"Characters in slasher films from the 80's were more relatable. You'd want to hang out with these people. Nowadays, the group of kids in horror movies are mainly douchebags with their iPods and iPhones and look like they just did a photo shoot for a magazine."
You completely spoke my mind with that quote.
Jupiter9099 How is the whiny little turd in the original any more likeable than the people in the remake?
Me Man all the characters in the remake are thots
Or they are mostly written as horny Teens in ther 30s with an IQof 10
Ok boomer
Some of em you could hang out with. There were still some douchebag kids.
I'm frustrated, Andy. I want you to have the huge amount of subs you deserve. My girlfriend and I love your unique and fearless comedic perspective and have watched all your "Boots" episodes several times.
Thank you both for the support :)
StitchedTogetherPics Happy Valentine's Day, Andies!
StitchedTogetherPics you should the thing reboot
You're a creep
+StitchedTogetherPics u r one of my favourite youtubers
I enjoyed both films quite a bit. A midget getting a tiger uppercut to the ceiling with a pickaxe is pretty sweet.
I watch these all the time and i cant understand why he doesnt get more subscribers. He does so much to entertain and is a hella lot better then most channels with 100,000 sub smh dont get it keep of the good work.
Thank you.
I wanted to like the remake more. I am a big Jensen Ackles fan and I do like that they changed up the ending but you're right: too much drama.
Same.
HORROR ADDICTS supernatural is bae
The Scream Factory uncut blu ray version of the original does a great job of remastering the added footage. It doesn’t look rough at all.
I often wonder what could have been for a MBV series, and a Burning series, Harry Warden and Cropsey could have be been great horror icons if given the chance.
my bloody valentine (1981) = A++
my bloody valentine 3D (2009) = B-
Sara wasn't likable either! I mean she left her boyfriend in the mine to die, and when he leaves the town after experiencing a near-death situation, she marries her friend!Oh and when he's back in town again, she falls for him AGAIN! And when she told Axel "I love you" in the end, I became Tom's fan! :D Seriously girl?!
loved your video btw. not a fan of youtube reviews but yours was awesome :)
Thanks!
+Nadia
It always bugged me that none of the characters in the movie ever mention the fact that Sara drove off and left Tom to die. If anything, Tom should be angry with Sara.
Masked Guy and the fact the didn't get mad at Axel for cheating on her, really annoys me😒
Nadia
Me too. If you're absolutely going to insist on putting romantic drama in a slasher film of all places, at least make it *tolerable* romantic drama.
And Harry Warden later wakes the fuck up and unleashes hell in the hospital and later at the party at the mine
When you put in the Spaceballs scene, I almost died laughing. Excellent video!
My new favorite youtube show.
Thanks for watching! Glad you like the show.
I've honestly jus got sucked into your series. . more please
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy the series.
thanks so much and can you like the Blair witch remake
StitchedTogetherPics Why did you give it the boot it's a good movie?
Horrormoviefan 1988 Its really nOt
Tisha brinkley 😐 Its not as enjoyable as the original but it's an ok remake
I wouldn't mind 3D if I could keep the glasses.
I usually walk out with the glasses instead of throwing them in the bin.
StitchedTogetherPics so you kept them instead of throwing them away I would've done the same thing as well and yeah you're right too much dramatic bullshit that you don't even fucking care about the acting horrible as FUCK and surprisingly enough it's the horror movie reboot that was in real 3D technology the characters are fucking unlikable and the twist ending where Tom hanniger is the killer and not fucking Harry Warden pisses me off and yeah Harry Warden would've been another Jason Voorhees but in a good fashion way type of in any sort of way and the only positive was that to me the 3D looked great I mean it was the only 3D remake that came out in 2009 and ohhhhh god and then later in 2013 Texas chainsaw 3D came out and boy was the movie just bullshit
@@thuglifeboi2183 Dude, seriously. Use punctuation.
@@thuglifeboi2183 nearly had a seizure trying to read that comment. Punctuation exists.
Love the channel Andy's! Can't believe your channel base is so small for such high quality videos!
0:43 is honestly one of my favorite lines from this series.
Thank goodness for the budget cuts at the asylum. You’re the best Andy(s)
Dude, I've been binging your vids all day. Your reviews are great! I like that you put a unique little spin on them and that they're not just Guy Sits on Couch and Talks and Maybe There's a Skit.
I thought the main villain was bullshit too. Which sucks because his design (the miner's mask, helmet, pickaxe, leather coveralls) is comprised of very real items, which afford the wearer protection and intimidation power- it could have been so much more.
Gefreiter Nowak I love the miner attire. It makes for a very creepy villain. Although Jensen Ackles has won me over ever since I started watching Supernatural.
