@@empty_seat had to go to the heart doctor lol 😆 I was born with heart disease but I'm still kicking thank God! But after the doctor we had some good cake and hung out with friends! I Can't complain!
Playing this on repeat for my 23rd birthday. The line, "at 19, I didn't think I'd make it to 23 - but I'm happy to be here" resonates with me so much because I've struggled my whole life and I genuinely didn't think I'd make it to 23 when I was 19, or any other age for that matter. Is the world shit and heading for dark times? Yes, but no matter how bad the future gets I'm glad I stuck around at least this long. I had a best friend/bro my age who committed ****** 3 years ago, and I wish he was here with me vibing to this song and celebrating both of us making it to 23. But it's just me. I miss him and even though I'm atheist I hope there's something on the other side and that I'll get to see him again when I leave this world.
This song brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it. I don't think I've ever said the words "I'm happy to be here" out loud and I just got hit with a wave of emotions. Thanks for the wake up call Heart Attack Man :)
for real, it's like wholesome-punk. feels so good to sing this song. ESPECIALLY on a bad day, like... Damn, this shit sucks... but you know what? *I'M HAPPY TO BE HERE! :D"
I’m 19 now, and have struggled with so much bullshit both internal and external since age 9. For the first time ever, I feel like things have the chance of ending up good, I’ve been getting happier and healthier bit by bit. I am getting there day by day, and I find this song at the beginning of this long journey to repairing myself and all I have broken in my time on this earth. I never thought I’d make it to 20, let alone 23, but I truly am happy to be here recently.
As someone who is turning 23 in 10 days. I've survived a lot. From barely finishing school initially, to feel like I was alone, to attempting suicide multiple times, and spending 4 nights in the hospital and being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I'm happy to be here because today I'm in college studying to be a teacher I have a good gpa I still am in contact with my best friend , I've met new people irl along with my internet friends who I later met makes me happy I'm here and I made it this far🥹.
That bridge that starts at 2:00 is insanely catchy. Whole song is great, but that part is mesmerizing. Would love to hear more like that. You guys rule!
At 19 I didn't think I'd make it to 23, but I'm happy to be here Welcome back from the dark side Tried and tested by successions of hard times Take a deep breath, this isn't over yet Air out the carbon monoxide There's a voice in the back of my head and it's deafening All my friends hate my guts, feel the weight of everything Bearing down on my shoulders Down on my shoulders I see my past self standing in front of me It's back like a leap year At 19 I didn't think I'd make it to 23, but I'm happy to be here I think I saw you in a past life Enamored of the glow from the gas light In a younger skin, you dug your fingers in I walked away on the last night Feeling drained, looking up at the best that's ahead of me Hold it down, power through, live to spite my enemies You wanna see me crumble You wanna see me crumble, dead on arrival but I won't give you that satisfaction Everything crashing over me nowadays feels so weightless The context is sobering You can't take that away from me.
At 23 I didn’t think I’d make it to 30. But I’m about to be there in a few days. And I can say that I’m very happy to be here.
I made it to 33 yesterday!

At 19
I didn't think I'd make it to 23,
but I'm happy to be here
Welcome back from the dark side
Tried and tested by successions of hard times
Take a deep breath,
this isn't over yet
Air out the carbon monoxide
There's a voice in the back of my head and it's deafening
All my friends hate my guts, feel the weight of everything
Bearing down on my shoulders
Down on my shoulders
I see
my past self standing in front of me
It's back like a leap year
At 19
I didn't think I'd make it to 23,
but I'm happy to be here
I think I saw you in a past life
Enamored of the glow from the gas light
In a younger skin,
you dug your fingers in
I walked away on the last night
Feeling drained, looking up at the best that's ahead of me
Hold it down, power through, live to spite my enemies
You wanna see me crumble
You wanna see me crumble,
dead on arrival
but I won't
give you that satisfaction
Everything crashing over me
nowadays feels so weightless
The context is sobering
You can't take that away from me.
