Having multiple quirks puts a strain on your mental capacity. That's why the Nomu weren't really able to think at all and can only follow simple instructions, with the exception of High End Nomu and Kurogiri (who's considered to be a perfect Nomu). So when Spinner was given multiple quirks, it's clear that his body can't handle it which is why his mental capacity is receding.
A fun fact... Shoji is actually the baby of the class. He's the youngest in class 1A which I find cute with him being the biggest and naturally strongest. He's also usually the one carrying and covering the others when in danger.
This was an unexpectedly emotional episode. It's a testament to MHA that they can get people so invested in a subplot and characters that haven't been focused on that much throughout the series. Also, you'll see this more next episode, but another thing that's really driving Spinner is his friendship with Shigaraki. Just two gamers whose scars were taken advantage of by AFO
8:03 It’s ironic that Spinner is the one having his words and actions spun to fit an agenda - and by a spider-man no less. Speaking of which, Spinner - especially after the Body Bulk quirk he got from AFO - is likely a reference to The Lizard, and the spider-guy is probably Man-Spider - both from Spider-man.
As a guy who just entered his 20s, I rarely cry. Throughout this anime, Bakugo, the Todoroki family, Deku and Lemilion (Nighteye), and All Might, these characters who have been built up made me cry softly or just tear up. However, this episode just popped off nowhere, and I cried like a toddler after a long time watching a character I never really cared about. Gotta admit how close he is to my heart now.
They don't really expand on it much, but Koda previously could only verbally speak to animals. The horns he grew allow him to now telepathically talk to animals which was helpful given the mob's screaming drowning out his voice.
If you notice, some of the heteromorphs are carrying the heads of a few CRC members. Which is the group that exists solely to harass and harm heteromorphs that we saw the League of Villains fight back in S6 Episode 13(since the flashback was moved from MVA for some reason). And Spinner's brain is currently overheating because most people(unless they're AFO, Shigaraki, Deku or Gigantomachia) can't handle the stress to the body of having more than one quirk. I guess Nagant also technically had more than one quirk and was relatively fine. But oh well. Oh. And fun fact. In the manga, the game Shigaraki tells Spinner about is League Of Legends. So that's nice. Gamer bros.
Spinner was given 2 extra quirks nagant was only given 1. The problem with extra quirks is that the body and mind cant handle em but i figure it also depends on the quirk, nagants air walk compared to spinners scale mail in terms of burden on the user seems like a cakewalk.
@@prod3clips And I'd bet that Lady Nagant, who was a highly trained and disciplined former Hero Public Safety Commission covert agent, had a much stronger will (and probably body as well) compared to the always unresolved will of a recluse such as Spinner.
Hiding one's true appearance/true self to avoid scaring people is an unfortunate reality. Truth be told, I think both ways of rising up against oppression and prejudice have their merits. But I guess that’s the hardest choice for a lot of people. Truth be told, I feel really bad for Spinner. While he may not have wanted to be the face of this cause, he definitely cared on some level. But that care he had was physically warped into whatever he is now by All for One. On one hand, I would want to support a movement like this, because truth be told, a lot of people, whether intentionally or not, have hurt heteromorphs, and society has enabled that kind of behavior. But on the other hand, I can’t say that attacking a hospital is really a great way to prove the point that heteromorphs deserve equal treatment. It’s sad to say, but if All for One loses, then many of these people would be thrown in prison and seen as nothing more than criminals to the public. Obviously, I don’t blame them for acting the way they are though. It’s not fair that they have to make the choice to be strong against unwarranted discrimination that was thrown against them. Nothing about any of this is fair. But I guess that’s my main point. How should we choose to rise up against an oppressive world? Time is one of the main things that will tell.
I love that in Class 1A there are very few actual 'side characters'. Each one has a story and a purpose in the larger narrative. Definitely a tough thing to pull off with so many characters but they do it very well!
I always wondered if Koji would use his quirk to summon a legion of birds just like in Alfred Hitchcock movie "Birds" and my expectations were much higher than I thought they would be especially when we saw Koji summon a mass of insects that one time. I'm glad that Shoji got a backstory but I was basically today years old when I found out that he was a Heteromorph.
Heteromorphs rise up!! While it hasn’t been at the forefront exactly, there have been a lot of instances of heteromorph prejudice that we’ve seen before this. Sometimes not even intentionally. Shoto Todoroki called the chief of police a “mutt,” and a member of Class 1-B saying that octopuses creeped her out to Shoji’s face. And then of course there’s the Creature Rejection Cult from last season. It’s a genuine problem that some people, heroes included, can gloss over at times. That leads us to here. Two different perspectives. Should heteromorphs tear down the corrupt system that enabled this kind of prejudice? Or should they prove the prejudice people wrong by becoming a part of that system? Either way, it’s hard to say whether or not that grudge will ever truly disappear. Biggest regret here though? Accepting those quirks from All for One. By manipulating the emotions of those who were wronged by society, he’s using their cause to further his own agenda. And now, the only person who could possibly understand what was going on, can barely speak properly. Ultimately, this cause was part of a bigger picture that speaks to the corruption of hero society, and changing the world for the better...
