The original Tobe Hooper “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” from 1974 is still the best. The best scene was the “Try anything get canceled bro.” Leatherface ain’t worried about being canceled. Great video Andy.
@Castelar Garcia Yeah that sucks just like this reboot/sequel. All of what you just named is just to take away the other family members. That’s why this series is dead and on Netflix.
I really don’t like how they handle Leatherface. He isn’t Michael or Jason. He wasn’t superhuman strong in the original even as a young man. Let alone here when he’d be in his 70’s. He also isn’t an unstoppable killing machine. He’s a mentally handicapped child in a grown man’s body acting out of fear and impulse and doing what his crazy family tell him to do. The family is not here AT ALL. Big mistake, the family is even more scary Evan Leatherface is. Most of the new characters were insufferable. There were like two what I did not hate. The rest sucked and that also missed the point. Sally feels shoehorned in here. She doesn’t get much screentime, she’s a total idiot, and it feels weird seeing her played by a different actress. It just does not have the same impact. It feels like this character could have been anyone honestly. The script for this film is just a mess.
I agree with all of this except calling him a child in a man's body. As someone who is literally disabled, that is not the right take for him. Yes he is mentally challenged but he was capable of holding a job, albeit a culling one, and he is capable of doing a lot. He is a man who is mentally challenged, not a child.
No, he does have the mentality of an 8 yr old in a grown mans body, he was never fully educated, in part 3 he kept typing food in the machine he was playing with when it was a picture of a clown
@@DR676767 You could argue for one that part 3 is not even Bubba but alright. That is like saying my Uncle Gus is a child, simply because he has to have assistance with day to day life and couldn't get past highschool due to his learning issues.
I think it absolutely could have worked having another actress play Sally instead of Burns. The issue was how the script handled her character. They played it up making the audience feel like she was going to be in the movie more and as if she was going to play some pivotal role in taking Leatherface down. She ended up being the movie for a total of 5 minutes and then gets taken out very quickly. For her to be chainsawed and lifted in the air, but then minutes later be able to still shoot a gun at Leatherface was rediculous!!
I'm so fucking glad to hear somebody else say they should have brought back stretch and maybe even chop top. I've said before that I feel like this very stylistic very colorful neon lit Texas chainsaw would have been oddly fitting for a more over the top feel akin to part 2. I could totally see stretch and chop top running around in this movie
Right? At the beginning of part 3 we see Stretch finally made it as a reporter. Perhaps she finally cracked the story and tracked down Leatherface. Perhaps it's a rights issue.
The untouched horror of the original film that has yet to be replicated is the realism of everything...it is believable that it could've happened, every kill and situation. Its the kind of scare that you don't necessarily feel the full impact as you see it, but think on it for a while. Little to no gore was needed for the impact of the film, what your mind paints off screen with the proper lead is far worse and realistic than anything that can be directed...that being said I do not enjoy the kills in this new film. Are we expected to believe that a 75 year old leather face can reach over and break a man wrist clean off and then stab him in the neck?? Was it cool to see? Yes...but it does not fit the character in my opinion and eliminates the haunting scare affect of being realistic.
They acted like it was mortal kombat and the story and cohesion to the 1974 was a disgrace,to leatherface just go from being mentally handicapped to being as smart as Michael Myers it’s a joke
@@danielventura8118 He wasn't smart in the newest film, even compared to his 1974 self. He simply felt threatened. Felt like his home was being taken by him. The movie is not just a critique of the American fascination with death and guns, but an in depth criticism of gentrification

This really shows how low the bar of quality has gotten in terms of this franchise I feel like the last Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie that people would consider to be actually good was the 2003 remake Despite some problems (like with all movies), it’s arguably held up well especially when compared to other instalments
I agree , the 2003 one is the last decent one they made . everything after that just seemed to get worse and worse . The writers don't even know what they're doing anymore , it's just random stupid characters doing random stupid things with a thin weak plot , The movies got more incoherent and made less sense .

