@@Jobe_ if it is it's really dumb imo, Meg, Rhamp, Thal are already semi aquatic so they become obsolete. Sad that it just misses Styra, Metri and Hatz :/
That's because of stupid ability/moves descriptions like this that I am thinking for a moment that just showing the power value of the attacks would've been WAY better than "does low/medium/high damage", even if it breaks even more the immersion into the realistic dinosaur survival game genre, I mean, with hp and ability system, and quest system forced in order to grow in official servers, this game has shown to be FAR from the pure realistic dino game concept than The Isle is for example. Thanks you man for doing this, you're helping us PoT players a lot. And saving us a lot of time doing research on getting the Dino's stats, ability effects/dmg, comparing them togheder, to THEN see who's the most viable/what are the matchups of each dino...
Glad it helped! 100% agree with you, I HATE the "low/medium/high" damage descriptors. The actual damage number would be SO much more helpful on the abilities
I really appreciate all the editing you did, it was well worth the effort! All the visual comparisons really helped my brain. Don’t know how you managed to organize it so well 🤯
Good production! Yeah I main the achillo, enjoyed the cruel swipe for a bit but claw attack is much more versatile and yes probably overpowered... The 3s cooldown with high dmg is a bit unfair, when mixed with running circles around your prey
This is top notch stuff! I’m so glad you are making these types of videos, it’s very important for our community to understand what skills are doing what, since Alderon for some reason doesn’t update skill descriptions regularly when they make changes. And even without changes having skills being completely misleading. Thanks for taking the time to test damage and keep us informed, so we can adjust our Dinos accordingly. Cheers 😌
My guess for the reason piercing bite and stab say “low damage” is that it has a lower damage value, with dasps heavy bite having a higher damage value. If piercing bite calculated combatweight and armor like the other bites, it would do a pathetic amount of damage. If an attack like heavy bite were to ignore combatweight and armor like piercing bite, then it would most certainly one shot even a Barsboldia. This is shown with your Deinonychus example, as piercing bite did less than the other two bites. Technically I think piercing bite’s description is correct, but I do agree, your wording is much better.
Very logical reasoning, but it actually has the highest damage number of all dasp's abilities... Piercing bite does 150 damage. Heavy bite does 120 and default does 70. Path of Titans just makes no sense lol
Seems a lot of those descriptions are of or even wrong. Seen another video saying that certain buffs from skins, for example, are not doing anything or have way less impact. Like giving 5% boost instead of 10% as the buff might state.
Absolutely, that's why I mentioned there will probably be sequels to this video. There are some subspecies that do absolutely nothing when they claim to do something, as well as passive abilities, etc. I covered a few wrong description abilities in another video last week, but there are so many that I need more videos lol
I have a couple for you. Ano's 2 hunker down abilities. I like using the one where you're still able to move. Especially while questing, in case of an ambush attack. I had someone tell me the other one is better. I'm guessing they meant defense wise?? I'd rather be able to move and not be starved/thirsted out. Second: the raptor strike and the regular bite. In comments on other videos, I have heard people on both sides saying that so and so is better. Console doesn't have a PTB either from what I've seen. Kinda wish someone would make a baby fighting server with just babies. I go to team death match and PVP servers and hold my own. But then I go back to officials feeling like a bad ass until I realize: Oh yeah, I'm not an adult anymore. So it really doesn't help much. Every time I play a larger herbie, I feel I'm just out here giving away free "kill an herbivore" quests. Make the babies faster--something.
Yeah, I would say hunker down is far more useful. While being able to move sounds nice, you can only moved while crouched, and anything large will just rip you to shreds. Hunker down’s damage reduction is so huge, you can just sit there and face tank a rex. For raptor strikes, it really depends on which dino you’re talking about using it. For large herbs (and large carnis too), if you aren’t careful/positioned well, you do just become a walking target. Even if you do play well, there’s a high chance of a group of other large Dinos coming up and killing you. Not much you can do at that point, that’s why I prefer to stick to agile mid tiers most of the time
I believe a desc rework was mentioned in a recent devblog, but they definately need to add more clear descriptions for multiple moves, it can be quite vague sometimes and lacks consistency between multiple species.
Right? There are a bunch of abilities with wonky descriptions in this game. I have another video up that goes over 9 that just have flat out wrong descriptions entirely
Btw Piercing Bite does not always do a flat 45 damage because while it does ignore combat weight and armor. Abilities like Evil Eye, Tough Beaks, and Panicking Sprint do reduce its damage so do keep that in mind as they are damage reduction abilities and not armor.
Well yes, it still gets headshot multipliers as well. But it doesn’t factor armor or size which is why I said flat rate. Also, it’s base damage is 150, not 45
I want to say something about dasp bite and any armor piercing bite, it says low damage but ignores combat weight and armor, this wouldn't mean anything to the average player, but if you know anything about the stats of dinosaurs then you realize why this description makes sense, combat weight and armor reduce the amount of damage dealt if you are a smaller dinosaur, and they increase if you are bigger. Dasps piercing bite only does 30? Or something like that but due to the piercing it goes up to about 100. It makes sense, it is just worded a bit wierd
This is actually incorrect. Someone else already said pretty much the same thing so I'll paste my reply here: Very logical reasoning, but it actually has the highest damage number of all dasp's abilities... Piercing bite does 150 damage. Heavy bite does 120 and default does 70. Path of Titans just makes no sense lol. Note: Deinon has 500 hp. In my video, you can see piercing hits for about 1/3 of its health. Since deinon has 500 hp, therefore a 150 damage bite would actually kill it in 3.3 hits (which lines up with the footage I shot). At 30 damage, a piercing bite would take 16.66 hits to kill a deinon.
Oh I don’t play much lamb, but I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to make your walk (not run) speed 20% faster for a bit (out of combat only). Not sure it’s super useful. Best case use I could see would be to make an eo or other large herb walk faster for a bit
@@Khanware I tried testing it and it literally doesn't change the speed whatsoever in walk or run I'm confused, I think it might be busted. But thanks 👍🏼
Well… that could very well be true. That’s what it’s supposed to do though, lol. There are a lot of abilities and passives that just don’t work at the moment, unfortunately
The nerf that is upcoming is a damage nerf (from 90 to 70 I believe). It’s claw attack currently has a 3 second cool down I believe, I’m not sure it its cooldown got nerfed
