    For arc shots the first two land on top the bomb one goes through and detonates on the ground so depending on what you want to hit you can adjust accordingly.
    All 3 can do element and status although focus is much better than wide for basically any situation other than maybe small monster elimination with bomb and focus capable of potentially stunlocking some monsters and element wide and focus seem to consistently land more hits than non element version.

    tbh I am an bow enthusiast, I done all the quest of pokke village, nekhot's quest, and EVEN guild hall quest from low rank to G rank just with that they called the most useless weapon on MHFU... The main reason why I choose bow when I play that game is because I dont want to get "hit", but oh boy Im missunderstanding from the start and get stuck with that weapon along the game....
    But as the time goes, like 500 hours of playing just "bow" in every quest, I really start madly in love with that...jeez I really didn't care of people saying bow is for a losers or wasting your times... Because Im already blind by it...jeez I dont know if Im in the right path or not lol
    By the way, great videos of bow in P3d!! After I hunted the ukanlos with BOW, I might spend another 500 hours with bow in P3rd!!

  • @JohnnyCasey

    減 - decreased, shrunken
    氣 - power, condition, stamina, etc.
    値 - value, number
    So 減氣値 would roughly be 'The value of decreasing someone's stamina'_ --- in other words, KO, yes.
    I don't think this particular word is used anywhere outside of MH series. Funnily enough, the word 減氣 pronounces the same as 感氣(which is cold as in illness, flu) in korean language, so most people's impression was something that makes the monster to cough.

    The hardest thing of being a gunner generally imo, is picking what armor to use. I always feel that bows and bowguns require more of mix of different armor compared to the blademaster weapons.
    Maybe a tutorial on what armor to use for gunner weapons would be nice?

    • @HeadHunter455
      @HeadHunter455  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah! I'd like to make a video covering all of the armor in MHFU, it's a pretty long project of mine, but as for p3rd, the current plan is to get the armor sets from the monsters, and explain how they could be useful. If you watch my main guide videos for monsters I include a section at the end talking about the armor, like how royal ludroth armor is good for water element bows and stuff.
      Also, if I ever use a bow for a hunt, I'll be including some armor set that would help with it, of course 🙂

  • @sansclone1874
    @sansclone1874 4 месяца назад +1

    And yeah among all of this, as specified in Hunter's magazine from Freedom Unite, since the number of ammunition are limited, you should bring the ammo's ingredients as well. So you could craft it mid-hunt. This is why some of the Gunner Set have Combo + skill.

    • @HeadHunter455
      @HeadHunter455  7 месяцев назад +2

      Hey, I'm glad to hear it! 😄 I've always said pick any weapon that speaks to you in some way, whether you think it looks fun or cool or looks like it's effective or does a lot of damage, anything that draws you to *some* weapon, follow that feeling first, and you can figure out the rest later. You can, and should eventually, always use the other weapons later on.

    One thing I feel hampers ranged play in gen 3 is the lack of crit shake that was added in 4. That helps a lot at naturally figuring out crit range. Also gen 4 introduced more aiming options.

    • @HeadHunter455
      @HeadHunter455  4 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, that's fair, figuring out critical distance has always been a little confusing, the screen shake really helps, and then 5th gen just added it to the reticle, which is also great.

  • @fesimco4339
    @fesimco4339 Месяц назад +1

    I just went after an Uagaan in MHP3rd with the Stoutbow II 225 dmg with attack +2 decoration and I cant kill it within the time limit, something I can do with Hammer Lance and longsword, no trouble. Is Uragaan just resistant to bow or am I doing something wrong?

    • @HeadHunter455
      @HeadHunter455  Месяц назад

      Well, yes, kind of. First of all, the attack decoration won't do anything unless it's helping your overall attack skill reach a certain threshold, being 10, 15, or 20, any amount that in in between those values won't be giving any more of an effect. More info for that here: ruclips.net/video/7iIKw0NYlGM/видео.html
      The average damage Uragaan takes from bow is actually lower than both impact and cutting, with impact being very slightly better than cutting.
      Keep in mind for ranged weapons you really want to take advantage of elemental weaknesses, in this case he's weakest to water, followed by dragon.
      There's two ways I'd consider fighting Uragaan with bow, not having tested it at all, you can either use a pierce water bow and aim for his stomach, his weakest spot for every damage type, or you can try using a rapid shot bow and hit his head.
      Uragaan's gimmick is that his head has a very low hitzone UNTIL it's broken, and then it'll be the second best hitzone. The way you want to go about breaking his head is by using the water element. Dragon can be an alternate element to use as well, dealing the same amount of damage as water to his stomach, and actually doing more damage than water once his head is broken, though water will do more damage before his head is broken.
      Hopefully that makes sense. I've covered how melee damage works in MHFU here: ruclips.net/video/OLPqJSOASuA/видео.html
      Most of the information is applicable to MHP3rd, though you'll have to keep in mind that some things aren't, such as weapon damage bloating, since P3rd doesn't bloat its damage values, fortunately, and in the case of ranged weapons, sharpness.
      Good luck!! Remember you can also bring items to help beat him more effectively, bombs could potentially help break his head faster, and traps can keep him in place. Pitfall traps are more effective, initially lasting ~20 seconds where shock traps last ~10 seconds, though that duration will go down each time you do it, and it will last longer when he's exhausted, if you can trap him then.

    • @fesimco4339
      @fesimco4339 Месяц назад +1

      @@HeadHunter455 First, thanks for the in depth answer and I haven't paid attention to threshold values at all. As the game gets harder I really should do that. Elemental damage on bows though? I have no idea what you mean, are the bows themselves elemental or are there some items you buy? I cant see any element on the bow stats.

