Canes fan here... I know we have an EXCELLENT team.. Even without Svech and Patches, we are still deserving of being where we are right now, and as you state in the video, over time these expected goals would even out, and at that point things may be different... BUT... this isn't that point, and Bobrovsky is playing like a Marvel superhero right now... I've never seen anything like it.. something like a .990 (or some such) over the last 2 games? Unreal performance, and even as a Canes fan, I have no choice but to tip my cap to the man (and the team), and say go win it all (unless of course we can find some miracle of a way to advance)!

The glove save is the perfect example - he didn't move his glove because his angle and position was perfect. When everyone criticized him for not helping out for the money that he was signed for.But he alone could not help out against the offenses of other teams without the help of their own D-line. Now in this playoff we see that the defenders help their goalie, and the goalie becomes self-confident, therefore his professional qualities become even stronger than they were and he starts to help out at important moments when the D's make a mistakes and we all who are watching from sides are surprised at these moments.. except with the same players in front of him he was out played by Spencer Knight, Chris Drieger, and Alex Lyon. Only until this playoff run was there any spark of consistency in his game. Even in these games he still is giving up 3 goals or more. Carolina tappered off and the goals against went down. Hey got paid millions of dollars to do this all the time regardless of who is in front of him. If you don't think he was out played by them then look at each other and the back up goalies to see they were a goals against lower and usually about 30 to 40 points in save percentage above him. ALEX LYON WON SIX STRAIGHT GAMES WITH THIS TEAM! The bounces are going his way and the entire team is pulling together. If he gives up 3, they score 4. If he gives up 5, they score six or 7. To say you had faith in him this entire time makes me go did you not watch him for the last few years giving up soft goal after soft goal?

It's so frustrating as a Canes fan. Even with Svech and Patches injured I don't think they make much of a difference in a series like this where the goalie has gone Super Saiyan. Through 3 games it feels like the guys have done everything right but aren't being rewarded for their efforts. They put in so much effort to break down that solid Florida defense, which they do several times a game, only to shoot at what feels like a brick wall. I honestly believe the skaters on the ice for both teams are playing dead even both offense and defense but Florida is gaining that slight edge from their goaltending. Everyone is talking about how Florida is putting up a defensive clinic but Carolina's D has also played lights out only allowing 6 goals on 103 shots in 14 periods of play. We've broken down the Florida defense countless times yet, barring the flukey goal to start game 2, the only time we can score is on the Power Play - the only time where Bobrovsky can be caught out of position. All the respect to Bob though, he's found another gear and if he keeps playing like this there's really no doubt in my mind that Florida will cruise to a Cup. Nobody left in the playoffs has an answer for what he's doing. He beat a historic Boston team, the 2nd place team Carolina and a solid team in Toronto - all while his team was outshot in 11/13 games he's played in.

Binnington was lights out for the Blues 4 years ago, but only in some games. He had some real clunkers in that run as well. I cite Binnington as a Cup winning example to show the contrast, because Bobrovsky has been great in every game.

He gets paid $10 million to cover a 6x4 foot patch if you don't think he has that thing mapped out down to near scientific accuracy from every angle and situation you're a hopeless goof

Bobrovsky on the other hand has lots of playoff experience, and he's comfortable enough to come in clutch when he needs to.

Bob is definitely on another level, but Florida as a team has done a great job limiting the high danger chances (especially prior to Barkov's injury early in game 3) while capitalizing heavily on their own high danger chances despite the shot disparity. Shots on goal are not all created equal, after all.
This is why you pay goalies the big bucks. It just so happens that Bob has finally gotten to show with us why we made moves to get him. The cardiac cats are alive and well, and it's awesome to see after so little success throughout the franchise's short history.
