    There's been a myriad of different experiences lately that venture far and away from what's considered traditional. Cozy Grove borrows some of the ideas behind games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and takes it on a whole other level, and it's perhaps the most chill and relaxing games I've played this year! Watch my review and find out more about it!

    Another very well thought, written, and narrated review! I've been playing since release and, like you, I use the game at the end of a busy/hard work day to chill and unwind. (Also, like you, I have over 40 years of gaming experience, but who's counting right?!) Two things that set this apart from Animal Crossing for me are the character's stories and that the game gives me direction. There's some very wry, witty humor going on aside from the silliness of Allison the Baker Bear and her cooking antics! Enjoyed the review!

    This may not be my jam, specifically, but the visual style here is simply gorgeous.
    Also, rectangular spirit bears. Yes.

    Slightly weird question but I'm assuming quest progression isn't limited to the day it's given so you don't have to do everything the game gives you in a single day on the same day? So if I don't have as much time or energy on a given day to pick up all the quests I'll be good for getting them later?

    • @BacklogBattle
      @BacklogBattle  3 года назад +7

      It’s definitely not limited to that day! There are some non story quests that are limited time wise, but all story quests can be completed at your own leisure!

    Has anyone finished the game? Once you finished the game and start up a new one is it the same characters or do you get different one's upon the new game file?

  • @DamTheLad

    It really looks nice and relaxing. How much time a day it took you to do the majority of the thing you had to do before you could'nt do anything else ?

    • @BacklogBattle
      @BacklogBattle  3 года назад +2

      It depends on what I want to do. Typically it’s between an hour to two hours if I wanted to grab everything on the map since I like doing multiple rounds just to make sure I’ve gotten everything! This includes the tasks they already give you. Either way, still low impact!
      Oh and I should say that resources do come back over time, and since some crafted materials take an hour to get mailed, you can come back later and check to see what’s available!

    I'm so late, I am NOW learning about this game!! Would you recommend that I play this for the PC or the switch? I read somewhere that it runs in real-time and that you only get one-two hours of gameplay.

      @@BacklogBattle I'm LOVING this game, but I'm stuck. I'm doing a quest where I have to feed an imp their favorite food in order to retrieve an envelope from them but I don't know how to give them the food. I tried dropping it but they wouldn't pick it up and whenever I go near them, they would disappear :/

    As someone who's put a little over 16 hours into it over a dozen in-game days, I can't say I agree that it respects your time because it gatekeeps questing on a per day basis rather than whether you've completed one quest and are ready for another. The game will literally say to come back the next day for more.
    That's not respecting my time, that's the game forcing me to play to ITS schedule. It's extra frustrating as certain quests can feed into each other, in that one can require an item that takes several days to grind out and then that very item might be one part of ANOTHER larger quest that'll take days in its own right.
    You even concede in your review to this, which is confusing. Clearly, we see "respecting time" very differently. I'd so far as to say you constantly contradict your points by going into the many ways the game forces you to either wait instead of playing or grind through its systems to achieve a simple goal.
    The game will wait for you to come back rather than continue without you, yes. But, I feel this is an example of one step forward yet several steps back. Asking you to grind and grind and grind AS WELL AS wait a literal day (or days) to complete quests, a literal hour for a food item to be baked and delivered to you, etc. doesn't exactly scream intuitive or accessible gameplay design.
    I do really like the game nonetheless, but it's got a plethora of maddening design decisions that mostly stem from this single one. Not helping is how shallow the """"story"""" and characters are (another aspect I don't agree with your points on). The rare two sentences worth of dialogue which reference a character's past life is far from sufficient. Adding to that, most (if not all) the characters are written with the same cutesy-quirky personality. Their unique predicaments aside, how they address said predicaments is 95% homogenized between each. No character is more/less excitable, depressive, naïve, charismatic, etc. than the others. They all feel the exact same to me.

  • @karakamen
    @karakamen Год назад +2

    A single quest can take you 20 or more LITERAL days to complete. It's a nightmarish grind I don't wish on anyone. Don't waste your time here!

    So glad I watched this. The daily limit makes this an avoid like the plague game. HARD PASS.