    • @HeadHunter455
      @HeadHunter455  Месяц назад

      Hey no problem! 🙂
      Yeah, bows will have elemental damage just like melee weapons, unlike Bowguns which will fire elemental shots.
      For example, the Zinogre bow, "Usurper's Rumble I" has 150 Raw Damage and 23 Thunder damage.
      You should also be using power coatings whenever you intend to deal damage, and if you need to, you'll want to bring materials and the book of combos to make more if you start running out.
      Bows should definitely be taking advantage of elemental damage due to how it works. Basically, faster attacking weapons will utilize elemental damage more because it deals, sort of, a "flat" amount of element damage.
      For example, a GS is obviously slower than a SNS, we'll say you can do one slash and sheathe in the same time it takes you to do four with SNS, if they both did 10 elemental damage (of any type, this is just an example) then the GS would have done 10 elemental damage, and the SNS would have done 40.
      There's a little more to it than that, but hopefully that explains it well enough 🙂
      Using bow, focusing on elemental weaknesses and really building for your own element against them, using skills and such, should really help you deal more damage and make hunts not take so long.

  • @lllppeverywhere
    @lllppeverywhere 2 месяца назад

    Very useful guide for beginners, appreciate the effort, time and research put into it. I'll add some more useful tips if you don't mind, it might be long so beware if you don't like reading
    The Arch Shots Spread and Wide are good for applying status ailments since it hits a lot in a short amount of time, and it adds exhaust damage to the monsters so it's really useful to use it whenever you can, it can also make a monster flinch, like a lot (you can try it on Rathalos using Zinogre's Bow, it's kinda funny. Especially if it's flying. It's a good way to bent your anger after killing it for the 100th time and still no Plate drop) but your main source of damage still comes from your Level 3 Charge Shots so it's still your priority move
    The back hops to determine your critical distance tends to be used a lot as a visual example to know how much distance is needed for different shot types. But in a real hunt, you almost never do it since not only it's impractical since the monster is moving constantly, resetting your critical distance, it's also a waste of stamina, and stamina is like a lifeline to Bows. So one way to know if you're in a critical distance is by looking at the sparks when the arrow hits the monster. Try shooting very far or very close, and you'll see the spark effect at about almost none to small sparks, but if you're in a critical distance, the spark is really big, so you can shoot one to test your distance and if the sparks are small, adjust accordingly, since you now know your position is bad, that's one way to know other than you basically just get used to it that it's already second nature to you now to just know you're in a critical distance. Close range coating negates your problem with critical distance, as the name suggests, even if you're in point blank, your shots will always be in a critical distance, so it's a good thing to have. Also not entirely useful, but still good to know, your melee arrow attack have a sharpness, and it's green by default, but having close range coating applied, it turns into blue sharpness. In MH4U onwards, it becomes easier to know if you're in a critical distance, if your screen shakes, you're doing it right
    Scatter and Pierce are a bit situational, especially the Pierce, to the point that some Bow Users avoids it overall. Since the arrow from Pierce travels straight, and if you're not in the most perfect position despite being in a critical distance, only the first few hits will get the critical distance, and the rest won't since it's already too far, so you lose the overall damage. That said, still feel free to use it on large monsters, some monsters gets melted by it. But if you're having a hard time choosing which shot types to go for, you can almost never go wrong with Rapid, it works on almost everything
    Don't hesitate to cancel your shots by rolling or back hopping if you think your shot is not going to make it or in a bad position. Your coatings are limited, so every shot counts. Same for your stamina, so don't charge your shots while catching a monster that is very far
    This is just a personal opinion, but paralyze coatings are just not worth it in solo unless that monster is really susceptible to paralyze. Since you'll spend time trying to paralyze a monster, and if you did then apply power coatings to continue shooting for maximum damage, the monster is already out of paralyze or almost out of it by the time the applying coatings animation is done, then you'll start having an existential crisis, thinking about the time spent paralyzing it should've just gone to you shooting normally with power coatings from the start, totally not speaking from experience. Sleep bombing on the other hand though...

      @@HeadHunter455 i just wanna know how many coating needed to give status abnormal to the monster (para, pois, sleep, exhaust) because sometimes it feel quick, sometimes i ran out of coating and the monster still dont get status abnormal.

    • @HeadHunter455
      @HeadHunter455  7 месяцев назад

      It's gonna depend on a lot of different variables unfortunately, that's part of what makes ranged weapons so tricky to cover.
      If you check the description you'll see a lot of status values and multipliers, they're relevant to your question, basically you take the status value and multiply it by your relevant multiplier (poison has a different multiplier than sleep & paralysis), after that, you'll need to know what the build up requirements are for the monster you're hunting.
      This is why I said most players probably use LBG for status gunning, since for them, each status bullet does like 25 or 50 buildup, but bows require a lot more math, AND you have to make sure all of your arrows hit.
      If you really want to know how many shots it'll take, you should go into the hunt with the gear you want to test, and hit them with the status coatings until the status activates, then write it down somewhere. Without doing math (and even then you'd probably want to test it) that's the only way to know for sure.
      Also, remember that every 5 or 10 seconds the monster will recover from your status ailment by 5 or 10 points, im not too sure the exact values. So if you take too long in between shots, you'll need to hit it with more than you normally would.

    lol you don't want to use bow with great jaggi, and you def don't want to use pierce shot. he should have done a deviljho with thunder bow :) it's so satisfying to shoot a pierce shot right through that big dumb dragon. or it's fun to use thunder shot to shoot a rathalos out of the air. i think he doesn't play multiplayer so he won't know the power of bow in mhp3rd. yes you can flinch your team, but there is a flinch skill. in mhp3rd bow is really powerful, because melee players will hit each other, but bow can stand in back and hit consistent damage while not bothering anyone, while also using status effects. also bows can break parts that are harder to reach for other weapons