Even after all these years I still prefer the 2003 remake and its prequel after the original. There were a couple of cool scenes and I liked the Leatherface in this movie but god I hated how they handled Sallies character. Overall I found the movie Ok. Like you said its not the best sequel but its not the worst by a long shot in the franchise. The next generation & Leatherface still give me shivers.

I really enjoyed my time with this movie. I found it way better than pretty much most of the movies that followed the original movie. There are plenty of misses and issues but Leatherface and the kills and gore was fucking topnotch. My expectations weren't high to begin with, given the history of the franchise but one thing is that it moved quickly and didn't overstay it's welcome. My biggest point to make is that the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre didn't need a sequel, more so than any other major Horror Icon and Tobe Hooper knew that well. While I don't know of he ever flat-out stated as such, but that's why the 2nd movie to follow the 1974 original was such ahue tonal shift. It reminded me of Gremlins and how itself didn't really need a sequel (nor did the director want to do so) and how the sequel went pretty wild as well. All this tells me is to just not clutch the franchise so tightly and be so ready with pitchforks or expect a movie to really follow up the same success as well as the original movie had.
I come home from work , and settle in to wind down, and what do I see in my feed? A video from Andy the Maniacal cinephile……great way to finish the day!
I don't recall Leatherface having super-strength when he was young, no less when he's a feeble old man. He had to struggle just dragging a young woman who was fighting him. His durability also went WAY up. Also, what's the stop the police from just going after him, now? His old house would be an obvious place to go.
It's not clear yet that the police know who committed the murders. They could only find out if Lila told them about Sally, and we don't know what became of Lila.
I mostly agree with you one this one. my main issue is how they handled Leatherface, They made him too superhuman-y like Michael or Jason. like he felt no pain throughout this whole movie. Leatherface is 100% human, so why's he shrugging off shotgun blasts (which have the accuracy of a fucking rifle) and a stab to the stomach? Sally was definitely shoehorned in and had no business being in this movie. other than that I like that they made the characters unlikeable because I'm here for Leatherface, not some forgettable gen z asshole.
Spot on. He was very vocal in the original, and howled in pain when his chainsaw cut his own leg, yet in this one he was a silent tank like Michael and Jason. Didn't fit him.
@@scottneil1187 which makes this even worse, because one slug to the chest would throw you across the room while ripping a pretty big damn hole through you. Leatherface eats like 5 slugs, one which shouldve ripped his shoulder clean off, and keeps going like nothing. Also to add insult to injury sally shoots his chainsaw and it ricochets and still works perfectly.
A shotgun slug won’t throw anyone across the room, they don’t have the mass and energy to do that. But you’re correct that they’ll put a big ass hole in you, and probably would’ve nearly severed his arm with that shoulder shot. Shotgun slugs will knock down and incapacitate even the largest man. So yeah, it was ridiculous that Leatherface ate those slugs and kept going… and it’s equally ridiculous that he deflected that one shot with his chainsaw (somehow still functioning afterwards lol). But hey, it’s a movie. And honestly I found it entertaining enough. Not terrible

Great review Andy brilliantly summed up, I enjoyed it despite the flaws which mainly consist of Sallys character & annoying characters, at least this film is a gory gorefest & gives us a bad ass Leatherface.
I will say I had a blast with this movie. It may not be as good as the original, but I'm a fan of the craziness of part 2, next generation, and the 2003 remake. The bus scene and the final fight are my favorite moments. Thank you for your review.
I think its Criminal Andy doesn’t have more Subs, his reviews are fantastic. I watch and Rewatch them all the time, and each time notice a line here or joke there I didn’t before.
Pretty much nailed how I felt about it. I think if they'd cut Sally out completely, there would've been some more room for character development. I dug the callbacks to TCM 2 and other bits of lore tho'. IF they follow up on the post credits bit, maybe we can see a return (or would it be an introduction) of Chop Top. Anyway, loved the review and seeing you Andies again!
