  • Not my best weekend in formula F1000 Championship at Brands Hatch circuit. Three more rounds, great track, a lot of speed and problems.

      Racing is stressful making tiny adjustments each time to learn to go faster is a lot of work. Trying to achieve perfection knowing you will never be perfect but to strive to be is overwhelming

    Holy shit what a touch!!! I wouldn’t blame myself too much if I were you, there was a car shaped spot on that apex and I know what I would have done 😂 great that Billy was okay and you can have a rematch on track! I thought the incident was going to come from the yellow car after how close he was lunging!

      Of course racing involves certain risks in general, but we should keep always in mind, that we race open wheels, it's not the same as saloons in terms of safety. Well, experience I guess.

    The guy left you no room, although you might have been in his dead angle of his rear view mirror... but that's also an awareness thing... he must have known PRIOR that you were there when he could see you earlier.
    Mistakes happen, but safety is important when racing and checking your blindspots as much as you can (yes, I'm aware of the limited visibility and g-forces when cornering), but better safe than sorry.
    Especially when you're on a tight budget (you're probably not, don't know if he is, but still).

    • @here2race
      @here2race  Год назад

      Yeah, I think we both could do better in this situation. And you are right about safety. But in racing, you often are not super reasonable because of adrenaline, pressure and excitement of the fight.

    • @youtubemodsaresnowflakelef7692
      @youtubemodsaresnowflakelef7692 Год назад +1

      @@here2race Oh yeah. It didn't go THAT badly, luckily.
      Although I was wondering about that, some of those tracks don't seem to have lots of safety features. I do see areas with LOTS of run off, but then there's areas where the barriers are really close to the track.
      And while the chassis is based on Formula Ford, I don't want to imagine what a head one crash would do at one of those spots with a chassis like that.
      In Formula Ford at least they sometimes put up inflatable extra barriers at some spots where you can hit the barriers at higher speeds. And FF is quite a bit slower than F-1000.

    • @here2race
      @here2race  Год назад

      @@youtubemodsaresnowflakelef7692 Well, it is true about lack of safety features on some (mostly older) tracks. At the same time it is funny that these older tracks like brands hatch or oulton park are much more interesting and exciting to drive than much more modern and safer tracks like silverstone. Not saying this a rule, just observation from drivers perspective. :)

      It is difficult to see behind you in a single seater.
      Obviously you can’t look behind and mirrors are very small.
      Lots of vibration too so you might not get a clear picture and this can also make things come loose!

      while he was left no space, the rotating of the car pushing out wide clipping him was something that could have been avoided. Its hard when battling but its a 2 party incident (with 41 being slightly more responsible if we were to point fingers

    Great video. I know how hard it is to make a video after a weekend like that...😢🤯
    Did the CoC call you up after the incident, and was any action taken?

    • @here2race
      @here2race  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, it was not the easiest video. But I tried to be honest.
      And I was called to race control yes, but without looking at my onboards they just thanked me for stopping immediately to help the other driver. There are plenty of marshals at Druids, so I guess they had enough information.

  • @Str8representing

    It wasnt a racing incident. You're clearly holding your line and he is squeezing you. While there is room for you to go more to the outside edge of the kerb, you're not obliged to do it. But of course it's better to do and give him way than get into a crash, as you never know how the crash turns out.

    Love your videos and really want to race these one day. Just wondering how often are you changing tyres? Trying to work out weekend costs for a owner driver and hard to find so far.

    • @here2race
      @here2race  3 года назад +2

      Thanks mate! About tyres - I use new set for one race meeting (quali + 2/3 races) and next prerace testing day. So basically one set for one meeting + Friday. Technically you can use them longer but they are not very fast.

  • @search4orlife

    Hi, after an exhilarating few months I have bought an F1000. As you have consistently proved to be a great you tuber I have a few questions. How many sets of tyres did you use per weekend? If you were to race only three race tracks in season which ones would they be? Many thanks Josh

    • @here2race
      @here2race  8 месяцев назад

      You have bought yourself huge fun, Josh, Congrats! For the weekend I used old tires from last round for Friday practice, and then new set for qualification and 2 or 3 races, what's left goes to next weekend practice. So one set of tires per weekend. You can use used ones longer, but it will affect performance noticeably. 2 sets per weekend would be perfect, but costly.
      From tracks I've been to in UK I would choose Oulton Park, Brands Hatch and Donington Park.

  • @gcraib

    Not a racing incident.
    You were on the inside and he turned into you, leaving you nowhere to go.
    His fault.
    Noticed a yellow guy earlier, same corner I think also moved towards you and you had to avoid him.
    I think you were on the outside approaching turn 2 and he moved towards you.
    It’s not easy to see behind you in a single seater but that’s what mirrors are there for.

    • @here2race
      @here2race  7 месяцев назад +1

      You are right, probably, but still most of the time, it's better to lift and try to attack again later than to crash being right. Also its difficult to think rational in the race, so I try not to blame anyone if only its not obviously intentional, because I do make mistakes myself sometimes being in the red mist.

  • @leithmurray736

    How many times over the years has this occurred,most of this could be solved in all open wheel vehicles.
    Wheel covers and side intrusion bars

    • @here2race
      @here2race  8 месяцев назад

      Well, I saw similar collisions a couple of times over two years in open wheels, and none harmed drivers btw. So, not so often, but it is relative, of course. Sure, it can be solved with some sort of wheel covers, but it won't be open wheels anymore. :) I see it more as a feature than as a bug, if you understand what I mean. :)

    Is your f1000 paddle shift like higher end formula racing or traditional shifting

    • @here2race
      @here2race  Год назад

      Well, it has sequential gearbox from sports bike, with lever not paddle shift. So it's more advanced than formula vee, ford, etc, but much simpler than f4 (not so much slower though). :) But I wouldn't call it high end honestly.
