Pretty cool, huh? Some of it’s water fuck it actually most of its water. I can’t even get from here to there without buying a boat. It’s sad. I’m sad. I miss you.
"How did we get here?" and "Why are we here?" are two very different questions that seem to be used interchangeably when they are not the same question at all. One is asking about the origins of life, while the other assumes that there must be some purpose to our existence beyond procreation and the continuation of life.
I've read a very interesting paper lately: Hansma, H. G. (2010). Possible origin of life between mica sheets. Journal of theoretical biology, 266(1), 175-188. It proposes minerals in soils exposed to alternating wet and dry cycles like tidal areas as promising candidates for the origin of life. Personally, I really like the theory described there, especially if you can introduce already existing organic compounds like amino acids from the ocean. Also, keep in mind that the tides were a lot stronger back then, so the tidal areas were most likely much larger than they are to day, providing more chances for life to emerge that way.
The interesting thing about the three possibilities you discuss is that none of them exclude the other two. I suspect that it's possible that all three may have had a part in the process. I suspect that life is likely far more inevitable than we realize.
The problem for complex life in places like Europa is hydro-thermal vents don't provide nearly as much energy as photosynthesis, making it difficult to support the long, complex food-chains we need for more advanced forms of life. So I don't expect anything with high energy demands like sentient life, and most likely life there will have really low metabolism.
Hows the thermal vent hypothesis explain organisms moving away from the vents to other areas since that would require them to move away from their food source? Genuinely curious.
One thing is to assemble molecules in the right conditions to form amino acids, other much more complex is to assemble millions of amino acids in an especiffic order able to codify proteins and form life. The origin of life is a mystery equally or more intriguing than the origin of the universe.
disclaimer: commenting this before seeing the whole video, in fact i only saw the opening sentence. With that out of the way... Where do we come from and Why are we here are two very different questions!!!!
"why are we here" I think in this case means "what's the causality of me being here" or "what happened in such a way that made me being here". im not a native English speaker tho
This really doesnt show WHY but it does show HOW. We will never know WHY there is live. Why would the universe create life in the first place? There has to be a reason why or it wouldnt have happened in the first place. Until we found out the purpose of life or how life benifits the universe we then will find out why we are here.
It's possible that all three of these could have contributed to life on Earth honestly. I don't really count panspermia because it doesn't explain how life actually started, but as I said, it is a possibility.
Nice animations! :) I do think that life on Earth comes from pure chemical reaction happening in a specific environment. Although we can trace an recreate the environment as it was at the time life originated, we are still missing some of the core particles that were involved. More research, more experiments and more time should give an anwser (or not!) at some point. But we need to look not just out in space, but also into the water. We need some hydrid ElonMusk-Cousteau person to take us to the depth of the Oceans... :)
From the sea we came as reptiles then animals evolved originally from fish in the gene pool of life, but some people behave as if they have come from a swamp.
I always think of these things every day. Do we live in a simulation? Do our memories get wiped after we die and we receive in a new body? Or am I the only real one out here and everyone is a robot who will kill me soon?
Where did we come from? Mother earth Where did Mother earth come from? The universe Where did the universe come from? Big bang Where did the big bang come from? God, in other words a creator, Founder. It becomes logical when you think of life, the universe, the whole thing as a game. (At least for those who has developed a game in their life span). I'm not saying/thinking we are in a simulated reality, not my point. My point is, something/someone created us. The rule of cause and effect.
Even if amino acids were formed in a primordial soup, it would be necessary for them to concentrate in a further step and combine spontaneously to form practical molecular chains capable of carrying information. At least 500,000 base pairs are required to produce even the DNA of the simplest bacteria. Cell tissue, cell walls and various mechanisms must be formed simultaneously in order for the cell to be viable from the very beginning.
The simplest bacteria that live now, that still have had millions of years of evolution. For the early life forms you would only need 1. a 'bubble'/cel, 2. RNA, 3. a way for that RNA to copy itself (might use other floating amino acids at first), 4. the abity for that RNA to affect the rest of the cell. Sure that's still a small chance but with so much time and space it's not that far fetched. And the moment you have something resembling life (any self-sustaining (and replicating) system),the game of evolution is on.
My point is: people deny God created the world, instead imagined an evolution theory so they can continue to deny God. But the evolution theory is becoming more and more far fetched. Why? The discovery of the complexity of even the simplest of cells or what Darwin might call a bubble (in fact, Darwin probably did not even have that information) . How does the DNA operate in real life. There is no "junk" DNA as some scientists would call those in their ignorance . The "junk " DNA must govern the different stages of life development and when, where, how all parts of an animal or plant are grown. The evolution theory is fast becoming a fairy tale!
Where did life come from? If matter, where did matter come from? If planets, where did planets come from? If Solar Systems, where did those come from? If galaxies, where did those come from? If the Universe, where did the Universe come from? If other universes, where did those come from? If the "Big Bang" (theory), where did the particles necessary for an expolsion of all matter come from? It's an infinite loop, therefore, there must have been something (or someone) that has always existed. No logic here eh?

TheNonArtist If you think there is more to life than just the physical realm then you are the one who is covering their ears. Think: Evolution is about survival of the fittest, right? Wrong. If that were the case, emotion wouldn't be a thing. Think of the vast number of cases were people die to saved a love one, or kill themselves out of love. Surely, the wheat should have been separated from the chaff long ago! People getting sad when their dog dies, it's nothing more than an inferior animal after all! Without some form of spiritual realm, feelings, emotions, empathy for othera etc make no sense at all, all they do is decrease one's chances of survival and continuation of the bloodline.

I think the issue with trying to how life came about in the first place is that we can't properly define life in the first place.

Does one not realise that a "bubble " cell is more complex than a city, or an airplane? Darwin didn't know that!
Lol, what is your point? Are you trying to deny evolution or something? Like what alternative theory is there with more evidence?
One does not need to deny here. To DENY something implies that "something " is the truth . Darwin's evolution theory is not the truth.
My point is: people deny God created the world, instead imagined an evolution theory so they can continue to deny God. But the evolution theory is becoming more and more far fetched. Why?