Okay I just have to ask this, I've been watching your channel for a while now and I've always wondered where you got the idea for your split personality broadcast? It's ingenious and very well put together but it's so unique that it's hard to figure out where the inspiration came from.
I knew I would mostly be working on these videos by myself but I wanted other characters to interact with to keep things interesting. Multiple personalities solved that and being committed for a decade explained why he's never seen all these remakes.
StitchedTogetherPics Thanks, It's an awesome idea and easily the best review channel I've seen. I can't wait to see more.
The kills in the remake were good, but the characters were all pretty unlikable.
+Masked Guy Which is weird because Jensen Ackles may be my favorite character on Supernatural.
StitchedTogetherPics
I've never seen Supernatural, so I can't say. However, Jensen Ackles did voice The Red Hood/Jason Todd in Batman: Under The Red Hood, so I know he's capable of more than this. Anyway, great review! What remake do you think you'll review next? I'd really like to hear your opinion on the remakes of The Hills Have Eyes and The Hitcher.
+Masked Guy Check out Supernatural on Netflix if you have it. I started watching it this year and have only seen half of the series. I never watched it because I thought it would be a corny CW show, but it surprised me a lot.
Usually I do a zombie flick in November. It would have been Day of the Dead, but I did Friday the 13th instead. So next is either Day of the Dead, Poltergeist, Hills Have Eyes or The Hitcher.
StitchedTogetherPics
Sounds good. The Hills Have Eyes is actually one of my favorite remakes, but said remakes of Day of the Dead and The Hitcher were awful. I haven't seen The Poltergeist remake and don't really plan to anytime soon. Regardless, I look forward to your next video, Andy.
+Nova357 supernatural is about to enter season 12
I recently found your channel and I love it!!! It's nice to hear other people's thoughts about horror movies today!
Thanks for watching! Glad you like my channel.
And few others still watching years later lol.
P.S Odd Coitus is a fabulous name/character
muder capital?
*laughs in LA/Chicago*
I prefer the original as well. I was just shallow, I watched the remake for Jensen Ackles, he's smoking hot. lol. :P
i also prefer the original remake was not bad but it was okay but i love the original
As always this is not only amazing stuff Andy's but amazing to recap aswell.
happy valentine's day , Canadians!
The wizard approves and is going back through this wonderful collection of videos you have made by the way that's a kick ass boot
Happy Valentine's Day, Andys.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Rewatching. I miss you Andy.
I just discovered this RUclips channel and I’m gonna be honest, I’m not disappointed by it showing up in my feed! Now to go watch every video on the channel!
0:58 for some reason his nonshalantness just had me cracking up hehe XD
I actually did this movie, but much like the Friday the 13th remake, I was able to get more into it because I am always rooting for the boys from Supernatural to do well. Also, as a newer subscriber who stumbled into your videos accidentally (probably drunk and pants-less), I'm enjoying it all and keep up the good work!
+Roberto Abitua It's okay. I'm replying to this comment drunk and pant-less... Thanks for watching and subscribing!
I randomly bought the original without knowing much about it...and I really liked it. I so wanted the original to have a sequel.
I think Axel’s motivation in the OG was more about him going insane due to seeing his dad murdered in front of him as a child. Don’t think he really cared about Harry’s “no V Day dance or else!” vendetta; Axel just snapped on that particular Valentine’s Day in 1981 and went on his spree. The director actually wanted a potential sequel to have the time jump like the remake did, but exploring TJ and Sarah with PTSD after Axel’s killing spree; whether Axel would’ve returned like Harry Warden in the flashback story I don’t know about
BOOOOOTS, BLOODY BOOOOOOTS!
billybobtexas Sepultura reference?
Thrash Metal Commenter fk yeah!
I REALLY, REALLY LOVES "BOOTS to REBOOTS"!!!!! The presenter or is "THE BEST". Fantastic work. I don't need the flicker. Just to"Boots Reboots". Thanks!!!!!
I like the orginal better....WAYYYY better
Everything you say about the '80s horror movies is so true about the characters being likeable Rock on
You honestly deserve more subs than how many you have
Those dudes where having way too much fun in the shower
As usual your breakdown is better than movie
*Jared Padalecki in Friday the 13th*
*Jensen Ackles in my bloody Valentine*
*What's next?! Misha Collins in Nightmare on elm Street*
*Mark Sheppard in Texas chainsaw massacre*
*Mark Pelligrino in Hell boy?!*
*Jim Beaver in Hannibal Lector*
Jared was also in house of wax
To me, if used right, 3D can be something to add depth to a world. One example for me is Avatar, it didn't do the 3D gimick like spy kids, or my bloody valentine where things came at you. Instead it helped the world feel more real, like you see just how alive it is. This is where I feel a movie converted to 3D is supirior because I feel it helps immerse you in the world of Star Wars, or you're on the Titanic. If done right, 3D can be used to add to the artistry of the movie.