My brother has this friend, Tony. Tony used to have a pet bird. The two of them watch the original TCM so often that the bird would say “ruined the door” every time someone opened the front door.
It’s cause we never just had Sally’s perspective like Halloween with Laurie,it followed a group of characters compared to just Michael stalking Laurie.Sally was just the one to escape, also leatherface would have been 75 around, has no disability anymore and got adapted at 25 to 30???also what happened to his family? It just was such a bummer I had middle hopes for this movie

It’s not the worst and definitely not the best in the franchise. Middle of the pack. Good gore/kills. The fake Sally was super cringy. The last kill was extremely satisfying. Definitely better than the last 2 movies. It was fine and fun.
In the original film, Leatherface was a simple-minded man-child whose only job was to protect the house from strangers. So, they turned him into a maniacal psycho killer. Why not? Another disappointment.

@@stevilknevil107 i was exaggerating but yeah I thought it was delightfully stupid.
ooooo yeah man love your reviews !
Thank you!
That was great Andy. I laughed my ass off, especially the cornfield gag.
You really deserve more recognition! I really love your content.
Thank you!
Awesome - been wondering about TCM 2022!
Hail Tug! We need to get the Andy's more subs.
Oh nice cool to see your a fan
Hey there!
New one (2022)- this leatherface would have Michael myers, Jason vorhees and Victor from HATCHET running away!!! Absolutely brutal!!!!! Wow!!
Did anyone else laugh out loud when Leatherface just swiped Melodie’s head off right at the end? 🤣
Hey man I have been really fucking sick the last few days, I caught a nasty stomach bug, and I found your vids and they've definitely been keeping me entertained. Thanks my dude.
i really love the effort that goes into every video! it is absolutely rare to see in channels under 100k! def subbed!
Just discovered you today and I gotta say that "How low can you go" joke was fricking great. Cracks me up, just like your back
Holy shit, I totally forgot. I was expecting a standard movie review and then it hit me that it’s a remake sort of, so not only do I get a move review, I get an episode of boots to reboots!
I just rolled out of bed and this was the perfect way to start my day off. Thank you, Andy! As always, your review was as funny as it was well-written and researched. Thanks for all your hard work and have a lovely day/afternoon/evening/night!
Thanks so much, Alice!
@@StitchedTogetherPictures You are very welcome! :)
What are the odds that i just watched this and 2 hours later i go on youtube and andy just uploaded a review? 😆
Today was a really shitty day but seeing this upload made my day thank you Andy n Lil buddy and Evil
Have a nice day!
Thanks for watching!
12:12 "His moves are arthritic" lmfaoooo
Also love your Faceless Ghouls Mask!
Ahhh the triage of Andies has returned. Good to see you again brothers!
That bus scene (besides the cringe line) was a glorious slasher scene!
Seeing your new videos online always puts a smile to my face, I can't wait until you explode one day :)
Thank you!
I think its Criminal Andy doesn’t have more Subs, his reviews are fantastic. I watch and Rewatch them all the time, and each time notice a line here or joke there I didn’t before.
Thank you, Stephen!
"The Texas Continuity Massacre" is a perfect title for this movie 🤣
Pretty much nailed how I felt about it. I think if they'd cut Sally out completely, there would've been some more room for character development.
I dug the callbacks to TCM 2 and other bits of lore tho'. IF they follow up on the post credits bit, maybe we can see a return (or would it be an introduction) of Chop Top. Anyway, loved the review and seeing you Andies again!
Dude! Did you have to take a dump so close to me?!?! FUCKING GOLD!
My brother has this friend, Tony. Tony used to have a pet bird. The two of them watch the original TCM so often that the bird would say “ruined the door” every time someone opened the front door.
Sally really didn’t have the impact a legacy character should. She just felt tacked on at the last minute and it shows.
