Just bought my trapping license today, 2 110 conibears & 2 Double spring leg hold traps from rual king, this will be my first season of trapping, I have learnd so much from your videos and look forward too the season! Love the videos Keep em coming Dave, God Bless you and your family brother.
I sat at my computer and laughed for 5 min when when you said " Maybe lets move this turd over here." That caught me totally off guard. Great video Bro!
Hey dave, you should mark these traps with a dirt circle around it or arrange twigs around it in a distinct pattern. Just for safety purposes and easy finding. Thanks for the entertaining video, good day brother.
Just keep at it brother, keep your traps set, and everything the way it should be and keep as many out as you can handle checking. also bait and scent are key. hope this helps. good luck!
Excellent vid Dave I was wondering if your going to show people how they can set a 110 conibear in a tree with a little peanut butter on a cotton ball works great for squirrels as for the set itself they make a bracket that gets nailed to the tree and holds the trap also great for Martin
Great looking set! You said in the video that the trap is dog forward it looks dog away.... The two tone dirt is perfect for a sign post set and will also let you know what animals are in the area so you can target them. What do you say?
Dave, please have your camera running when you go check this trap! I was wondering about winter trapping. Do all these tips apply to a snow covered enviroment too?
So Dave when you baited the game trail you had a deer trip stick , but kf a deer happens on the dirt hole set can a deer just pull out of that leg hold.
I still watch these over and over. Everyone talks about shtf...but brings rifles and bows and fishing gear. All that's ok but if you want to secure meat year around, trapping is where it's at.
Learning so much and it always gets me thinking. Now that full animal bladder won't get discarded, nor loose fur, even poop gets used. I appreciate the many demonstrations to utilize the many resources all around us. Any word on noticing disease in an animal, or is it pretty much just common sense, like rotting/odors, discoloration, disoriented animal..? Thanks!..
So cool! This modern trapping series... & actually all your videos, are just awesome!! How does the 110 conibear set up as a foot hold compare with this trap as far as weight & holding power? Would it be ok to just carry conibears due to their versatility, multifunctionality, & compactness?
I absolutely love that dry land where you come from. Know how in Canada you get the permafrost? Well in Scotland we have the permaswamp. Where you are looks great.
@nerb, No the fox urine is the cover scent for human scent and works better due to it being more natural stronger smelling scent so it works better at bringing in animals.
Are you concerned about Trichinosis? Here in Germany if i hunt a "meat eating animal" i always have to send in a probe. When the probe comes back negative i am alowed to eat or sell the meat. If you are hunting racoons or cyotes what is your take on it? Of course in an emergeny i will eat almost anything, but apart from that? Thanks for all the work you do Dave, God bless you! Greetings from Germany.
dave i just started trapping im 14 and havent got any thing yet and been at it for 3 weeks what is the most important thing about trapping that you need to do to bring in game
that shouldn't be a problem as long as you're not eating the animal(in the case of coyotes) or you thoroughly cook the animal(meaning done and well done, absolutely no pink or red).
I know you've stated you're not to concerned about human scent. It's unavoidable. "Scent Away" makes various products claiming to minimize human scent. Spray, shampoo, soap, even dryer sheets. In your opinion, do these products make enough difference or give enough advantage to take the time and use them ?
Apparently that's not a worry, he showed himself put his hand in one of these traps on purpose in an earlier video to show it won't lop off fingers like believed.
You could kill all sorts of small game depending on your slingshot, most home mad ones probably could only kill a bird (headshot) and or a squirrel (headshot) but some factory made slingshots could kill a rabbit all the way up to a raccoon all headshots though but with the factory made slingshot you could kill a bird with just a bodyshot and a squirrel
Excellent trap, but in a combat/survival scenario it's eat as u go, this trap would be overkill and would take an additional amount of time & energy to configure.
cool man! i just dislike the fact i actually need to buy some trapping things. i prefer natural items to set up a trap. a lot cheaper ;) however: great job
I've killed more small game with a slingshot than with a rifle. With the proper ammo and placement you could easily kill racoon sized game and smaller, though I don know of a person who's killed deer with a slingshot.
also in order to be sufficient in trapping you must practice it until you master it. lets see you go out and be able to trap things with zero practice.
there istomuch to this way of doing things. first you must kill aofx to even be able to do this. i thought this was about surviving not spending money at a store, then hunting.

One of the best videos on trapping on YT, Thanks Dave!
Just keep at it brother, keep your traps set, and everything the way it should be and keep as many out as you can handle checking. also bait and scent are key. hope this helps. good luck!
Wow I never realized how involved a set like this was, thank you for passing along the knowledge.
Great video, canines are smart animals and your sets usually have to look natural and smell even more natural.
Livin good is back YES.thank you Dave.

I'm really learning a lot from this series. Thanks for your videos!
You can get them from Minnesota Trapline. Look for "Fox Hollow's Super Stakes" about halfway down on the right side of their page.

I like your videos very much but I think every one of us would like to see a catch. Will you be showing the success of any of these sets? Thank You!
I absolutely love that dry land where you come from. Know how in Canada you get the permafrost? Well in Scotland we have the permaswamp. Where you are looks great.
ok I should have just watched the whole video first. nevermind about all my questions. u go into more detail than im used to lol. great video!
Where do I get a small metal sifter like that? Seems like that would be a nice grill to cook on as well...
Could you show us the ending results on the trap ? Just be interesting to see what turns up
@nerb,

Good job Dave, thank you.

im looking at the #1 mink snares on the sight and i was wondering how many i get in the package?

How easy or hard is it to "accidentally" set off the trap while setting it? It looks like it would be easy... let me know please.

Question, would you eat coyote?
Dear dave

From ur #1 fan Ronald Scheffer
Thanks Dave!
Why is that a question? Is there something wrong with them? Diseases?
What is the name of your website?
Very cool!

what makes you think you can give Dave Canturberry advice???
how did you get fox pee?
do a video when you catch something on that same trap set and dispatch it! sort of like a how to..
Apparently that's not a worry, he showed himself put his hand in one of these traps on purpose in an earlier video to show it won't lop off fingers like believed.
dave u ar just the best u should think about tryin to open schools in different countries also were did u get fox urine
I don't know how to use a gun... I am learning how to use a sling shot first. lol what could i kill with that if anything??

Only dave carries poop in a bag, lol thanks for the vids
Love this vids!
i totally agree
cool man! i just dislike the fact i actually need to buy some trapping things. i prefer natural items to set up a trap. a lot cheaper ;) however: great job
sling shots would be safer. I would be scared of setting traps might take off a finger or too.
I've killed more small game with a slingshot than with a rifle. With the proper ammo and placement you could easily kill racoon sized game and smaller, though I don know of a person who's killed deer with a slingshot.
Couldn't the ground hog dig the dirt hole? One less thing to carry.
Thx man
some advice, use gloves when setting traps.
Dave should you not "mark" the trap so noone steps in it?
Randy
Btw awesome video thanks.
also in order to be sufficient in trapping you must practice it until you master it. lets see you go out and be able to trap things with zero practice.
Squirrel or something small

This is HIS property.. If someone get trapped in it.. WHY are they in his property!
Ah HA! thats what the poop was for!
The easiest trap to ever make...
I would follow that man to hell \m/
