I believe this is the song in the film where “cut”was called and the cast kept right on dancing! Someone will correct me if I’m wrong.
Your right
nope you’re correct :))
Not wrong
Makes sense I wouldn’t stop either flying your flag amazing moment
Your correct it was the last day of production for the film
The culture on display in this song is amazing. I know the controversy and all, but just watching how 4 countries get represented with pride, showing similarities but also slight differences. It gets me genuinely emotional.
Ikr!!! LIKE THE COLOMBIAN SALSA BROO
For real. I’m Mexican American and I saw the movie and when this scene came on and I saw that Mexican flag I wanted to punch the air. I got so emotional lol.
Thing is other flags were also shown in the background besides the Big 4 (DR, PR, Mexico, Cuba).
The “backlash” is so retarded. If we stay occupied with color over culture we all lose. But people will bitch about anything.
@@zaimusic_150 Yup.
You can't ever please everyone.
Lin-Manuel strongly used Latin rhythms throughout the musical.
And songs like this are examples how music filled with love empowers listeners regardless of origin or race.
Latin Music is a perfect mixture of African, European, & Native American cultures throughout Latin America. Because in a era of Racial Division, it’s important to emphasize that love is the answer.
Also love the story written here. The immigrant story, some there are 2nd 3rd generation immigrants yet their roots are on their parents and how to keep your culture. But we all blend in one way or another. In the Paciencia y Fe song that just breaks me because my parents are immigrants and worked those hard jobs. The line: cuando yo me muera entiérrame en mi tierra.
Lin is known to have different styles for each singer. In Hamilton, you can tell the difference intellect and speaking skills by the syllables of each performer. You have people like Hercules Mulligan who rap with very few syllables and old school rhymes, but then Hamilton busts in with these triple and quadruple syllable rhymes.
6:12 That’s Lin-Manuel Miranda. He wrote the original In The Heights broadway musical, where he played Usnavi.
Love it
Hi Jacob! Coquito is a Puerto Rican drink that we make (and sell) around the holidays. Traditionally it has rum, condensed milk, vanilla, coconut milk, and eggs. A Puerto Rican eggnog, if you will. You can leave out the rum if you want! It's just as delicious.
I find egg to be a more optional ingredient depending on where in the island you’re from. I know we nix the egg altogether in my family’s recipe.
@@SandraSaysStuff yeah there's a huge debate when it comes to the egg haha we dont put egg in ours
@@SandraSaysStuff If my titi is making a batch to sell she goes no-egg because it'll last longer. For family Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners though? Always an egg! Though I'll drink coquito any way haha
Skip the egg, but never skip the rum!
@@andreas.4764 Preach!
I think he said East Secaucus, which is a town in New Jersey. It’s across the Hudson River from New York
You’re right.
Lin’s voice has improved so much!
This show (and film) is such a beautiful tribute from Lin to his neighborhood and his people. It touches me every time I listen to the music. Especially this song, I always get chills. Such a wonderful love letter to his culture.
🙏🏼🙏🏼
Coquito is a traditional Puerto Rican drink around Christmas time. Its coconut milk, coconut cream, evaporated and condensed milk, rum and vanilla extract.
Loved this song in the original soundtrack, and it’s AMAZING in the film. Really enjoyed your commentary too. Thank you.
So many songs give me chills but this one....makes me want to be a Latinx in NY (as opposed to a very dull Brit of German descent 😂)
carnaval del barrio means party in the hood
This is for sure my top 3 favorites from this soundtrack!
This is my #1 song from the movie. 98,000 is my #2. 😎
This is a fun song to dance to.
Love this song. Favorite outta the album. :)
Lol, Secaucus is a town in Jersey. Glad I live in Queens ❤
I’m not even Latina but this musical will forever hold something in my heart❤
my favourite track of the ost
Same here.
I saw this movie last night!
I think he said East Secaucus rather than Setauket
yeah it’s east secaucus 😭
Secaucus
He said East Secaucus. It’s a small town. Im from there 😁
Oh lol
AYO Great to see some Northport love! I live in Northport too, and I've been watching your videos for a good while now, and I'm surprised I just learned that today
he said East Secaucus
YASSS!!!
I thought you were doing/finishing up the Broadway cast recording. Great version but from the movie soundtrack.
I’m pretty sure he said East Seacaucus?
Blackout o breathe please
So similar to Eggnog
Lol
