Absolutely beautiful handgun and I haven't ever owned a 1911 and the Emissary is perfect looking one to have.
I’m a 1911 purist, but recognize that to remain competitive Springfield have introduced modern features like the rail and tri-top. That said, they then missed the boat by not offering an optics-ready version. They do it for the Prodigy, why not on the .45 equivalent ?
So you can purchase it twice
If a handgun doesn’t come with some sort of optics ready system standard, I’m not interested. I shoot way better with optics than I do without and I’m not sending my slide somewhere to get it milled. It’s too easy to include an optics cut. If you don’t want to use that feature, leave the cover on. But if you want to use the feature but don’t have it available because the manufacturer didn’t include it, it’s kind of a bummer.

One of my favorite handguns is a Springfield 6" Trophy Match I special ordered from their custom shop 25 years ago. They definitely know how to make some high-quality 1911s.

@@joaopedrobaggio4475 Yeah but 1911s are far more time consuming and expensive to produce than polymer Framed striker fired pistols hence the premium for a nice one.
A high quality 1911 is expensive, it's just how things are.
@@joaopedrobaggio4475 you would have had a decent point if you hadn't mentioned Glocks. Glocks are reliable, sure, but they are way overpriced for what you receive. The amount of glock clones that are superior for either the price or quality is staggering.
The Commander is a great-looking firearm!

Yea unfortunately MSRP that I found online says almost $1400 😮 that’s sooo much for a gun man it sucks how some of the cooler new guns coming out are priced at a point where your average person isn’t going to be able to afford it.

Beautiful new line, these sharp angles and the black is awesome. This 9 mm is also great. I got an old Spring from 90 s but these new are made in great style. Video perfect.

I’ve always been an iron sight guy, but my old peepers are gravitating towards red dots now, so much easier for the eyes to pick up a target! I really think all new pistols should come optic ready/capable. But this is a very nice looking handgun and as usual a great review by Sootch00!

Didn't hear the word Glock once. I love WW I history, but I'd prefer a Mauser Broomhandle with a wood stock. Don't like skinny grips. Don't like grip safety or frame safeties.

Your outtakes at the end always make me chuckle. I like the Monolith look. It has a nice paint job. I've been watching the marketing on Springfield's 1911 line. I own a Garrison. The Emissary has a unique look, modernizing the classic 1911 platform. The whole package would be complete with an Optic cut similar to the Echelon. That would move me for a purchase. I have a couple of Bull Barrels and several with full length guide rods. I find in the reassembly to seat the spring plug as you did and leave it. Then reassemble the slide and slide stop. This places no tension on the slide stop insertion helping to prevent the "Ididot Scratch". Then simply lock the slide back and the paperclip falls out..Done. I may have missed it. Did you talk about any holsters? Some may definitely want to carry this.

My first 45 was a Colt Series 70 in 1978. It kept jamming so many different ways, I got rid of it within a month. QC must've improved.
Take the rail of the frame and polish it with 3000 then 5000 grit sandpaper, wet sand. The slide will literally float.
Do they make a barrel a little shorter that would help with concealed carry?
I like the Emissary except the plastic trigger for that price.

Welcome to the world of 1911s. They're more difficult and time consuming to produce that things like glocks so nice ones come at a premium
@@jacobt1027 I’m well aware of why they are more expensive. What I’m not sure of is why someone would by this when there are double stacks available for similar price points. If it’s just to have in the collection I understand.
So i really like a fixed barrel but i d really k why you would want that over a "floating" barrel i think its called. Or the other way around. Unless its not a thing and its just the style of fhe weapon. Could someone clear this up for me? I didnt want a google search. I wanna hear from the folks that actually bang🤙. Appreciate ya👍

For that amount of money they need to make it optics ready.
The tri-cut slide top is pretty decorative only. I can't see any real benefit from that. Ive never been blinded by glare off the side of the slide or the top of the alide. The squared trigger guard is a throwback to the 1970s when the finger forward hold by the support hand was the rage. In fact, some gunsmiths would make the front side of the trigger guard into a curve or even a hook for the finger. Just a fad that now makes it impossible to find a holster for.
Still polymer trigger? If so not a fan
it is, and normally I would say the same thing, but have an open mind!! Does the trigger REALLY need to be metal? Its not going to break!
