Thank goodness this guide exists and how easy it is to do. As of writing I just managed to remove write protection on my external harddrive from a recovery software that was granted permission. For some reason when i stopped and uninstalled it, it then put the write protection on the drive so I could not for example create new folders, documents and files to it.

I transferred it to an external Orinoco m.2 mini case to make it a massive bootable USB memory stick. The drive was formatable on my 2015 Macbook. But when I connected to windows, it still saw the partitions. I took it to my 3rd Windows laptop computer. Was able to consolidate partitions. Put on my original computer. It was still write protected, although consolidate as one big drive. FINALLY, used your technique and by typing the full “...read only” line, it cleared. THANK YOU! P.s. I still don’t know why this command was not part of the disk manager-GUI? 😁

It worked. I have a 1tb SSD that was read-only and this worked for me. Just follow his tutorial step by step, word for word, and it works. Thanks for the help bro.

This fixed it for me, thank you so much bro. Upgrading my CPU+Motherboard+RAM (or maybe an unsuccessful RAM overclock) seemed to cause some issues with one of my hard drives. This made it work normal again. Do you think this is a sign the drive could be failing though? I've had that specific drive since 2014.

For me it says online instead of read only. But the disk is read only because when i try to download a torrent to d:its says this folder is read only
so BCuz i selected volume it says "no disk selected" after the last command
