    The "antiquated" knobs on the radio are a much welcome return. Thanks Honda for listening to the number one grip of Honda owners. The "swipe" buttons were a pain.

    I have driven nothing but V6 Hondas and Acuras since 2002. I swore that I would never get another 4 cylinder since I loved the dynamics and feel of the V6 models I owned. Came time to replace my '16 TLX V6 and decided to just check out the Accord 2.0T, after reading so many positive things about it and watching numerous videos hailing its greatness. I just purchased a '20 Accord Touring 2.0T about 3 weeks ago. I am so impressed! Honda has done a tremendous job! Not only did I go back to a Honda after driving 7 straight Acuras but went from a V6 to a turbo 4 cylinder. The car is superb and I do not miss the V6 at all. I believe the Accord is actually a bit quicker than my Acura. I will say that my Acura had a little bit less road noise but the Accord isn't unbearable by any stretch. Also, the sound system in my Acura is superior and that I do miss but the rest of the car is fantastic! I think it's great looking, economical, reliable, comfortable, feature laden and plenty quick.

    I currently own a 2018 Accord 2.0 Sport and I love everything about it. It's quick, nimble and fun to drive. The 10 speed auto is very responsive and sport mode makes it even more so. I call it my little rocket on wheels.

    I have a 2018 CR-V Touring with the 1.5T. The engine is loud. It growls. The CVT transmission in it takes a bit of getting used to but from what I know it is actually one of the better sorted CVT transmissions out there. These turbo Honda engines LOVE high octane gas. There is a noticeable difference in power and throttle response with 93 vs 87 octane.

      nauticalone Ed ...I'm sure he'll retire soon enough, it's been a good run but time to go and drive off into the sunset in a MW favorite from BMW or VW, that seems to be their favorites.
      Knobs are much safe and they are round and 360 degrees of turning is easy and can't be improved upon, get it MW.

    I finally picked up my Accord Touring 2.0T last week! I couldn't be happier. The Car handles the road extremely well. Steering is fantastic, and the new 10 speed auto transmission is buttery smooth, coupled with a great paddle shifters.
    Lastly, the cockpit is loaded with tech. This car will put a smile on your face each time you are behind the wheel.
    This is coming from a guy who used to own a BMW 4 Series. My old Beemer was surely flashier & more powerful with twin turbo V6.....However, this beatiful sporty Accord will make you smile each time you drive it! Ohh, and it cost me a lot less than BMW!
    Thank you Honda for building a fantastic family sports car, loaded with safety features and top notch tech goodies, that other luxury manufacturers charge $1000's for. I'm a happy Honda customer!

      Ily Sayarh Same here. My godfather, who was my former middle school vice-principal back in seventh grade for the '07-'08 school year just got a midnight blue 2018 Accord about two weeks ago! He told me that his '13 F-150 wasn't giving him good fuel mileage when he travels from Orangeburg, SC to West Columbia, SC to his principal job at a charter school. While asking my godfather about his Accord, he's doesn't know what trim level that he got. However, he told me his came with that Adidas-like cloth upholstery which gave me a hint! Even though he's 6'5" and a truck guy, I'm very happy for him!! ☺☺☺☺

      An ex girlfriend of mine is an avid Accord fan and she had the last Touring V6 which was a great car to drive. I was skeptic when she bought this current model touring but after getting in and driving it, I was impressed. It's got more interior room and the same quickness as the V6 it replaced.

    The Accord has always been one of the several unveiling I always look forward too. Along with the Miata, mustang, wrangler F-150.
    I have driven a 1.5T Sport CVT. I was pleasantly surprised by the low end grunt of the tiny motor. I bet the 6 spd manual is fun.
    I think the Passat R-Line is just as good(have owned 2). I’m getting a new car in May/June and the Accord Sport, Civic Si, Passat R-Line are on the short list. I hope the Accord leases well.

    I'm not hyped on the rear tail lights or the front end, however if they decided to go nuts and make a Type R Accord for North America, i would probably rush up there to toss money down!

      Acc0rd79 I love Honda and Acura and they need to make Type S and R for their line ups.

    • @roochiecooch
      @roochiecooch 6 лет назад +5

      I really wish they would make an Accord Type R for the United States market. Low Volume and they would sell, I think they'd be surprised how many people would want it, and all they'd have to do is tune that new K20C1 2.0 Turbo up t around like 350-400hp Range if they want to keep costs low since they wouldn't have to develop a new engine. Then if that did well, the following Model Could have a Turbo V6 or even Turbo Inline 5 cyinder would be cool mainly because of the exotic sound they have and Honda isn't new to 5 Cylinder engines either they made the Acura Vigor Honda Vigor in some markets, with a 2.0 (G20A1) 5 cylinder making 160 hp and 137 Lb Ft of Torque or a 2.5 (G25A1) 5 cylinder making 187 Hp and 175 Lb Ft of Torque. Then there was also the US market TL from 1995-1998 that also had a 2.5 (G25A4) 5 cylinder slightly detuned to 176 Hp and 175 Lb Ft of Torque for whatever reason, most likely emissions. But how amazing would it be to have a Turbo 5 Cylinder Honda Accord Type R in the US market making near 400 hp, SH-AWD borrowed from Acura and renamed would go well with it too and make for a hell of a Car and wouldn't directly compete with it's own Civic since they would be for different markets and I think it would sell and be amazing as long as they didn't price it ridiculously.

  • @TEC_Stuff
    @TEC_Stuff 6 лет назад +1

    I dislike this trend of using buttons or dials for shifting the transmission. It's not as intuitive to push or pull buttons when backing up, instead of using a console-based shifter. Also, where can you rest your hand when your elbow is lying on the console?! The new Accord is not selling well as a result of this, just like the 2018 GMC Terrain is not selling as well as it should. They both use buttons for transmission functions.

