    Dave it is amazing the number of different trapping videos you've shared. This is really turning into a comprehensive series. Thanks.

    He went through setting the traps in great detail during the first videos in this series. I believe in this video he is focused on showing a trail blind set. He is really good at making the point of each video stand out. I have noticed he doesn't really worry about details that don't have anything to do with what ever point he is focused on. If you look back earlier in this series you can find the way he sets these and he shows what the pins look like and everything. :)

    As a side note, I made charcloth for the first time! :-) I poked a hole through an Altoids can lid and made some from handkerchief material squares. I used a couple of empty prescription bottles as semi-air tight containers for holding both the charcloth as well as the non-char cotton material.

    You can bend them any direction you want them. Bending them out like that covers more area inside the jaws, less room for something to squeeze through w/o setting it off.

    ever consider making a video on how to set a conibear with a rope? would be much lighter than a setter and multi-functional.

    Okay, I re-watched it. Very good video. Highest respect for you sir. Again, sorry I can't see the video footnote on my iPod, only on my PC.

    make sure and check your state regulations on trapping, in my state we arent allowed to set conibear style traps on land or above water. Ours have to be in the water to use conibears. Which sucks because i love bucket sets!!

    I mean setting the springs and it would also be good for setting 280s and 330s. just a suggestion for the series, it is a good option to someone like yourself that traps off the beaten track.

    Wow.. that's a pretty big trap.
    Thanks for the video brother.

    Suggestion, You should get a trail cam and set it up on one of your leg hold traps, so people can actually see the animal getting caught, as well as the animals behavior before stepping into the trap.

    Hey Dave,
    I have a cat that loves to romp around and mess with my traps. If she was caught in a foothold would she be injured or just startled? I saw you put your fingers in one but didnt know about the cat.
    Thanks, Luke

  • @DarqueScape

    Do you have to worry about a larger predator stealing your kill and your trap. I was thinking about the hawk that got your rabbit in that awesome video all those years ago, and wondered if that fox that left the tracks would try to steal your kill, and if it would have the strength to drag off a trap that big.

    Dave, I was curious. Will that Pathfinder Tarp fit on someone that's 5'3'? I remember you saying that if fit on you at 5'8'' (if I remember right), but I don't want to spend a bunch of money of something that won't fit, anyway. Also, I was wondering about an ancient & modern combo trap (like an Asian Bird Snare mixed with a conibear, somehow). Is there a way to combine these type of traps (not just the bird snare, of course), maybe the bait one way & the trap another?

    Couldn't see anything as you worked in the grass. "This thing" deserves a noun in a teaching video.

    Great video. I'm not allowed to use a ground set like that where I live. Too many dogs and cats. Tomorrow I'll get 11 pine marten 160 conibear/belisle box-sets out. Using tampons boiled in honey and anise as bait and rig them in trees 5 feet off the ground. That will keep the cats out of them.

  • @Shannon_Lacey
    @Shannon_Lacey 12 лет назад

    I'm going to have to re-watch this video when I'm not so tired. I assume that the use of the 220 on ground is just for educational demonstration purposes. The way I read it, Ohio law only allows up to 5"x5" Conibears on ground?

    I think by these vids Dave is showing all types of sets legal or not its a state by state deal but in a survival situation the rules go out the window if it comes down to following the rules or feeding my family family gets food

    dave, do you plan on doing any live chats using the "hangout" feature? thanks for the vids and keep em coming.

  • @jaxboonie
    @jaxboonie 12 лет назад

    yeah, I think that's what youtube calls it. you're basically on live and there's a chat box on the right side of the screen where people can post questions. look at neverenuffammo channel, he's done a few of them.

    Does the crushing effect of the connibear style trap ruin the meat or can they still be eaten? Great job by the way, been watching your journals of the yurt last couple days.

    Aren't you from Ohio? If I'm not mistaken you can't use a a 220 for a land set there...

    I have always wanted to be able to take advantage of conibear for trail sets. It is illegal for me in my state. Even run pole sets. I can use them in waterways at the high-level mark. But it is best to set in a little water so the wardens can't make an argument about high-level marks. Always check for rules to change every year.

    Great videos and this one just as good. Only thing about the first part of this video was obscured by the foliage. I realize it is hard to shoot these in the open wild but for teaching purposes you sometime have to clear away the brush for your students to see. Otherwise great video like the rest in the series.

    No sir I did not. The note did not appear / show up on my iPod version of RUclips. Again, I was very sleepy last night and was having trouble staying awake. I kinda knew in the back of my mind that was what you were doing (educational/demonstration purposes). Perhaps I shouldn't have posted the comment and known by now. Sorry Dave.
