@Gore Dimov Smilodon populator was the most robust cat that ever lived. Similar to that of a bear if Smilodon was still alive it would annihilate any tiger or any of today's big cats. And fossils showed that Smilodon populator can pierce the skull of other Smilodons so their teeth were not that weak.
@@mohdzainlone Do you have a source to back that up?? And why would their skulls be weaker than their teeth when the skull is made to protect it in fights that makes no sense. Second of all Smilodon was definitely not "weak" as their front limbs were so robust that they were mistaked for a species of bear. Smilodon was capable of wrestling down large prey like bison just using its front limbs. It went extinct because the larger animals that it regularly preyed on died out due to climate change not because they were outcompeted but the exact reason why they went extinct is unknown.
Interestingly even in this video, the animated smilodon could not open its mouth as wide, that it could bite with this long teeth. So it means, nobody can imagine (even in an animated video), how they really used their long teeth.

It still is the king, in a way that no other modern wild cat still hasn't outclassed it in, well, everything. These guys had it all. 😏 Well, almost. They also hunted much bigger and heavier prey (such as mammoths) and were rivals to American lions and dire wolves and were American equivalents to Ngandong tigers and Eurasian cave lions. They were also much more aggressive and vicious back then. Especially the Populator specie, which lived in South America.