Unfortunately, someone who questions the actions of the company he keeps would only stick around to commit the crimes the League of Villains did if he was afraid for his life, but it seemed more like, rather than Shigaraki, Dabi, or the others, he was more afraid of going to prison for their actions. He’d likely already resigned himself to the evils they’d likely commit, possibly by constantly convincing himself that his reason was just and that everything would be perfectly resolved and okay if they won. I mean, Shigaraki claimed he would destroy everything - an extremely questionable thing to say - but even after confirming this, Spinner convinced himself, or spun it, to believe that Shigaraki only meant getting rid of injustice. Sadly, he was naive enough to believe that this meant discrimination as well.
****Spoiler I think**** For all the manga readers, can we agree that Shoji has the greatest end on that last chapter. Man is on the route of true heroism
I’m so happy we got more time and shine with Shoji and Koda. Those boys have true hearts of heroes. Despite the injustice and prejudice they received, especially Shoji, yet they both continue to fight for those who can’t fight for themselves. They co-MVPs for real. A very emotional and strong episode that made me misty eyed as well ladies.
Sam can be boyish and i love it when she uses logic and common sense from that side of her over other ladies using emotions like women would usually do. W sam ❤
Being realistic hatred of heteromorphs is much more Genetic than social. Millions of years of evolution specifically made to highlight and fear any species that killed humans which pretty much every species did. Saying that you wouldn't sh** yourself if you saw a guy with a bug head irl is total bs. Just like how Donkey's hate canines specifically on a genetic level because the Dingo's hunt them, so if you look like a Dog and come across a Donkey, better put those claws to good use and start digging a grave for yourself. Same goes for human like Heteromophs, they hit the Uncanny valley. It's looks so close to human but not quite there, You brain can't quite go between non threat and threat so it looks creepy. As Michael from V sauce puts it "Between the mountains of fear and security, there is the uncanny valley" In animated format your brain quite doesn't pick up on all this but imagine being in the hospital giving birth to the baby and a freaking Predator comes out. In real life most of the heteromorphs would look like then came out of Jun Ito or Stephen king novels. But given that the target audience of the story are 14 years old who think Female Ted Bundy here is redeemable just because she is cute and the main protag is trying to save the terrorist who makes Bin Laden look like a chump I think a discussion of psychology and genetic conditioning is a little too mature.
thats because donkeys werent bred like horses into being complacent, so instead of running theyre going to bite things, so they do okay against a wolf and a coyote, when more than one appears the donkey doesnt win. realistically this applies to any nondomesticated prey animals, because how they think is incredibility strange due to their poor visual perception, which is why you dont do certain things around them because that will trigger them, which is how you get kicked in the head by a horse. now, yes heteromorphs would be violently persecuted for looking like a monster, because prejudice against a scary thing is what keeps you alive, but at a certain point because humans are thinking creatures and they can communicate with each other, its going to go by fast, and then go too fast to the point of reaching patronizing and insulting fetishization quickly, instead of treating them like a "normal" human beings
All this talk about the genetic prejudice to hate someone different from you, you could just say you're a member of the Creature Rejection Clan. Cause the entire point of being a human being capable of higher functioning is to achieve past your base instincts.
Part of the whole "saving" them thing is less about the act and more the why. The story really hammers down that the league are a result of the way the hero society was built. It doesn't excuse their actions but learning and vowing to do better for the future is absolutely a good lesson to learn from their stories.
The major factor you're missing is that this generation of adults has lived their entire lives with heteromorphs. They would not have this uncanny valley feeling as they've never known an world without humans like that. It is their normal. It comes down to there being a larger amount of typical humans that socially condition themselves to believe they are the standard. It's similar to real racism except in MHA heteromorphs do have an actual physical advantage. This is where your talk or more primal bias would come into platy. But it still isn't in the same way you described it
your comment is insanely cringe and only gets funny when you realize you made a youtube channel after the hitman video game protag and thought that was ever cool lmao, in this world, all of this is common place, trying to pretend theres some real world pee reviewed study on heteromorphs irl is laughable and you should honestly be ashamed to ever speak
he’s still right? lmao. if they continue to fight back with excessive violence then people will hate heteromorphs even more and that’s not truly what they want. they’re just being persuaded that this is the right way to do things.
