I’m currently reading a book called Medieval Lives, a nonfiction book about what life was like in England during the Middle Ages (1066-1485). Each chapter focuses on a particular type of person in the society of the time. I also think you would really enjoy my favorite book from my childhood, “The Voyage of the Basset.” It’s a picture book but still with a good story. It’s basically The Hobbit combined with Peter Pan. The basic plot centers around a Mythology Professor in Victorian London going on a voyage into a world of various mythological creatures onboard a ship called the Basset run by dwarves and gnomes.
Your book stack, I read A monster calls last month, oh my days I sobbed 🤭😢😢, heart breaking but fabulous book. I have most of the stack that you showed (not picked up yet but I am getting there) x
With the book A Monster Calls I would recommend listening to the audiobook, when it comes to what the monster asks for especially at the end it is really powerful and the whole thing really draws you in. I haven’t watched the movie so I need to do that but crikey listening to the audiobook and following physically wow....
A monster calls is so good! I've never read the illustrated version because sadly the copy I borrowed from the library didn't have any pictures :(. Even though I have since aquired a copy that my library was getting rid of (which also isn't illustrated) part of me wants to buy a new copy that is illustrated.
