Would you see in the future that Malaysia will be scooter, skateboard and cycling friendly? I remember skateboarding to uni everyday in Sydney, Australia.
There is always hope 😂 but honestly... Malaysia is very safe to do those activities is just the roads and terrain and weather makes it hard to skate scoot or cycle to work... And offices have no bath facility. I remember I use to cycle and even roller blade to school too but it was dangerous because it was 8km away and hilly terrain and I have to skate on roads shared by traffic... I guess really depends if u r willing to rough it out... To be same with other countries... Not in the near future because Malaysia have some things to resolve... But the Malaysian people are courteous by default so the people are ready.
I think a highway especially tolled highway is for motor vehicles only. Hence a cyclist is not allowed to ride on highway. Same goes to pedestrian is not allowed to walk on foot.
Hi, Sorry I'am bad at English , Can i ride bicycle in motorcycle lane and pesdestrian lane(walkway beside road)? And also can i install both reflective Front White Light and Rear Red Light that wont light itself instead of the battery one? 🙏
Heya ur English is fine.. You can cycle motorbike lane but Not pedestrian walk way. Reflective lights are fine... But again... If a police should stop u just listen and don't argue... Usually nothing happens... Better get a battery light if possible... MR DIY very cheap LOL
Mandatory helmets in NZ and Australia killed cycling. Keep it voluntary pls👍 ...also FYI no helmet on the market today can save you from concussion only non major injuries. I crashed at low speed and no injuries but still a concussion...just my experience✌️
That is a good question..... Usually u need to follow the trunk roads... Away from Expressway ... As those you are not allowed to cycle... Certain highways are OK...
Hi Zijeat, it is mandatory to still bring your IC because there is always the chance that a law emforcement officer can ask you to show your IC. It is then an offence when you cannot produce your IC.
Guess like what leesh said just comply jher and when in court hope the judge is leniant... Don't get into an argument with the enforcer... Nanti lagi teruk.
Hahaha stray I dun think got any fine kot... Law states must cycle with 2 hands on the bar... But believe that means cannot cycle while holding an object throughtout the ride... But occasional water drink shud be fine depends on court I suppose... But very grey... Especially since the law is 1959 😅
What would be against the law is a fixie bike used on the road and if it doesn’t have brakes at the front and rear wheel. So if you ride the fixie brakeless and on the road, yah, this would break the law under the Road Traffic Rules.
Nope... No permit needed... Unless u r organising an event... But if it's just cycling casual in a group not needed... Just avoid expressway or roads with tolls as usually those roads have no cycling sign boards.
Arent cyclists considered pedestrians? In other words, cant they be used on footpaths because bicycles are not considered vehicles, and the article only references a law regarding vehicles? Edit: After doing my own research, im not sure what to think. According to Malaysia Road Traffic Rules, 1959: Vehicles arent allowed on footpaths. The only exceptions are vehicles for disabled people, prams for babies, or any toy vehicle driven by a child under 12. According to ROAD TRANSPORT ACT 1987 ―vehicle means a structure capable of moving or being moved or used for the conveyance of any person or thing and which maintains contact with the ground when in motion; That sounds like a done deal right? But I have a few problems with this. 1. This means that things like travel suitcases, wheelbarrows, or anything that moves but maintains in contact with the ground is considered a vehicle. So are all tourists who walk around with their travel suitcases essentially criminals? What about the auntie that is just bringing home groceries in her pull bag? 2. These 2 statements come from entirely different documents. The Malaysia Road Traffic Rules, 1959 document doesnt specify what are vehicles. And while Road Transport Act 1987 does specify what are vehicles, they do not explicitly deny bicycles access to footpaths. 3. I havent been to malaysia in a long time, but Im pretty damn sure there are a ton of people who just ride their bikes everywhere and anywhere, including footpaths. In fact, Ive heard that bicycles can go on footpaths from more people, than Ive heard that bicycles cant, this video and the article the video references being the only time Ive heard that bicycles are not allowed on footpaths. 4. Most places in the world allow bicycles on footpaths. Id find it surprising that Malaysia would be one of the few countries that are so cautious of traffic safety, considering that 99% of the people on the road arent.
@@melvintanchannel By that logic, a wheelbarrow is considered a vehicle. Also by that logic, skateboards, wheelchairs, inline skates are not allowed to be on footpaths since theyre considered vehicles.

U r right... Just last month a cyclist in Malaysia with a usd300 helmet crashed and had a concussion and was hospitalised for a few days...
Without a helmet, it could have been worse

Is it mandatory to bring a IC with us while cycling?
Hi Zijeat, it is mandatory to still bring your IC because there is always the chance that a law emforcement officer can ask you to show your IC. It is then an offence when you cannot produce your IC.
Hahaha ic should be with you even when you go public toilet... 😂
How are the roads to cycle compared to Indonesia?
I've never had the chance to cycle in Indonesia.... But I would guess like all countries there are some good roads and bad roads... Lol
WCE Expressway has digital and physical signs showing cycling is not allowed in the highway😢. Sad as the views are beautiful.
Yea lo... Perhaps they should allow cyclist from 6am to 9am weekend 😂😂😂😂😂
Does the rear lights have to be red?
Yup checked with leesh red light is a must
Im 11 so is it allowed to cycle to my bike to my school its 3km away
