    If there is such wide variation in DEXA, can you ever have faith and confidence in the number? I walk daily for 30 years 2M hilly walk most days and started yoga 12 years ago to help rehab from neuro attacks (fibro diagnosed in mid 30's)-doctors don't know what to make of my neuro issues/no MS diagnosis. Attacks are usually provoked by medical things (pharma, surgery, vaccine). At age 61 -2.9 in lumbar spine, -2.6 hip and -2.9 femoral neck on first DEXA. I did fracture my wrist in bad fall on rock hiking last year-fell on knee/chest/wrist. Doctor did not originally see fracture in xray--but later on follow up he said shadow indicated healing and fracture. Have had some other falls since walking on ice/hiking(with poles fell on slippery tree root) but no breaks. I"ve always tried to health my body with food/self care since my diagnosis of fibro in mid 30's. Organic since eary 30's. Always whole food/cooking from scratch. Many diets thorugh the year - blood type O, then weston price minus all the dairy, went gf/df. In past 13 years did high raw vegan a couple of years then vegan, settled on gf/df mediterranean since 2016. Have garden, shop at farmer's markets, get best local foods. Never drank, smoked or took steroids/minimum drugs. I think being more sedentary despite daily exercise set me up and maybe not enough calcium since I've been sedentary despite daily exercise past 13 years. Hard to get enough calcium from just plants each day. I eat mostly plant based, some chicken/fish, rare red meat. Lots of fruit/veg/legumes/nuts seeds. So confused on path forward. Scared to death of drugs given my history of neuro attacks provoked by them and adverse reactions to them. I've worked so hard to heal. Also struggling with hypertension despite normal BMI and my lifestyle. The medications for hypertension make me feel terrible/trying to find one I tolerate. Discouraged.

    I can't say that the Hologic is more reliable or precise than the Lunar, But one should know that there do not give exactly the same results. Essentially the Lunar Bone density testing ddevice gives you a higher bone density readings than the Hologic.

    My doctor wondered why 6 years made such a difference and I moved into osteoporosis in spine. I wonder since I moved from Yale to a facility a litter closer to me if it made a difference. When I followup in 6 months, should I go back to first 2 places at Yale? Would it be better to go to last place? I'm not sure if machines were any different

    I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and protocol is to be treated with anti hormone therapy which will make my osteoporosis worse. I'm sure they will recommend osteoporosis drugs. I just don't with this type of program could be enough when you are not losing bone naturally.

      Estrogen suppressing drugs given for breast cancer can cause considerable bone loss and it is always wise to do are complete better Bones better program right along with a bone drug therapy if that is needed. In my appointments with individuals I help learn how they can better understand their exact situation and make better decisions about their bone health during treatment for breast cancer. Best wishes to you

    Why don’t you discussed what Lilly did to get good results instead of discussing the issue with the machines?

    • @DrSusanBrown
      @DrSusanBrown  2 года назад +2

      HI Alicia! You can read Lilly's full story here: ecs.page.link/UXiST
      After 7 years in our Better Bones, Better Body ® program, Lilly optimized her pH, took all the bone-building nutrients as we suggested, attended to quieting her mind and reducing stress, and walked daily for exercise. Lilly’s efforts paid off and she had great success.
      Over those 7 years that she worked with us, Lilly gained bone density in both the spine and the hip while most women her age would have lost between 3 and 7% of their bone mass.
      Lilly was, however, almost demoralized and derailed by an unknown switch in bone density testing machines- and we want to warn others about this!
