I enjoyed watching how you disassembled the rear end/suspension, and really liked the bloopers with the couple of close calls when pressing the new bushing back into the componenets. I last did that kind of work on the "69 Vette that I had back in 1973. Just wished that I could watch the reassembly to see if there were any hurdles (hidden traps) when put things back into place. Great job!
Everything went smooth and was just the reverse of how it came out. I try not to waste peoples time if I am not being informative, or funny.
Fantastic video! I have 2 1966 Chevelles here in Washington state so I need all of the instructional videos I can get. I have a 283 in a convertible and a 427 in a hard top. Thanks a lot!
That's awesome! I will be doing more videos on it soon. Thanks for watching.
Great video Dan! Very helpful.
Glad it helped!
New subscriber to your channel. I'm working on a 70 monte carlo
Thanks for the sub! Hope you enjoy.
Thanks Dan - great video - I'm gong to do the same thing on my channel for a 67 Chevelle this week
Mark Meldrum Sweet, hope this helped. Just installed a power booster that video is coming up soon.
@@DansGarageNC check out my channel I did a couple brake projects this year on Chevelles
a little silicone around outside seal surface seals any deformities no leaks
That is a great tip! Thanks for sharing and watching.
Hey Dan, pretty sure the in-lb torque value is what it is supposed to take to spin the preloaded diff and carrier without the axles installed. You are supposed to install a new crush sleeve then torque it to achieve that setting without going over. Hate to hear of a pinion dilemma for you after the fact.
Yes, I believe it is for a new crush sleeve only with just the pinion installed. After it is installed, you do not have to worry about it as it takes an immense amount of pressure to crush it. I had this info in a shot, but it was out of focus, so I dropped it. Trying to shorten my videos, lol. Thanks for watching and commenting.
That's great, would hate to hear of a catastrophic failure on that beautiful car of yours.
very helpful. The BFH may be as usefull as the press?
Sometimes it just makes sense. Thanks for watching.
where are the springs?
On the car.
Bitchin Chevelle Dude. Have you had any issues since you changed the seal. mine is also leaking and I think I'll change it in the car.
Rick Bandy No issues, it is dry as a bone so I either did it right or got lucky, LOL. You can do it in the car, I just took mine out because I had a lot of work to do and it just made it easier. Good luck with it and thanks for watching.
Trailing arms on a car vastly different than on a truck , at least mounting points and length
You are correct, this setup of control or trailing arms are found on all GM "A" bodies from the era. We will be featuring trailing arms from a C-10 soon, so watch for that episode. lol
I cringed so hard when I saw him take a BFH to cast iron ears.
I was gentle. Thanks for watching.
