Andy , a niice quick project made from off cuts or left overs . I would sand the openings and rub some wood wax in so they are not the raw wood edges
Hi Gary...
Thank you... yes.. great use of off cuts...
Definitely worth sanding inside.. I totally agree...

Hi Andy
Like you I saw Mikes video and promptly went into mass production,I turned out ten for and up and coming market, only sold one.
But great little project, nice change from bowls and gets rid of some scrap wood.
Good to see you back at the” happy place” again.
Regards
Hi Mal...
Well I hope that you enjoyed making yours but it's a shame and a surprise that you didn't sell more..
I love making stuff out of scraps...
I've got quite a few bowl blanks but rarely turn a bowl... must do one soon for a change...
I do like my time in my "happy place ' I hope that you are enjoying time in your workshop too..

Nicely done, Andy. I made one of these last week for an ornament exchange at the local woodturning club. Used a larger hunk-o'-wood (2 1/2") as I was not sure a 2" spindle would be big enough. Now that I see it is, I will be making a few more smaller ones.

A nice early project for those that have done a few basics on lathe, drill and finishing to start to blossom. Beautiful.
Hi Walship...
Thank you so much...
Yes.. the only thing that prevents going any smaller in diameter is the size of the tea light...
I hope that you enjoy making yours and I would love to see some pictures...

Hi Ron...

Hi Andy, made half a dozen of these for friends over Chritmas and they loved them. Great little gift idea. Each one was individual, one even looked like a beehive, thanks for another terrific video.
Hi Colin...
Ahhh. That sounds great.. I bet your friends loved them... the beehive one sounds fun..

It's so enjoyable watching you add those fine details to projects like this. I like how the tea light fits in just so. I just might have to try a little lantern in clay. Many of your projects would work as well in clay now that I think about it. 😊
Hi Gwynn...
Haha.. I had to put on my close up glasses for this one...
I didn't know that you worked in clay too... I would love to see some of your work...
I'm glad that you have enjoyed watching this one...
Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
@@AndysCornishCreations It's been a long time since I worked with clay but I love hand building whimsical things. 😊

Hi Andy the scrap wood had wonderful grain and the colour is nice. I like how you imform us on what you are doing everystep of the turning. The tealight lantern is magnificent and unique, I truly love it. Well made. I take it its raining in Cornwall like here in Scotland. Amanda xx
Hi Amanda...
Thank you as always for your kind words.. I'm glad that you liked the tea light 😊
Raining in Cornwall as well.. all through the holidays I'm afraid...

Hi again Andy,
great job. I gleaned an idea from one of Mike Peace's videos, inserting a small mirror in the top to help reflect some light from the candle. Maybe a bit OTT? I'll send you over one to try (if you have the inclination),
Cheers & Seasons Greetings from Titanic town.
Steve
Hi Steve...
I'm glad that you liked it...
Thank you so much for the card and the little mirror... it fits nicely and does reflect the light well...
That was very kind of you...
Seasons greetings to you and yours too...

nice, but the inside needs some kind of finish
Vert cool Andy...i know its rain but it sounds like your RUclips fans are trying to get in your shop😂😂...stay safe...press on 😎 Joe

Hi Andy, lovely tea light lantern Xmas tree decoration, great idea, will look great also behind a window or on the mantelpiece for sure ☺️ Well done 👍🏻 What a pity Xmas is just such a short period in the year, but next Xmas is only 11 and a half months away 😉 so let‘s get prepared! So long then, take care Andy 👋🏻😉👋🏻 Jude
Hi Jude...
I'm glad that you liked it.. I had fun making this one.. nice and simple....
No..no..no.. don't start thinking about next Christmas already...🤪
Take care Jude and all the best from Andy 👋😊👋
Hi, Andy, grate workmanship, please could you tell me what sort of of wood? Thankyou.
Hi Timothy...
Thank you very much...
It is Iroko wood .. I got some offcuts from a joinery workshop.. they use it for windows and doors...
Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Hello Andy. Great video. Thank you so much for the inspirational and educational video! super like and new subscriber. I do have a question about finishing the inside. My question is simply how would I finish the inside on the lathe to match the outside?
Hi Glen...
I'm glad that you found the video useful...
Thank you very much for your super like and subscription...
To sand and finish the inside...
Stick some velcro around a piece of 3/4 inch dowel and use the 2 inch velcro sanding pads ..
Or wrap sandpaper around the dowel and ca glue to attach or double sided tape...
Just don't stick your fingers inside...
To polish, you can just wrap a piece of cloth or paper towel around the dowel...
I hope that this will help...
Take care my friend and all the best from Andy
@@AndysCornishCreations thank you for your reply, it does help.
Hi Andy
Nice job just wondering what type lath are you working with. Thanks ali
Hi Ali...
Thank you...
It is an Axminster lathe... here is the link...
www.axminstertools.com/axminster-professional-ap406wl-bench-mounted-woodturning-lathe-230v-107656
It's a fine lathe for the money although it has increased in price quite a lot since I bought it...
Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy
Do you have a video detailing how the glue block works and how best to use it? I tried making one after watching your Xmas tree video and had difficulties.
Hi Asvaldr....
I have videos where I use glue blocks but none that explains how to make and use them..
I will try to make a video on the subject in the near future...
Gary from The Papa 1947 has done a video explaining how he makes them...

I hope that this helps...
