For those comparing the Blade3 to different products in completely different markets, here are some of the devices in its niche. All have different power levels and I/O and all have a advantages and disadvantages for different deployments: Firewalla: amzn.to/4dZf8b3 (affiliate) Zima Board 832: amzn.to/453jNVu (affiliate) CWWK X86 P5amzn.to/3V2RVvV (affiliate)
I've tried 30+ SBCs in the last six years running x86, RISC-V, and ARM. I buy the raspberry pi for the support. I don't have to worry about if the OS will be supported and what compatibility my peripherals and software will have. Most of the time I just want to plug and play which is where most of these devices fall down.
It’s not really priced for power. It’s priced fine for the market it’s in which is low power edge device with dual 2.5gb and the extra I/O. If you’re not using it for that, then yeah you’d be overpaying.
I mentioned at the end if you don’t have the need for x2 2.5gb NICs or 16GB of memory, then go with a raspberry pi and recommend a budget server video I made for the pi4
Well, you did mention the Orange Pi 5. I recall when that launched I purchased 2 of the 8GB models for $175. This board is selling the 4GB model for $229.00. At least that's what the charges were for the 4GB model in my shopping cart at checkout. No accessories or even a power supply. Some might pay that price, but for me I think it's a bit over priced based on what we're getting.

What other single board computers would you recommend for a home server?
Used micro desktop pc
For the same chip and less money, I would do the orange pi five, tbf, I haven't tried to get it to work much after I bought it.
hmm... reading the headline of this video, I was missing a more detailed comparison with the Pi, not only comparing the size of the board.

PCIE 3 on a single board, fancy.
pinky out!
get the zima board and call it a day
Those represent very poor value for money.
@@jamescollins6085 you’ve used one?
I can pick up a ryzen powered mini PC for the same money. This is way overpriced for the power.

It's 7x more expensive so i would be really surprised if it wasn't a lot better than rpi. Not worth it tho.

Over priced IMO.
Compared to what with the same specs?