I really the original film, one of the better slasher films I've seen, I think it has some of the most likable and believable main slasher characters. the remake is surprisingly pretty enjoyable to me even if it's nowhere near as good as the original and it's a bit hokey.
There is something deeply weird to me about the way the remake looks. Too smooth, weird lighting maybe? It reminds me a bit of a daytime soap opera.
Looks like old TV movies Bloody Valentine remake deserved better
I am definitely interested in seeing a prequel.........to Andy's life before StitchedTogetherPics :D
I LOVE both these movies..so great!!
Awesome vid love your humor
Thanks!
The remake pulled a fight club
"I've never seen a 3d movie". Not surprised, those glasses are so dark I'd be surprised if you could see your hands if they were in front of your face...and still attached to your arms
Okay, the remake was no Citizen Kane (Exaggeratedly Spoken).
But (even if it sounds funny) you have to give some credit to the actress, who ran around naked the whole time in the motel act. Probably few would have dared to pull it off.
I watched this movie! I found it on sale at a K-Mart. I definitely knew that Jensen Ackle's killer was the killer for one very simple reason. The fact that I'd seen comments on it and people didn't like what happened to his character(so I knew he either died or he was the killer. It happened with Daniel Radcliffe in Woman in Black).
I was also very confused by the weird sex scene. It was just weird how it was thrown in there, imo.
Roy was possessed by Jason.
Such a great channel man!
lol that news reel shot... nice catch
The saddest thing is originally they were gonna make a sequel that’s would be like 30 years later but they trashed the sequel and just used the rights to make the shitty remake, it was gonna have the original character retuning as well (or at least what was left of them)
Awesome review Andy you make several valid points, I'm still awaiting a uncut release in the UK of the 1981 film on Blu ray, sadly only version available in England is the cut version distributed by Paramount, I agree barring the naff conclusion the original is a gem & I agree the focus should of been on Harry Warden who'd make a great addition to the slasher genre..
I enjoyed the remake, the kills were gruesome & I'm a big fan of Supernatural so Jensens appearance was a neat touch but I agree with you the were times I thought it went all soap opera, we want horror not that slushy romantic jargon.
Really hoping you post up more videos! We miss you Andy!!!!
Good andy with his little dinosaur lol
At least this has film has a Believable and slightly relatable slasher villain traped in a mine low on oxygen and food and slowly going insane from trying to survive from the cave-in
Who throws a party in an abandoned mine? That's like putting dynamite on a birthday cake!
I like this movie.
this ........ is........gory like piranha
3DD
How i love your videos. Is so much fun.
A flyer on a wall indicates that Valentine's Day is Saturday, February 14th. That would mean the previous day is Friday the 13th.
The first R-rated film projected in Real D technology.
The film was made into a haunted house at Universal's "Halloween Horror Nights."
There was also an episode titled "My Bloody Valentine" on Jensen Ackles' TV series "Supernatural."
The screenwriter, Todd Farmer, also appears in the film playing the role of Frank the trucker.
Jensen Ackles and his "Supernatural" co-star Jared Padalecki both starred in remakes of 1980s horror films in 2009. Ackles was in this film and Padalecki starred in the 2009 remake of "Friday the 13th."
Jensen Ackles wears the same jacket in Supernatural
The original My Bloody Valentine (1981) was one of a number of holiday themed horror movies made following the success of Halloween (1978). Tom Atkins appeared in Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) while Betsy Rue appeared in Halloween II (2009).
In the original script the main scene for Betsy Rue's character was written differently with a lot less nudity. According to her, it was her idea to go totally nude because she felt it made more sense for her character.
The first two characters killed on screen are named Jason and Michael, a homage to characters from the Friday the 13th (1980) and Halloween (1978) series where the killers are non-speaking. A direct reference to the films is how they die - trademark features of the characters.
In this film, Sarah's housekeeper, Rosa, is found burnt inside a dryer while another scene has Sarah being bombarded by miner gear toppling from the ceiling. Both sequences are recreations from the original 1981 film.
The My Bloody Valentine's screenwriter Todd Farmer plays the truck driver who has sex with Betsy Rue's character in the motel and then gets chased by her through the parking lot while she's totally naked. Many fans have joked that he must have written the scene just so he could spend all that time with her naked.
That’s The Coolest Easter Egg Ever.
Howly looked like a riot! Who could kill that big jolly guy??
