19 goals is the most number of goals scored in a playoffs.
If Tkachuk gets 20 he’ll get the Conn Smythe.
But Bobrovsky could win the Conn Smythe even if Florida doesn’t win the Cup.

And seriously. Bob was nuts against Carolina.

And you want a 30something Huberdeau? He left Calgary because he wanted to play in the US, a country where he’ll pay lower taxes and have a better chance to win. The same thing would have happened in Vancouver. Do Huberdeau and Weeger make the Canucks that much better? Tkachuk wanted out, so Calgary was lucky to get much of anything in return. The problem the Canucks would have faced would have been different, but let’s not pretend Tkachuk would have wanted to stay in Vancouver for his prime years either. Until a Canadian team wins the Cup, it won’t just be American players wanting to play south of the border.

That being said, Bill Zito had an opportunity for another franchise pillar type player in Tkachuk and took it. Very bold move and it may be paying off. Also I believe that move got rid of some complacency that had crept in the organization that regular season wins were good enough. Wish Hubby and Weegar the best as I got to see them grow up but this year it’s Tkachuk’s year as a player. Conn Smythe after tonight is probably Tkachuk’s if Panthers win. The trade is now an all time robbery for Florida. They won their first championship in franchise history this year. The Panthers have Barkov and Tkachuk signed until 2030. It wouldn’t surprise me if Florida takes a step back in 2024-25 because they have played so many more games than anyone else over the last two seasons. They had a run to the finals in 2023 (lost to VGK in five games) and then won it all in 2024. Two short off seasons in a row might have a negative effect on them.

I dont blame Calgary for the trade. When a guy wants a trade it really puts the GM on the hot seat to find that perfect deal. This happens a lot a deal looks lopsided at one point in time...ie when Florida signed the deal it was thought they gave too much and now Tkachuk can do no wrong. It will probably flip again if Florida loses in the final and Calgary has a bounce back year or some other scenario...

Bob for conn smythe, it’s close but I feel when a goalie is lights out there is no way a regular forward or defenseman can equal the value of a goaltender at the peak of his game. I.E. the panthers would not have been in any of those overtime games without bobrovsky. Tkachuk is a beast but in hockey a goalie is mvp if they are playing like bob.

Bob was someone they were desperately trying to get rid of him. Bob, worth every penny, has a helmet paint job straight out out of a videogame…just the team logos because in Bob’s mind, it’s not about him, it’s only about the team.

Brad Treliving's worst move as Flames GM is choosing to give only a bridge deal to Tkachuk so that Michael Frolik could stay on the team (now not even in the league). Matthew Tkachuk saw the disrespect and pure idiocy on display, said "suit yourself, buddy" and wanted out. I am so glad he is doing as successful as he is, just to prove what an idiot Brad Treliving is for not valuing him as he should have.

Only because in a history of outstanding goaltending performances, this I think is probably the best I have ever seen. Not just solid goaltending but extraordinary goaltending. And his calmness has helped keep his team on course. I would have to think that this would rank right up there with things like the 1971 Ken Dryden performance, or the Tretiak performance in 72. His numbers are incredible among those with incredible numbers.

I argued with my friends when this trade was made. I claimed it was a huge win for the panthers. But I had no idea it would show so soon. I expected a slightly weaker roster this year but a huge win in the long run. The reason being Huberdeau will have a cap hit of 10m at 38. Both Huberdeau and Weegar had inflated point totals in a Panthers system that had no defence aswell. Monty and Forsling stepping up made the loss of Weegar alot easier. Go Panthers!