    • @skifree0
      @skifree0 6 лет назад +1

      I don't really see the correlation. considering that the vast majority of accord buyers do not get the 2.0T, but the 1.5T instead. that has a transmission with a lever.
      as for "resting your hand" just put more of your arm on the armrest? I drive a manual so I don't have the option to rest my hand on the selector (I risk damaging the shift forks), and it has never bothered me.

  • @oldtwinsna8347
    @oldtwinsna8347 6 лет назад +1

    Interesting acceleration times. The slow 0-60 is definitely due to the lack of traction so I wouldn't be consumed with that number too much; the 100 mph trap speed shows it is faster than the old V6 auto (the old manual V6 was a bit faster). The 2.0t with the manual is known to be slower due to lack of optimized gearing as well as turbo spool going offline in between shifts.

    I really dislike this new trend of automakers using turbos on everything nowadays----when those turbos break or wear out (and they will), repairs will be costly. That might be an acceptable compromise in a sports car, but not in a family sedan.

      Keep in mind the old J-series uses a timing belt , which in the Honda is hard to replace, with a $800 repair bill every 100k. That's a mandatory replacement too, not just "maybe" it will go out, it eventually will and break your engine down completely.

    • @klasseact6663
      @klasseact6663 6 лет назад +3

      justsomeguytoyou ...the previous engine it replaced needed a timing belt service which also had people replacing their water pumps as well due to it being replaced. I heard it's a $1200 service...is that acceptable. Turbo tech has come a long way, older ones weren't better but having coolant running through it after shut off is key, the older turbos didn't have that and if you ran them hard and shut them off right away the bearing inside would go bad and then smoke, not the turbos fault but USER ERROR.
      Get with the times, there is a replacement for displacement and it's called T U R B O

    Easily better looking than ANY other sedan in the segment. Like the rear of the Camry, Passat is ok (I drive an '08 3.6L 4Motion which I love)... everything else... Ehhhh... I may be a bit prejudiced on the Honda. I've owned 7 Accords (3 Civics). My mother has a Pilot. They are just great cars. If I should buy a new car in the next few years, it will be a red or white Accord Touring. BTW, I am foul with Ford over the discontinuation of most of it's cars. Everyone is to concerned what people, homes, cars look like nowadays. What about reliability? Pumping regular gas? Every bit of technology that's out there, for a cheap lease rate?

    Now hear this...turbo and 6 spd manual available, oh yeah, it's a Honda, what seems to be the problem here?
    Let's look at what we've got here from a perf standpoint, 14.8 @100 mph and a cold track, car was blowing the tires off from the git go, so what you really have here is a 14.4 family car that's fun to drive and looks great. That said, I would rework that grill a bit, the top portion.
    I'm sure Honda wouldn't do a Type R version of this but they could, it has the engine already...DO IT HONDA!

      Klasse Act Since 2015 Accord repair record per 100 is growing to almost double according to Truedelta. The current Accord has gone down hill just like the CR-V leads the segment in repairs. Honda is charging top buck for their cars and cuv's but the customers are over paying. I won't even start on the V6 vibration and oil consumption or the ZF transmission follies. Honda customers shouldn't be beta testers for the company.
      Chevrolet is the most awarded car company over the last couple of years for a reason.

    What I like about the Accords is the price mostly. The car has everything you need, is extremely reliable and you can get one for under $25,000. When you pay more than $30,000 for a car I feel you are just throwing away money for luxury items or extra horsepower.

    The ¼ mile times were almost 1 second too slow.
    The is probably due to one or more of the following:
    -- The car was left in its default driving mode (the mode when the car is started). You must press the "Sport" button, in order to have the transmission shift for best performance, as well as increasing the turbo boost. In the default driving mode, the car compromises some of the performance, in favor of better fuel economy (not what you want when conducting a "performance" test).
    -- The "Traction Control" was left in its default driving mode (the mode when the car is started). You must press the "Traction Control" button to turn it off, in order to get the best acceleration.
    -- The tires were cold. Was a burnout done, to help the car launch?
    -- The driver is not up to the task, or had a bad run. Does MotorWeek do multiple runs, to ensure they are getting the best that the car has to offer?
    By the way, the slalom test was probably also done in the default driving mode. In "Sport" mode, the suspension stiffens up and the car gets lowered a bit (I believe).

    • @NoEgg4u
      @NoEgg4u 3 года назад

      @erozpl01 People who care:
      -- The host of the video. He reviewed the car's performance. He did so, because he cares, and knows that his viewers care; not because he does not care.
      -- The car's engineers care. They did not add a turbo for nothing. They did not supply some cars with a 1.5 liter engine, and some cars with a 2.0 liter engine, because no one cares.
      -- People who have a family, and need the room of a full size sedan, and cannot afford a Ferrari on-the-side. So they compromise, and get a sedan that has a focus on performance.
      -- People who enjoy learning about all kinds of cars.
      -- People who take their Accords to the race track.
      -- People who reprogram their Accords to remove all manner of retardation, which results in nearly 100 additional horsepower.
      -- Any number of other people who have reasons that we do not know about.
      Are you thumbing your nose at performance related Accord topics because you are envious of those that have them? Or are you thumbing your nose at performance related Accord topics because you are a spoiled super-car owner?

      Well, you seem to have a lot of excuses as to why this car is so “slow” (I think it’s quite adequate, actually). The power to weight ratio is right in line with the performance numbers. MW does achieve the slowest times out of the major car rags, however.