Me: Well I'm gonna watch this even tho I know I'm going to be upset.
Me after watching:. I knew it.
I saw the remake in the theater three times. I saw it all three times for Jensen.
I'm a woman. I have needs. Don't judge.
I wouldnt mind if they made sequel as long as it opened with axel getting a pickaxe through his face
Damn we miss you Andy
I vividly remember seeing my bloody valentine 3D at a 7-11 many years ago
Yep definitely thift store/ corner store movie
I only watched (and sadly own) this movie because I told someone I liked My Bloody Valentine the original and wanted to get a copy...they gave me this dreck. The remake was beyond terrible I can't believe there are people who like this version.
I live on the island the original was filmed on.i live about 20 mins away , nothing much there really now , sadly.
07:05 would it suprise you if I said there was never an episode where in lassie gets help for Timmy or anyone stuck in a week? SUPRISE! it's true. it's damn true.
You know its going to be a fucking masterpiece when says 3d
Well Tom is a Winchester he can't die
How do you get Jensen Ackles and have him act like the opposite of his character Dean where most know him from? It's the same with Jared Padalecki in the Friday the 13th reboot
yeah the original My Bloody Valentine I also saw the limit before it's over inmate a little more sense that way
You deserve millions of subs
DEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OH CRAP!!!!!! NOSE MINER'S!!!
HA! Miner...
Can you look at all of the Pumpkin Head Movies?????????????
question, whats the opening theme song you use in this song? I really like listening to it and I rewatch this episode a ton just to hear it.
Its no surprise that when a Canuck slasher relocates across the border, a lot of the characters become less nice
Two counter points:
1. Irene was adorable and hot, easily the most likable character.
2. Jensen Ackles is NOT "just some guy".
Other than that, great video :)
Sadly, I didn't start watching Supernatural until this past year. Dean is my favorite character on the show. Once I started watching the show I was like, "Oh shit, I take back anything bad I said about him in that review." Although I still feel that the Tom Hanniger character is not as likable or interesting as Dean Winchester.
The only reason I ever bought this movie was for Jensen Ackles and Tom Atkins. Two actors I love. Haha.
Violets are purple.
I love this band
I like the original movie
Come baaaaaack😫
Sadly RUclips new rules are ruining it, im sadly doubting he will returb
It's pretty frustrating and sad the original had to edit/cut all the kills like they have done with other slasher movies at at the time
I really enjoyed the original My Bloody Valentine the story the slasher that's so much the cast and the kills could have been better but maybe I'm just being a little you picky I guess but I suppose they could have been better if they weren't censored with the ones they did have the movie what's the remakes / sequel I really do enjoy the effects, The Kills, and the story was good and I noticed that Henry in this movie behaved and reacted like Jason then had a killing style to me was a mix of Jason and Michael Maybe that was the inspiration
Andy, I have a theory. Mabye, Harry's a ghost and possessed Tom. But if they do continue the series, Harry can posses s new person each year.
Funny you mentioned this feels more like a soap opera than a horror movie, considering Jensen Ackles was in a soap opera.
I TRIED to watch the remake when it was on TV and I started late so it was already just before the opening credits and I couldn't even get through them. That's not a good sign. How could they possibly have Carter from Final Destination as Axel and screw that up?! Clearly they were unaware that Carter IS Axel, same personality and everything! Even with the opening when he lures the woman into the mine for her heart I love Axel in the original, Biff Tannen before there WAS Biff Tannen (given how he went after Lorraine), though I too wish the killer really WAS Harry so that Axel and TJ could work together to kill him only for Axel to lose his arm or even die protecting his friends. Everything about the original wins for me, the look and feel and sound and characters, and I love the end credits song. I would have been REALLY into a franchise like Friday the 13th too if every installment included more characters connected to Harry somehow so that's how we learn more about him, but the twist could have been he KILLED everyone and got away every time.
What I liked about the original is that not only was it filmed in Canada, but was actually ABOUT Canada, and not just using Our Neighbors to the North as a substitute for, say, Boston, or Los Angeles.
This just makes me love the original all the more 🫠🙂
00:51 just say you tore right onto it. nothing could rip you away. if we can't resolve this now they'll get shredded in court. I gotta split. c-ya
I knew the killer wasn’t Harry about 15 minutes in i knew it was Tom when he passed by the window at the motel.
"Wink wink!!" 😂
actually that's normal for couples to fight it so it's not a big deal
+I love this show is a very education show Cassidy Yeah, but they shouldn't be _constantly_ fighting...
Andy could you review Saw 1&2&3 The Hills Have Eyes 2 2007 remake
I've never seen the original but loved the remake