BEAUTIFUL! Love the Nameless Ghoul mask in the background.
"the four yutes". I understood that reference! 😂
As soon as you said it was on Netflix, I jumped to watch it before I watched the vid. You hit the nail on the head with basically everything I experienced when watching it
Awesome, I’m getting my 69 Mustang back from the body shop after a tear down restoration and 20 years of sitting. Then the Andy’s uploaded a new video. What more could I ask for. Stay weird Andy’s.
ANDY!! ANDY!!! ANDY!!!!!!…..I’m not cheering….I’m yelling all your names lol
When Sally told leatherface to say her name, would've been hilarious if he said " you never told me bitch" 😆
Always know it's going to be a good day when it's started with one of your videos!
You are my favorite youtuber cause for some reason, anytime i watch a new movie, you have the exact same views on it and i love it
This is the most underrated horror channel on RUclips!!!
Boots to Reboot my absolutly favourite youtube series! thank you Andy!
I pray and hope one day Andy does a boots to reboot on House of Wax. I love the original so I’d like to see him do it
Oh man I lost it at "franklins old piss can"!
I just got back from the dentist, wearing my Texas Chain Saw Massacre t shirt ironically.
I love how much time and effort Andy puts into this series. Keep up the good work and just know... I sing ur theme song while I'm at work or whatever lol 🤣
Thank you, Miguel!
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Tobe Hooper is one of the many reasons I'm proud of being a Texan!
Hey, don't forget about Texas BBQ. The secret ingredient is hippy douchebag.
I’ve been waiting for this video!
Been waiting for this lol thank you andy !
The bus “Chainsaw Massacre” was absolutely brutal!! I fucking loved it!!
I get so happy when I see new videos from Andy
Why have I only come across your channel now? Metal, horror, masks, reviews, and all the goods!??!!!?!?!
Damn, subscriber earned Good Sir.
Now a new Candyman is out, new Scream, Wrong Turn. Maybe new Boots To Reboots?
Leatherface felt like michael myers in this film
No noise, smart coordinated attacks, a walking bulletproof vest😂 Great vid Andy!!
Wal-Mart greeters are still a job. We have at least 5 greeters that switch between shifts at the one on Madison Street here in Clarksville, Tennessee.
I completely agree with you. I almost consider this the John wick of the TCM series. Mom dies instead of the dog he goes ballistic and takes anyone out in his way.
Never was really a Texas Chainsaw fan, so I got my fix with this. In all seriousness, your videos are so informative as well as entertaining. Thank you, Andy!
I have to admit, the bit with people trying to get Leatherface cancelled was really funny to me XD
I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Not great, not awful, just good enough that I’ll watch it again at some point.
Oh hell yeah Andy! Super pumped for this
Andy's thank you so much and perfect timing with this video. It's been an incredibly hard 2 weeks and today I finally got to ride my electric skateboard with my little Kitty cat And as soon as I got home from that amazing ride your video dropped....Like the cherry on top of a Sunday. Good video Andy's as always and thank you guys!😺⚡️🛹🔥
Hope you are doing great! Your reviews brighten my day!
I never thought about TCM being a general clash of cultures. Now looking back I can absolutely see it. Good observation.
I cant help but feel like that chainsaw uppercut was a nod to Stretches chainsaw uppercut from Part 2, that and the primal screaming
There's also another Leatherface movie called Cannibal Farms. I haven't seen it yet. Hopefully one day we can see you talk about that movie too. Again great video
Watched this last night, re watching, I love your videos Andy xx
Glad you like them!
Andy, I usually wait to hear your reviews for these remakes and reboots before listening to the rest of the crowd. I prefer to hear your take on things first, for whatever that is worth. Cheers!
Oh yes!!! Been waiting for THIS review as soon as I had seen the movie!!! LFG ANDY!
The jokes worked very well in this review Andy. 😄😄 Well done. 👍
4:49 the hell are you doing in my house
