to skip it until Horikoshi forced their hand. And if this is how Horikoshi decided to force their hand good on him.
    If you’ve ever watched ANY news over the years you’ve likely seen these kinds of riots. Now they aren’t as crazy as actively attacking an actual hospital to jailbreak a villain entirely for the service of AFO’s goal. But the reasoning of the riots are the same. You look different, you’re pushed away, and then you want to push back. It’s a cycle. And in this fictional world of someone can look like ANYTHING, BE anything, well there you have your big visual driver. I hate this because there’s NO winners. Not in fiction not in real life. It’s just horrific to watch. It’s just endless amounts of angry people. Justifiably or not, it’s just SO much damage.
    Ok. And I do love how all this just made an absolute hero out of Shoji. He’s been one of my favorite students just by virtue of his endless imagination for using his body in so many ways. And seeing him FINALLY get the spotlight I’ve wanted for him for SO long brought a giant smile to my face. He’s a juggernaut in EVERYTHING he does and now seeing him just swirl around his arms to make more compacted arms for turbo punches and seeing him stretch all around under the biggest pressure of his life AND get to be the big driving force to get the people to question why they’re even there. Saving a girl AND getting torn up FOR doing so but still actually getting ANY comfort for himself and others. There’s nothing more I can ask for.
    And Koda being there as more than anything being there to stop bullying. Upgrading his quirk from talking to animals to now controlling/coordinating them is great! His mom is AMAZING taking her son and trying to just teach him to stand up to bullies as I’m going to assume her husband did for her. I WANT to be more positive of his quirk upgrade itself but in the world they live in this quirk is still pretty unwieldy with its competition. But seeing ANYONE preach hate getting swarmed by birds and taken off their perch in the process is 1000% worth it.
    Spinner is NOT managing his new quirks HALF as well as Lady Nagant did with air walk and self destruct quirk. And it’s a great tie in to how important AFO and the Doctor are as a team to make their soldiers. The Doctor can moderate the body to handle many other quirks but it takes MONTHS to get the new quirks in the body. Meanwhile AFO can instantly insert a quirk but the mind may just straight up break in the process of doing so. And Spinner is DEFINITELY the latter with his new scale armor and super sized body. And there’s still just endless references to TMNT here. Of course there’s another massive downside even if his brain was fully intact from AFO doing this. And that is he’s meant to be a worshipped figure and a call to follow him…and he himself says he has no real goal. He’s just a follower. And uhhhh that’s…a pretty hard goal to follow even with his matching pain to the mob below him. And I love every moment he confuses the mob with his messaging and the MLA leader from I THINK he was the Brown regiment under Spinner and Compress.
    The heroes not students really take a backseat here but I’m just always happy to see them be proud of the kids from the bottom of their hearts.
    And next time it just keeps on rolling over here.

    Wearing a mask to avoid scaring people is an unfortunate reality. Truth be told, I think both ways of rising up against oppression and prejudice have their merits. But I guess that’s the hardest choice for a lot of people.
    Truth be told, I feel really bad for Spinner. While he may not have wanted to be the face of this cause, he definitely cared on some level. But that care he had was physically warped into whatever he is now by All for One.
    On one hand, I would want to support a movement like this, because truth be told, a lot of people, whether intentionally or not, *have* hurt heteromorphs (mutants), and society *has* enabled that kind of behavior.
    But on the other hand, I can’t say that attacking a hospital is really a great way to prove the point that heteromorphs deserve equal treatment. It’s sad to say, but if All for One loses, then many of these people would be thrown in prison and seen as nothing more than criminals to the public. Obviously, I don’t blame them for acting the way they are though. It’s not fair that they have to make the choice to be strong against unwarranted discrimination that was thrown against them.
    Nothing about any of this is fair. But I guess that’s my main point. How should we choose to rise up against an oppressive world? Time is one of the main things that will tell.

      I blame them 100% percent. Sad backstories and the cruelties of life don't excuse criminal behavior. Especially harming innocent people. Life isn't fair. Time to grow up and stop being babies. We can work for change without massacring people "It's hard" doesn't move me one bit.
      We all have tests in life. These villains think they are somehow special when they really aren't. No different then the people they attempt to slaughter to prove a point.
      I can never understand empathy for human feces that engage in this sort of stuff. I don't care how despersate or unfair your life was.

    • @HeroNameTentacole
      @HeroNameTentacole 3 месяца назад +6

      @@maybeitsyou1317 I would say it's even more "babyish" to disregard ideologies because of "criminal behavior." I wouldn't say the law is always what separates right from wrong. And yes, I draw the line at hurting innocents, but I don't think that takes away merit from their plights either.
      They were once innocent people who were treated horribly and even attacked and killed for no reason, and now they've had enough and want to take away the government that enabled such behavior. It's a noble cause, I just don't agree with the methods.
      "Human feces," for me, applies to people who do this sort of thing without any reason aside from their own selfish gain. It's not bad to understand other perspectives. Quite the contrary. I would argue that you should understand other perspectives before you try to pass off judgement on them.

    What we are seeing with spinner is the beginning of a Nomu. It's the multiple quirks that causes their brain funtion to decline and he now has 2 additional quirks, as far as we know! It's really sad as he was actually trying to help his friends and AFO is just using him.

  • @CallMeSpinner
    @CallMeSpinner 3 месяца назад +20

    While it wasn’t at the forefront exactly, there have been a lot of instances of mutant prejudice that we’ve seen before this. Sometimes not even intentionally. Shoto Todoroki called the chief of police a “mutt,” and a member of Class 1-B saying that octopuses creeped her out to Shoji’s face. And then of course there’s the Creature Rejection Cult from last season. It’s a genuine problem that some people, heroes included, can gloss over at times.
    That leads us to here. Two different perspectives. Should heteromorphs tear down the corrupt system that enabled this kind of prejudice? Or should they prove the prejudice people wrong by becoming a part of that system? Either way, it’s hard to say whether or not that grudge will ever truly disappear.
    Biggest regret here though? Accepting those quirks from All for One. By manipulating the emotions of those who were wronged by society, he’s using their cause to further his own agenda. And now, the only person who could possibly understand what was going on, can barely speak properly.
    Ultimately, this cause was part of a bigger picture that speaks to the corruption of hero society, and changing the world for the better.
    So yeah, heteromorph rights!

    • @TheAlexC
      @TheAlexC 3 месяца назад

    The second scene with the girl Shoji rescued demonstrates the moment when, even after rescuing the child from a strong current, society simply clogged Shoji with a crowd. Just because he touched someone's "clean" child. Wow, maybe it would be better if this little girl died in this current, huh? What a dumb society, no, the herd, what a dumb herd in this anime. There are no words. His actions aimed at salvation were interpreted differently, and this highlights the ruthlessness of the crowd. She does not seek justice, but demands a blood reckoning, as if instinctively wanting to find a scapegoat. We see how hypocrisy and aggression become the main engine of interpersonal relationships. Such episodes make you think about how easy it is to condemn those who dare to act contrary to social norms. Society prefers to simplify reality by dividing it into "heroes" and "villains" without delving into the true nature of events.
